    Corn

While hunting gobblers in western Virginia many years ago ( 1984) I did some trout fishing on a nearby trout stream in the afternoons... Corn was popular there with the locals, as evidenced by the empty corn cans ( and other trash) that they seemed to be delighted to litter the stream banks with.
  4. I have the one that is bottom row, MIDDLE and the one on the far right...I carry one in my pack and the other in my turkey vest. I used to have a cheap ball compass that I pinned on my jacket just for quick reference. I lost it in Alaska in 1989.... In 1991 I hunted the same area in Alaska again ( 200 miles from the nearest road) and found the ball compass where my partner and I had pitched our spike camp tent...It had toothmarks where some critter had been chewing on it....

That tom in the last pict definitely has some good spurs, Growie... Good luck with him !
  6. I think that if the carpet matches the drapes, " blacktail" might be more appropriate....,,<< BIG smile>>....
  7. " Spatchcocked"....?? That's a new one for me, although it brings to mind what MIGHT have happened that night back in 1989 when I met that semi-toothless native girl up in Naknek ,Alaska...
  8. As a person who is interested in guns, loads, ballistics, etc., I have an academic interest in the new high performance loads, but at the ranges that I shoot turkeys I don't need them, and feel that at least in my case, the super tight patterns are more of a disadvantage than an advantage. I have a whole pile of 3" shells in my cabinet...They are all either Win XX or Federal Premiums with 1 7/8oz or 2 oz of either #4 shot or #6 shot...The markings are worn off many of them so I often don't know which shot size I am shooting. They all will kill turkeys stone dead at the ranges I shoot as long as I don't close my eyes and jerk the trigger....I'm hoping I can use most of them up before I pass on to that great turkey woods in the sky ( or WHEREVER I end up going)...<<grin>>....
  9. Moog....Shave real clean and get yourself a camouflage beanie with a propeller on the top. I'll take you out during the youth hunt and tell the Game Warden you are my grandson..
  10. I think TF should hunt in his bunny suit this year... The birds would probably die laughing...
  11. No minimum size, it's just that if they are less than 9 or 10 inches, there is not much meat on a filet..
  12. Well, if you want to bend over, I'll lead the deer to you...
  13. Pretty fish !! Look at the size of those spots !
  14. Probably his secret to long life is red vino, pretty women and parodi cigars !! <<grin>>...God bless him...
  15. Great job, Larry !! I have a cool idea....Why don't you surprise Biz when he comes up and paint his CAR ? Wouldn't he be SURPRISED ??
  16. Note to self....Check out origin of the term " corn hole"....
  17. " Heroic deer saves life by performing HINEY- LICK maneuver on choking woman"....
  18. When I was a mere wisp of a lad, I used to catch suckers by the burlap bag full at the CCC flood control dam on Tuscarora Creek west of Addison...It was built as a result of the 1935 flood, and it washed out during the 1972 Agnes flood...
  19. I didn't know they made vests in size 6MT......(six man tent).....<<grin>>....
  20. That's NUTS !! It was only a matter of time before somebody got shot.
  21. It's OK , Dan...I promise I won't hug you... We'll be ok as long you don't mind the snoring and the farting...
  22. I have a tentative houseguest coming in May...I'll check the dates... I'd love to come if there is no conflict... I'm not wearing my PYGMY costume, however...Too much work getting the bone in my nose...
  23. Yeah, GM, worms it was...The water was a nice green color, so we did not have to sneak as much as if they were gin clear. We were fishing tributaries to a major ,heavily stocked trout stream...The tribs are not stocked, so the fish we catch there are either wild or possibly holdover stockies that ascended from the main river.. 14" to 20" trout are common in these little creeks, which is one reason that I like to fish them..The other reason I like to fish them is because I seldom see another fisherman, and often not even a boot track. 90% of the fishermen prefer to fish the main river where the DEC dumps in thousands of trout..
  24. That's OKay...I'll just substitute my " Bobo-binding Leotards".....
  25. You guys know why Canadians prefer " doggy style" ? So they can both watch the hockey game....
