  1. i've been trying different ways. I've "boiled" some different ways and i've got an 8 pointer of mine partially buried under a tote. works best no matter the method, if you cut as much of it off as possible. for the jawbone aging there's a bit more to it than what he said. if you take it for how he presented it and nothing more then you're going to have mixed results. i'd be on the fence with that jawbone if that deer was 2.5 or 3.5 yrs old. it's georgia though and not here. i've seen deviations in wear of the dentine which is why you have to look at other stuff too. also why people shoot down the method.
  2. done that. it works. had it work with bucks from same property too though. use glove to cut it off and pull glove off inside out. always dumped on a stump or rock.
  3. i wait for first big temp drop and spike of pressure. doesn't matter the temp. matters how much it changes. otherwise i don't waste my time taking off this early. we don't have the property that bucks are at right now. come late october into november different story.
  4. family and friends all shopping or picked up SUVs. foreign or domestic 2019. didn't matter as they all had some odd Ecopia tire i've never heard of from Bridgestone.
  5. mowed this weekend. no pictures. my lawns not that nice. still tore up from putting in a garage.
  6. awesome. nice job! no doubt it must have been an experience of a lifetime.
  7. 3D and backup hunting bow I had out today. Took a deer with it. Still dialed into at least 50 yards but I was starting to run out of room in the backyard. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  8. Good and bad... my primary hunting bow I'm in process of getting retuned. I'm still tinkering. My 3D bow serves as my backup compound hunting bow though. My first shot with it in 10 months was at a fresh deer target in the backyard. Second picture I moved back to 40 yards and shot two more arrows. Peep got a little twist in it and threw me off 2" to right. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  9. Intergalactic warrior from toppling goliath. Good but not as good as others I've had from them. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  10. Just got back from a QDM meeting. Nightmare Columbian Necktie. Delicious sour. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  11. you can take them they just can't be quartering to that much. if they are you have to wait for them to quarter to you enough to send in front of the shoulder and you better have a head like you got, lots of KE, and arrow with some ass behind it for penetration. i'd even come a few inches farther forward. an inch or so higher might be good to get over the elbow but i'd hold the same elevation. even if the deer doesn't duck it'll flinch which makes it squat a little. that green dot is good broadsided but as you get angles you have to shoot as if the dot is in the center of the foams depth. you probably already know this. sorry. putting it out there for others. good shooting.
  12. Some more grilling for lunch at work. Couple small but on sale Bbq chicken quarters grilled up at work and turned into sammitches! Seriously they made a really good sandwich. lol Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  13. so the Upper Hudson River Valley QDMA branch had to partner up with DEC and the local chapter for BHA (Backcountry Hunters and Anglers). We've settled on 11 new hunters with some on a waiting list with 2 more farmers market appearances we're dedicated to. Will update more and with pictures at some point once we have some events.
  14. forget my bows ... i should take a picture of my wife's bow. that thing is sick for a women's bow! i was moving stuff around down stairs and checked it out. thing just sits in a fancy case.
  15. hope she heals up quick and is back at it. meanwhile practice certain things that won't have her falling on it like practicing shots on goal. running with the ball to keep endurance. it should maybe keep her preoccupied enough.
  16. i know of a lot of people that did this and are paying for it later in life. heck some even did stuff at enduro, harescramble, or gncc type races on our farm. best to let it heal right and be back at it then. everybody remembers how you were in it to win it when you get hurt.
  17. Had to have a Treehouse Summer to say good bye to summer. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  18. Had a few from Treehouse Saturday night. Green, perfect storm, and haze (not in the picture). Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  19. i got my hands on a 4 or so Evolve cam bows. That cam was awesome. 90% let off is weird as hell to let down. my problem is i'm partial to my 2011 PSE Evo with an IBO of 345fps because of things outside of performance. new bows are nice. no obsession dealer around here so never really considered them.
  20. looks like i kinda missed this. glad the surgery went well. hope you all get good news from here on out.
  21. i'd like the large QDM co-op i "manage" to have a season without drama or issues. lol I'd like to get a new hunter or two a deer. I'd like to find some time to get away by myself and kill some deer hopefully. hopefully a nice buck. in a perfect world two of them.
  22. they say 5 seconds is all you've got for absolute focus when aiming. i'm saying 5 seconds of true focus where anything an inch or 2 outside your point of aim is non-existent is practically an eternity. too long for me. when my pin is floating and i'm committed 5 seconds is still long. anything close and i fatigue and pin float opens up a little too.
  23. maybe both. i know it does tighten a little. i don't use back tension to execute the shot as much as i do to settle the pin. this can easily be misunderstood, so i'll say you don't want too much back tension to cause fatigue, erratic release, and movement in your bow arm.
  24. still have 2 farmers market appearances we've committed to. all classes taking place in October. I would think we'll settle on 10 as are hunter ed instructor board member said that's the typical minimum for a course but not sure if we're sticking with 8 or not. we'll have another update on the 24th when we have our normal meeting.
  25. unless a specialty like lancaster, 3 rivers, etc. hard to compete against BassPro/Cableas now with them being one entity. Don't have one around here except south and i'm not driving an hour plus to go check it out. seems like you could fill a cart quick though with 40% off. happy huntin i mean shopping!
