My Canadian turkey hunting buddy has an 835 that he has killed a pile of gobblers with.. It is certainly less "clunky" than the Mossy 500s that I have handled..
-
I had a Darton SL-50....State of the art when I bought it about 35-40 years ago.. I killed my first bow buck with it...
-
Heartfelt congrats to you and Hunter, Skillet... Well done !!... No venison will ever taste better !!....

Holy CRAP , Larry..!!! What a BEAUTY !! Congrats !! Gorgeous buck !!

Sorry to hear you lost a deer...We all hate to have that happen...If anyone says they have never lost an animal, they probably haven't been hunting very long..
-
You didn't mention the chambering, VJP...Seems that I recall it's a 7mm08... ?...
-
Yeah, Bill, me too...It's pretty popular around my area....
-
The 7mm08 seems well represented here... Also the 30-06, .270 Win and 30-30, but that would be as expected... I'm surprised there are not more .308s showing up...

Good shooting, Pilgrim ! Kin you skin GRIZZ ?.....

Hunting in the woods, probably 50 yards.. Hunting fields, probably 100-150 yards.. The longest shot I have taken in New York recently was 225 yards, according to my buddy's rangefinder. That from his enclosed, heated tower stand that overlooks several foodplots..Max range from that stand is about 400 yards.

Zero here, Growie... I have no interest in them, nor any other archery tackle..If it don't burn POWDER, I ain't interested....

Rem 700 Mountain Rifle in 7mm08 with my handloads which feature a Barnes 120 grain TSX @ about 3000 fps MV.. Scope is a Burris 2x7 Fullfield... SECOND day, I'll probably be using my 1943 vintage Garand M1 with issue peep sight and my handloads of 150 grain Hornady BTSP and enough H4895 to duplicate the original WWII issue load at around 2700 FPS MV...

Looks like a HAWG to me !! I'd say that is a big azz bear.... Seems to be a lot of bears here in Steuben this year..I have heard of several being taken so far locally during bow season..

DEC Timber Rattler Snake Den in Bath, NY - Video
Pygmy replied to HectorBuckBuster's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
I only remember one death locally, and that involved a captive snake ( eastern diamondback) that a snake hobbyist kept in his basement.. The guy was a school teacher in Corning and lived in Addison..He had several venomous snakes in cages in his basement..He had been bitten a couple times previously, but had lucked out..The snakes did not inject much venom and he suffered no serious effects.. Then one day in the late 60s or early 70s he was found dead in his basement..He had been bitten and never even made it up the stairs before he died..There were two snakes out of their cages, a cobra and a big eastern diamondback.. At first they thought the cobra had nailed him because he died so fast.. An autopsy showed that the rattler had bitten him near his thumb and delivered the venom directly into a major blood vessel..
