  1. and really i would find it alittle over the top if someone could be arrested for taking one sip of booze, and where are the lines drawn, is that on state land, damn if i wanna hunt my own land and take a swig while hunting that should be totally up to me, we arent living in Nazi Germany yet?
  2. dude you better keep up on your hunting regs and not be caught toting a crossbow around during archery season. they arent legal in bow season.
  3. i don't know about where you guy's live in the state but all this black friday sale thing at the local Dicks and Gander Mountain looks like total BS. yea theres a couple items they are trying to unload at good prices but it doesnt look anything like last years deals on rifles, stands, blinds, etc. the prices are the same as they where way back in October?? do the stores think we have become so stupid that we will just buy anything because they have a big banner out front that says huge Black Friday Sale.
  4. well i spent countless hours looking thru NYS law and NYS DEC rules and regulations and have found nothing of the sort, and an earlier poster who also spoke to a NYS DEC officer directly disputes what you claim?like i said in the very first post, cold hard fact is the only thing i'm interested in, not opinions on what people would like the law to be.
  5. i'm sure you could provide proof in the form of a link or something, right.
  6. Hey VJP, thanks man this is all i wanted, cold hard fact plain and simple. somehow i knew the opinion givers would not be able to pass on this one.
  7. is there actually a law in the NY state books about possession of alcohol while hunting and does that pertain to both private and state lands, because if thats the case i want to make this guy aware of this and will probably avoid hunting with him.
  8. now let me assure all of you this is not a question about me, i like to drink a stiff brandy n beer but always do it when home out of the woods. But i have an acquaintance who still brings a small flask of booze with him in the woods, he doesnt get drunk but only takes one small sip or so when he gets cold, but needless to say still has the booze in his backpack when he hunts. he always goes along with someone and he never drives, but he does hunt state land and private land and i was wondering what the legality of this is....i'm not looking for opininions, just cold hard fact regarding the law and am not interested in anyones opinion on wether i should bust him in or not.
  9. hunting has become an individualized thing. i'm not sure if thats good or bad but i still enjoy the sport as much as ever, i will be heading out with 3 guys tomorrow morning toting a rifle.
  10. i remember driving by state land and cars parked bumper to bumper, a whole hell of alot more shooting on opening morning. hunters were younger then also. hunting camps were alot bigger with alot of drinking and card playing. you would see deer on every other car cruising along the thruway, and blaze orange was just amazing to look at. small towns crawling with hunters, and all you saw in the local diners and gin mills were hunters. seemd like in those days it was more about luck, and today we know more, even have our deer named.
  11. i gotta say, i'm alittle lost on the meaning of your post.
  12. the Butcher of Austerlitz, sounds scary ???
  13. now that almost every hunter is wearing a harness the suspension trauma death thingy has taken center stage. you got about 5 to 10 mins till you go sleepy bye for good.
  14. do you think wearing blaze should become law, i think it should.
  15. some guy's in the construction trade still poo harnesses, i guess when you spend a lifetime walking on roof trusses at 35 feet you just feel you don't need them. my best hunting buddy is an arborist and i don't dare even mention a harness to him and almost wanna hide mine under my coat when i hunt with him. i myself have stepped over the edge of many a 2 story roof getting on and off a ladder but it seems i have lost my nerve and even have a hard time doing that on my 1 story ranch today...
  16. CO is a dangerous job, every one they have to confront is armed with a firearm. we just had the nut in Ellenville NY shoot a gaurd at a rehab center which caused the closing down of the whole town, also a younger guy, the pic of the killer showed that same crazed look in his eyes. young white America seems to be headed on a bad path, lack of jobs and direction and the state of our economy i think have alot to do with this. young guy's even with college educations have nothing to do? and can't seem to make any money.
  17. there are laws to protect hunters angainst harassment, i would certainly give the police or troopers a call and let them know about your situation, and maybe set a covert trail cam not far from your car next time your there hunting...i have heard of these idiots vandalizing hunters vehicles.

    Bad News

you know we only get a few precious weeks to hunt, and these atv guy's have the whole year to tear up the woods, you would think they could have alittle decency and give us some space and most of all QUIET!!
  19. i'm not really sure. i bought it for a m-77 .223 which i purchased new about 4 years ago, i sold the rifle and never installed this stock.
  20. Stock fits Ruger M-77 short action, 109.99 new, will sell for 80 bucks TYD....
  21. state land access has always baffled me?? it's almost like they wanna keep you off certain state parcels by having one little parking space for thousands of acres or the access is in the steepest hardest to walk areas???
  22. poor timing, things will settle down once they are out of there...
