I'M hunting WABBITS...Hehehehe.. One of my buddies has 3 beagles and they are pretty good....The toughest part around here is finding decent cover....Used to be that just about any brushlot held rabbits..Now we only seem to find them in the thickest, nastiest, multiflora rosiest jungles, where you practically have to lay on your belly to get a shot... I also will be doing some ice fishing...Another friend of mine has a 5 acre pond that produces slab bluegills...The ones that only take 5 or 6 fish to make a meal for two people..Ain't nuthin' tastes much better than bluegills out of that ice cold water...

I am considering getting a longer range mud dozer...My old Hawken and old eyes are not adequate for the average range shots that I typically get from my tower stand... Oh yeah...I'm also going to try to stop picking my nose and farting in public...

I have met Paul several times..The last time was at a NWTF National Convention in Columbus, Ohio... Nice guy and EXTREMELY talented with all kinds of turkey calls..Back in the 1980's he was THE man to beat in National calling competition... I never heard a better caller with a mouth diaphragm, and I heard a lot good ones, including Doc Pelham, Dick Kirby and many other legendary callers...

Opening day of rifle season was one of the best I remember...My two Canadian buddies and I all killed bucks out of my tower stand...One at 9:15, one at 11;45, and one just before dark....We killed ten points...2 3's and a 4...We were not trophy hunting hehehe...One buck was shot at 50 yards, one at 150, and one at 270...All 1 shot kills.. A few days later, I shot an adult doe from the stand... Pretty good season as I see it... Nearly every day a button buck and a doe fawn came out on the food plot..I named them DICK and JANE...I kept warning the button buck that if WOLC came around, he was in BIG trouble...

It would be unusual NOT to hear a few shots on the last evening of ML season....People unloading their guns....Those mud dozers make a little more noise than your crossbow..

Good luck NFA...I never really felt any older at 50..But by 60 BIG difference...Even more so from 60 to 70.... Ten years ago I could still navigate hills, brush, streams no problem..Now I feel like a doddering old man... My only solace is that most of my friends the same age seem to have the same problem...Some a lot worse than me..

I'm on my out for my last sit of the year, in my tower over my clover plot... The deer are working the acorns heavy on my oak flat, much more than the clover BUT the heated, enclosed stand is on the CLOVER field, so it's clover or nothing.....
