    Gor Her Ready!

Pretty fancy rig...I'd probably fall off her and drown !!.....hehehehe....
  2. That can't be fun. My cousin and I fish for cats mainly, then Ling. Our teammates fish for largemouth, then lazy fish with us for cats, lol. I'm the most un lucky when it comes to bass fishing. I try, but I plain suck at it.. Ling...also known as burbot, cusk, eelpout or lawyers.... Never caught one, but I understand they are excellent eating...A freshwater relative of the cod... Certainly must be better eating than big catfish...
  3. Shucks, THAT's nuthin'.... Jed Clampett and Jethro used to sit on their porch and shoot flies off their front gate, 100 yards away... For a challenge, they shot 'em on the WING.......<<grin>>.......
  4. Few things are LESS welcome than unsolicited advice, especially when it is given ( as it usually is) by someone who doesn't know his azz from a hole in the ground.
  5. If you get the urge to try Keuka, give me a holler... A little closer to you, Oneida would be a great place for smallies...My arm is sore from catching them the last three days...
  6. You got SIX ?? We only got three....CBS, ABC, and the local Hootenanny Channel featuring Slim Quail and the Chicken ****** Five..... Their biggest hit song was " I used to kiss her on the lips, but it's all over now"..........
  7. Getting older sucks, but it beats the alternative ! We must compensate as we age...I can't shoot a rifle nearly as well offhand as I used to, so I always try to get a rest of some sort.. I can still wingshoot pretty good, but I can't walk nearly as far ( or fast) as I used to...<<<SIGH>>>....
  8. Bushy tail....Hmmmmm...Reminds me of one of my old girlfriends......<<SMILE>>........

    Bank Fishing....

TF...I think I still have my "worm blower" in one of my old retired tackle boxes...Probably the needle is rusty by now....I haven't used it in close to 40 years...back in the day I used it a lot drifting crawlers for walleyes and smallies " Lindy Rig" style...
  10. I have never seen a CZ that wasn't a shooter.....My CZ 550 American shoots sub MOA groups with 250 grain Barnes TSX bullets ( 9.3 x 62)...Friends of mine have CZs in .22LR, 17 HMR, 6.5x55 and .308, and they all are sub MOA...
  11. I see them on almost a daily basis here on the Chemung/Canisteo drainage...They are still always a treat to see. What you saw was no doubt a sub adult..They don't get the white head/tail until they are 4 years old..
  12. Stayed at Angler's Bay cabins..Just east of Godfrey point...Fished from Godfrey point east to near Sylvan beach... Worked the dropoff for a long distance and then tried both shallow water and deeper water.. Did not see any action along the dropoff..Talked to one old gent who said they limited out in 30-36 FOW, but we tried fishing that deep and did not find many fish..
  13. It was the voices.....The VOICES told me to load my rifle and come here today.....
  14. Well, the marble eyes won this one...We only boated one keeper walleye in three days of fishing, and only saw a couple of other boats net fish. We compensated by moving in shallower and catching some huge rock bass and sunfish, some decent perch and a BUNCH of fat smallmouths from 3 to 5 pounds on light tackle..Of course the bass were all C&R, since season is not open yet..It appears that the smallies are benefitting from the growing goby population in Oneida, as they have in Lake Erie... They are big and fat and they fight like crazy on light spinning tackle.. They just loved the 1/16 oz. jigs we were using for panfish
  15. Many moons ago, when I was a mere wisp of a lad, I used to do a lot of woodchuck shooting...I got in the habit of pacing off every kill, and that has helped me ever since with range estimation..There were also a couple of familiar features at my home that helped me...From my back porch, it was 100 yards to the barn, and it was 300 yards to a hedgerow that was my Dad's southern boundary line..The distance to these features is still ingrained in my little pea brain and I use them for range estimation to this day. Know it alls at the range ? Been there...I usually just smile and nod my head and usually they get tired of "educating" me and go away..
  16. Remember in the 50s and 60s, when you could buy those mail order , dirt cheap through military surplus outlets, along with all kinds of other quality surplus firearms ?
  17. I can see it now....I'd walk up to the truck with a 30 pack in one hand and bag of groceries in the other, open the door and the step would bang me right in the KNEES....
  18. Happy Birthday, Bob !! I'll drink one for you tonite, somewhere on the northeast shore of Oneida Lake !! BTW...Your moonshine is GONE....<<smile>>.....
  19. I have seen this before....Always wondered how the turtle left that perfect little round hole in the ground.. I am guessing that perhaps they do it with their tail ?? Where the hell is Marlin Perkins when you need him ?
  20. I'll be good....<<smirk>>.....
  21. Thanks, my friend... Tomorrow will probably be our " settling in" day..We'll just get just set up in camp, have a good dinner and a toddy or two and get ready to fish Wednesday...
  22. I love saltwater fishing..Unfortunately, I live 300 miles from it..
  23. One of my good fishing buddies and I are heading up to Oneida tomorrow to fish walleyes for a few days... I'll be out of touch for the duration, but I'll check in when I get back...Any info on current fishing there would be appreciated..
  24. I don't know what any of that stuff means.. Nice truck, though...Same color as mine....Looks like you have the same running boards that I have...
  25. Hehehehe...I have a 1950 vintage Ford 9N tractor..That's a classic for sure.... I have a few classic old firearms, and a pretty classy old farm girl.....<<grin>>....
