That has become our HR plan....any warm body..... worst thing you can do, but that’s all we got. Montana stopped the federal unemployment bonus and is giving out hiring bonuses. (Not sure of all the details). Heard today South Carolina followed suit. Too bad, it will never happen in NY, but we need out badly.

Shot trap last night and was looking forward to a burger and a few beers with the guys. Tried three different restaurants, all jam packed. Finally found one that had an open spot. Only one waitress two bartenders and who knows who in back. Waitress came over and said, I’m slammed, I have no idea how long it will be before I can take your order. Finally got a beer from the bar, drank that and came home. It’s going to be a long summer, and I don’t think fall is going to change much. The extra unemployment is just one thing holding up people getting back to work. A lot of those furloughed people are just going to stay home, unemployment or not.

I love the Smart Wool socks. I have a few Darn Tough and some of the models don’t fit me right, there are too tight on the front part of my foot where it meets my ankle. I have a few other pairs and they are ok, but those one model just don’t feel comfortable. Smart Wool has been good every time. I also bought a 6 pack of cheap wool blend socks at Costco and dam if those are not the most comfortable and durable for every day use. I think it was 20 bucks for the 6 pairs. If they get gummed up with sawdust or prickers, I don’t feel bad tossing them. Plenty warm and comfy too.

I've hunted at Upland Game Preserve in Montour Falls, NY many, many times. 22 miles from Painted Post. He has pheasants, chukkars and quail and is open September to April. In Cooperstown, I love the Farmers Museum. But I grew up on a farm, so...... they also have pioneer era house and people "living the life" on display. Not sure what covid has changed. but it is a family thing for sure! Also, not too far away is Howes Caverns which is really awesome, great tour underground, plus they have a zip line there now too.

I had a cook when I had a restaurant that soaked his chicken in buttermilk, Franks, and cayenne, plus some other stuff he would never let anyone see. He had awesome Fried Chicken!! I'm going to try this on the next turkey.

Good idea Rob, they don't grow as well in cold temps anyways, better to leave them in the greenhouse where conditions are perfect before shocking them outside.

WOLC, .410 guns are very popular right now using TSS loads. Accurate and deadly past 50 yards, or so i have read. Not sure about using the lead ammo you have, but you can certainly test it out! I have a 28" on my BPS, it does stick put when shooting out of a blind, but I have not been busted when doing so. Just go slow and watch where the bird is focused. Thank you everyone for all the notes of condolences. The house is a bit quieter for sure. Time will heal, and maybe there will be another dog in our future soon.

We said goodbye to Buddy yesterday, my 13.5 year old brittany. He was doing pretty good for an old man, but the last week he was definitely struggling and we knew it was time. Buddy was my "rebound" dog. I had lost my first brittany Otto on my birthday in March when he was hit by a car in front of our house. Everyone at work knew how much I loved Otto, so within 2 weeks they bought me a dog from the same breeder. I wanted to name him Otto 2, but my kids could not see the humor of that, so we stayed with the name the breeder called all his puppies regardless of sex. Buddy stuck and I was hunting over him the next week. My favorite Buddy story was when I went to Minnesota to hunt pheasants with my friend Jason and his family. Day 1, Buddy "ran big", sometimes over a half a mile away. But he also hunted close and pointed quite a few birds and even retrieved his share. One bird was in a drainage ditch with matted down and tall weeds on both sides. Buddy pointed it, and the bird would move, unseen by us hunters, and Buddy would repoint the bird in the new location. That's a big deal in pointing dog abilites and at the time he was only 10 months old. Finally we were able to get the bird airborne and it was shot out of the sky and dropped right into the drainage ditch. The bird is floating away, I'm yelling BIRD DOWN, and Buddy jumps into the ditch, goes completely underwater, and comes up under the pheasant like a shark, grabs the bird while jumping out of the water, bird still in his mouth, shakes himself dry and sits down. As soon as I take the bird out he is off and running looking for his next victim. Many more stories with Buddy of course, it will be hard to go home from work tonight without him to greet me at the door. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

I didn't get to saute dandelion greens. My cousin started some in our greenhouse so I might try it when those are ready. But thankfully, last week ramps were perfect. It's only for walking in and walking out - from the front door to your table. Not while you're at the table or at the bar. Not too bad, we've been out a bunch, even all last year.
