Frontline is some expensive product...Nice to have free rights to use on human clothing. The permethian (sp?) worked great for me last year...very few tiks when was wearing gear treated during deer hunting. Small game gear was not treated and I was covered- different area and different terrain so too many variables in my test. Definitely treating small game gear this year.

I took a series of shots (3 over 12 months)about10 years ago that was supposed to prevent Lyme disease. After my final shot they took it off the market. I have pulled numerous ticks off me(some engorged, some just walking) but never tested positive for Lymes. Don't know if I'm just lucky or it worked. No idea why it is off the market...I'm sure in twenty years I'll begin to grow an extra toe or something.
  5. What I find sad about my little slice of suburbia regarding lawn care is the amount of gardening crews that infiltrate the neighbor on a weekly basis. I refuse (both financiallyand philosophically) to have a gardener and as a result I have the $hattiest lawn on the block, but it is mine. No sprinkler system + three kids and a dog = spotty lawn and plent of weeds. Interestingly the backyard is coming in ok since the kids are too big to play all out there. But two large pine trees dump lawn killing needles daily and the old blow up pool remnants stil remain.
  6. What's a bunch of rain do to morels? Hinder or help growth?
  7. Looks like hunting on Chas'in Tails...minus the rich cars and plastic women.
  8. Guess what I found! NOTHING! Nice day though!
  9. I'm going tomorrow for a long search...any success today for anyone that will give me some positive mojo?
  10. Thanks for the report blackradio
  11. Wow..those coyotes should be embarassed
  12. For those of you with some successful experience, if there are ash trees, should I expect to find morels? Very frustrating searching for hours and not even know if i am looking in the right areas. At least with shed hunting you can follow well worn trails, food plots, etc.
  13. Iwas out grabbing a mess of wild leeks this morning and gave a look around some ash trees...nothing yet but seeing how I have never found them before, I am not sure if they just aren't up yet or if they are never there anyway???
  14. Better hurry up...wooly will be there before you know it
  15. I also have a charbroiled and love the grill grates - very heavy, what seems like caste iron, grates.. Replaced a few of the burners years ago but now its time to replace it. Can't find anything with the same heavy grates. I'm actually thinking of just finding a grill that has the same dimensions so i can use the old grates in a new grill.
  16. My coolest bottle found is a brown Rhineold Chug a Mug bottle(no idea of the value). I had a great aunt who would slam quarts of Rhinegold like its her job..hanging out her Brooklyn brownstone window while we played stoopball and running bases on sewer caps. I'll try to post a pic later.
  17. Thanks...I'm going to try to get out there myself this weekend in westchester
  18. To add to Grow's list I would include: College- it is no longer a goal to achieve after hard work in schools. It is now an expectation for all kids to go to college. Somehow parents today feel that each and every child is capable of college level learning and the occupations associated with it. When did that change? Now,in many districts, C students do not exist. They have some Learning Disability to excuse their lack of understanding or work ethic. Accommodations are granted Neil the grades climb to the B level...then they are ready for college. Very frustrating. I can't wait until some kid gets fired for not producing his work on time. He should sue the New York State Ed department for graining "extended time" throughout his education experience. Colleges are now accommodating special needs too!
  19. I'm gonna keep bumping this until someone fesses up to finding some of these beauties. I, in southern ny, have found none but this is my first year looking so no known honey holes to search
  20. Oh you said "a teacher" not her teacher...you looking for a new job? New York State Ed can use you to write ambiguous test questions! Thank you for all of your knowledge in all things anyone brings up. Where would we all be without you ever-present wisdom? Oh yeah, thank you also for clarifying how a 3rd graders GPA is calculated. Now I can sleep at night.I would love to hear where the special ed kids should go, in your HUMBLEST opinion.
  21. Regarding china, the majority of students receive a 4th grade education and if I have not proven to be within the top % by then, you are released from the educational system. Comparing US educational systems to China is like comparing plastic apples to real apples.
  22. Except no one feels good except of course the test makers who are raking it in! All on our dime!
  23. When students are going through intense prepping just before they take an evaluation test ..on teaching ability ...it voids the premise of the test...How can that not be seen? I agree 100%! If teachers are teaching to the test for 1 month prior to the test, what have they been doing for the other 6 months? Any administrator that allows that to happen in his/her district should be held responsible. There is one exception...in thriving schools, many teachers are pushing their kids to learn real skills and forcing kids to think. Thinking is not allowed on the state test. Spit back responses that state wants. And so, the prepping that is done in high achieving districts is to SLOW THE KIDS DOWN! Don't write engaging, wide-casting attention grabbers for your essay since that is seen as "lack of focus" in your writing. Don't expand upon the text since that is not "relevant text based details"
