So if they change the Ny rules to say that you will get to harvest 1 buck per season(Your choice of weapon) with antler restricts in places and you must bring your buck to a check station, Would you give up hunting in Ny State?

Primitive ML Season Next Year............
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Muzzleloaders
To many bucks would be killed if they made the season to late into December. -
Well really not sure. We are open way to long in gun season..IMO Of course.. We open say Oct 15th till the 25th, Off 10 days, Then back on 10 days so we end up with a season like the..Tier...! 3 or 4 week season= More and bigger deer in the woods in the North! Now throw in a 1 buck rule and things may change a bit in the North. I know i have heard many, many complaints about the lack of deer around my neck of the woods and i have to say my 700 acres of hunting land was pi$$ poor this year as a whole!

It does not apply to private lands. only trails that are managed and groomed by a club and such. I think the later in the season you would see to many bucks that have shed their racks taken. Shorten the gun season in the north by skipping a week every other week out of the what..6,8 weeks its open now.

Road Hunter Problems
Four Season Whitetail's replied to stop em and drop em's topic in General Hunting
Maybe let someone on there to hunt while your away? That would keep someone around at different times. -
Genetics and age are the biggest 2. A buck needs protein(sp) to grow his rack. A wild buck in most parts of Ny gets a 14% diet in that range easy with the farm crops. Now up in the hills could be a stretch for that for sure. We have what it takes in most parts of the states to grow nice deer. We just need age in most areas and other areas we need the deer itself. I know our numbers are way down in my neck of the woods. From some reading on here it sounds as im not alone!

Urban legend deer situation. What would you do?
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Al Bundy's topic in Deer Hunting
Yes Sir. Deer runs out of corn and falls. I see its the one i had just shot at. Boom! Done without any seconds thoughts or worry about the outcome. I my eyes when i shot the first time i took the first step of the whole trip and that trip didnt end untill that deer was put down, The humane way! -
You nailed that one. I know in my case the farming(Deer)part of it came from the love of the animal. The name..Four Seasons..came from me chasing these things in one way or another 24/7. I was and always will be a deer hunter first. Then a farmer. The crazy money that can be made being around an animal you love is tops but there is a downfall when it comes to hunting. There is a different mindset when it comes time to harvest. They are so wrapped up in it on a daily basis that im sure its a job with huge fringe benefits. Click heals with all the country stars and rich folks. I would also bet if you sat down with Lee and asked him he would tell you he loves most of it but hunting has turned into a job! A job i for one would love but im sure its not for everyone.Unless every job came with a Tiff....

I came back down #390 and the Thruway Sunday and man with all that snow you can see some deer. Its hard to say there is a shortage of deer if you really watch. There are a ton of deer that either live between the North and South or East and West lanes or they just get stuck there! There was a pile of them all the way to Cuse!

I think it all comes down to when a hunter matures in his hunting life. Myself i now find myself in the..cant kill something thats easy way of thinking. I dont take the little easy bucks. I try not to take fawns or young does when it comes to getting meat. I also would much rather bow or muzzleload hunt because its tougher. It also matters where you hunt. Lots of deer or very few deer. When i let a deer walk i still feel as though..I Won..Because i could have taken them. It all come down to choices i guess!

lets not forget what he makes out of deer farming. He cant harvest all those bucks he raises, after he releases them. Isnt that what the word is. Really, The Duck Guys? Now thats funny right there! The Martha of WalMart.

Their Fallen Off. Already?
Four Season Whitetail's replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in Hunting Related Pictures
If they fell off maybe. If a guy walks out of the woods with say a 8inch spike buck with both antlers broke off, in the guys hand and an antlerless tag on the..Buck..there could and should be a problem. -
Most times the..New Farm...Is just the farm he is hunting for a certin buck on. The owner of the property that the..Big Buck..He is hunting is on gets a good chunk of something im sure. Most big names dont own the land, They just get to hunt where a big buck has been located.

Their Fallen Off. Already?
Four Season Whitetail's replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in Hunting Related Pictures
So if someone shot a buck and it ran into a tree and broke both sides off but they are laying right there at the tree a doe tag goes on it? I guess the broken antlers would also stay laying at the tree! -
Sure is some scary places on the park when it comes to the gorge walls. I have heard he was the trainer that day and had no safety belts on at the time. Like some said..When your numbers picked!

Happy Turkey day all.. Gobble till you Wobble!

So they would like you to believe. They say its spred in urine and saliva. Yet they cant test either and find cwd. Sounds kinda fishy dont ya think. Sorry to the op and getting off topic. Looks like that boy took the bait for sure!!!
-
Glad to hear you both got great newz!!!!

Thats why they should not do ar but to shorten the season. 1 buck rule and no guns during the rut. That would save many bucks lives to grow older and would still get doe tags where they are needed. They say only a handfull of hunters fill all their tags and a huge percent go without a harvest even with our 3 month season. Way to long of a season up here. my area here has just as much Ag as say Livingston cty but they have twice as many deer and many much bigger!
-
Thank You all very much. They say 50 is just a number. I guess we will see if the walk to the stand feels any different in the morning. Everybody be safe out there. The snow is starting to pile up in my neck of the woods!!

On 390 between Mt Morris and the thruway there were 13 dead on the Sunday of opening weekend. Most were young bucks with one being big enough that somebody decided to cut his head off. I most places i saw less but going down every weekend in Nov showed alot of dead ones in that part of #390!

Really...Mid November..Couple inches of snow at best and you talk yarding? The weather may effect them for a day or two..Ie..Wind!
