  1. Squirrels are measured by the size of their nuts, everyone knows that!
  2. item 4 tailgated to about 6 inches. about 18 to 23 bucks a yard when you get 20 yd triaxle dumps delivered. don't really need to roll it, just drive on it. that simple.
  3. yea the weather is so unpredictable this time of year, i think it was about 5 years back i was sitting in a stand late Oct and it hit 75 degrees, i had clothing hanging all over my stand as i peeled off my layers.
  4. i try not to pay attention to all the sillyness out there and just enjoy the sport the way i like to. hunting to me is a personal thing and i have no time to listen to guy's who wanna give me tips on how to be a better hunter.
  5. funny how deer just seem to move right along property lines ;D must be that red surveyors tape..
  6. hey guy's turkey season starts Oct 1 in NY, are any of you guy's going to give em a shot or are you all just too geared up for deer season. i have never hunted fall turkey but i have such a blast in the spring i was thinking about it... any experianced fall turkey killers have any tips for the fall birds? i am alittle concerned with disturbing the woods right before whitetail season but really like the idea of being able to get out early Oct..
  7. can someone explain to me exactly how the hell turkeys eat acorns? do they swallow them whole? i can't imagine their beeks are strong enough to crack em, and we all know the have no arms??
  8. i'll be in 1/2 hour before light and out by 9:30 or so and back in at about 3:00 till dark.
  9. i try not to get too wound up over the whole property line thing, i think it's a big part of whats ruining hunting in this state. short of someone actually putting a stand on my land i really don't care if they are near or even on my lines, as long as they arent too close to a stand i might have along one of their lines ;D . when i first moved to this property i found a tree stand put up towards the back of my land, i just left the guy a little note that i was also hunting this property as the new owner, it wasnt a problem he finished out his season and i did get to meet the guy and he explained how he was hunting this land since he was a kid. i told him he was more than welcome to continue hunting that area towards the back, and he was very appreciative but he didnt return the following season anyway. hunters/landowners gotta learn to relax.
  10. i have friends that are anti hunting and truly don't like the sport but as long as they except me for what i am i will except them for what they are. thats the problem with this country everyone wants to put up walls and divide everyone one into groups.
  11. didn't read the whole thread but yes i own one and it's the best damn muzzle loader in the world, i can out shoot any T/C, or any other muzzle loader with it, and yea i use smokeless in mine.
  12. i've hunted the northern zone and spent intire seasons witout seeing a buck, the deer population is sparse, the forests are mature, deer need agriculture, gardens, and varying terrain with lots of undergrowth. scenery is something to see in the northern zone..
  13. it's kinda like illegal aliens you cant keep them out.
  14. Pellet stoves are great but your back to the same old problem of having to rely on a company/corp to get your pellets.
  15. i've been burning wood for decades, i hate oil companies. i go thru about 4 cords per years and split by hand, i cut the trees from my property, don't need a gym membership, and love burning wood.
  16. yea the next one i get i was thinking about building up the battery area with some JB weld or epoxy or going with the external batt as you guy's recommend. i do have to add that the display and ease of use are top notch on these cams, not to mention the price.
  17. no Gators in Ulster county, but i'm on to Big Foot big time and should have photos of him any decade now!!!! i did see a UFO yesterday morning at about 2:35 a.m.
  18. i had one and the battery compartments on each side fell apart internally, very thin plastic, i was wondering if they improved that yet????
  19. once you sock it in with the long nose pliers it will never move, or shouldn't. just put the plier tip thru the loop and pull open on the handles with a good amount of force and those nots will tighten right up...
  20. there's only a short time period during the rut when rattling can be effective. it is kinda funny how on the hunting shows their smashing those antlers together and have deer running right in like it's feeding time, oh did i just say that? ;D
