  1. Looks like mange or he is auditioning to be Dr. Evil's new hairless pet.
  2. I'd smoke all them pigs and slap them on a roll with some BBQ sauce! But seriously, I see a vocabulary lesson for my 6th grade English class in the works!
  3. Thanks landtrac- three I have found so far are wholly smokes, Rogers and woodstone BBQ - wholly smokes is the only one that's not a buffet but no mention of hush puppies on menu....do these names sound familiar?
  4. Any great, off the beaten path bbq places at which I need to eat en route to Disney? I am willing to venture off 95 a bit in search of pulled pork and brisket. We are stopping in Florence, South Carolina to sleep and near Parris Island on the way home.
  5. Great repurposing of materials - gonna pay off I'm sure!
  6. My buddy shot them for the first time last season with great success. Three deer all dropped with 100 yards but interestingly we noticed there was very little in ways of a bloodtrail. He thankfully saw all those deer drop but if not tracking would have been difficult. He LOVES them regardless.
  7. Just got permission to hunt an apple orchard since the farmer is sick of all the deer eating from his trees - I guess I should decline since that is like a food plot AND baiting when they fall to the ground
  8. Stitching is leather cord I bought at a craft store
  9. I'm still waiting for mine-always get nervous when I feel like I am the last to get e'm
  10. I shot a few times today with thunderheads. Seem to fly right - I only set up two of the five - the blades on one of the heads seem to jiggle a bit-side to side regardless of how hard tightened it- the other locked down great
  11. Sounds like one tough SOB(term or respect in my circle-no offense intended!)....Here's to a speedy recovery
  12. Any users out there? I am looking to get away from mechanicals and go towards fixed blades and thunderheads seem to offer the best deal - 5 for $39 @ Dicks. What are they lacking that drives their price down?
  13. Need more details..time of year? Area hunting? Targeted species? Regardless, extra fire starters that you are used to working
  14. How about that piece of sinew running through some of those cuts-that's gotta be rough to stomach raw?
  15. See that's whati don't get about some of the posted beards...my favorite part of a beard is not having to shave at all, let alone "groom" - beards should be less work, not more in my opinion - an old priest used to tell me, "let go, let God" I say, "let GROW, let God!"
  16. She's got 6 week to sharpen up her skills and loose that bravado or else she's gonna loose a lot more! Great video work
  17. Thanks guys. I may look for a shoe insert(dr sholls or something) to deal with the foot sweat -something with some backbone may also help keep Docs thorns from sticking me every step. Borrowing the pattern from that kit was real helpful - now I need to make some modifications for smaller sizes since my daughter ( a new believer who doubted me!) is demanding a pair since she did some of the softening!
  18. I hate shaving so hunting season sets a good excuse to let it grow. I usually start mid September but it is typical off by thanksgiving since the wife hates it.
  19. I'm really happy with how these turned out since this was my first attempt tanning a deer hide and working with buckskin. I found a leather pattern for moccasins in a craft store and copied it using the buckskin I made for the moccasins. Long process from harvest (12/23/12 in Westchester) to my first final product but it was enjoyable even though it held some frustration at times.
  20. Anyone ever own/use the smart silver full draw odor killing blind? Set up? Breakdown? Dimensions are 68x68x80. Listed in Sportsman Guide catalog for $134.99. Seems like a great price for th size. I'm hoping to take my kids along with me as I bow hunt this year. I would be more comfortable standing while I shoot so this gives that as an option. Most others top out at 6' s. would need to get good at seated shots.
  21. Here Is my finalized trip now that it is less than two weeks away. Heading just outside of Washington, D.C. For three days to visit some family. Then stopping halfway in Flourence, South Carolina for a night- staying one night in Orlando before 4 days in Disney (music resort with the meal plan) - four days in New Smyrna Beach with some family. Two nights camping on Cumberland Island, Ga (thanks Kzcycle-I'm most excited about this!) - stopping in Savannah, GA for an afternoon but then continuing to Beaufort, South Carolina to visit my cousin who is in his second year as a Marine - from Beaufort we will spend two nights in Virginia Beach. Our final stop is one night in Lancaster, PA - maybe a farmstay (i need to eat at Good and Plenty again!). Then I'll drop the family in Westchester at home and I will just keep going north for some quiet and isolation!!!
  22. Free doe tags with the purchase of the lifetime. I believe the lifetime is good for whatever state you live in afte purchase which is why I Bought it for my twin sons before the price jacked up a few years back. Money is always tight and after you get married it gets tighter!!! I bough in stages - first just fishing at 21, then added sportsman at 25 and finally bow at 30 - SO worth it for me since I was always the one scrambling to get my license the day before the season starts - now it arrives in my mailbox well before I need it!
  23. Fantastic...where's the grill?
