  1. Bow or gun? Gun i do, bow i don't. Idk why but its just what i do!
  2. The reason i think they are under spined is the box i have states 300 spine for a 30 inch arrow out of a 70lb "soft" cam bow.
  3. Nap sling blades for me, they swivel around ribs and Devistate the vitals, I’ve confirmed this after shooting 5 deer with them.
  4. Not to far off, I try to hit opposite shoulder on my shots with most angles.
  5. Lets say for instance it passes, people up north get xbows and become proficient (places that are hard to get doe tags and people that wouldn't hunt with a compound). They then go out and shoot 2 does with there "archery" tags. Now the gun hunters are pissed off because they have 0 chance at a doe tag. Just a hypothetical scenario that folks could run into.
  6. I agree with you, I don't think cross bow is a piece of archery equipment, plus when you throw a hand crank on one and now people are not even pulling a string back at all. Personally don't care about more hunters in the woods, my wife wants one to hunt those two weeks. I guess my only real gripe about them is when they are called "archery" equipment. And that is nothing against anyone who does not have the time to practice or is disabled, trust me i understand having 2 kids.
  7. Deer move all the time, you just gotta get closer to them. I shot my doe in a t-shirt Monday. Cams show movement 7-9 am 12-1pm and 5pm-dark for me.
  8. For reference i did use the decimator 350s this year for practice and still use them as back up. i shoot an Elite energy 32 27.5 dl 65 lb with 27.75 inch arrows. I have never had these arrows fly sloppy. In my opinion you need a 300 spine arrow, its better to be a touch stiff than the other way around. Also consider that these are .006 straightness arrows and your using them at full length. I shorten them a lot and they perform well. I am also budget minded in archery, you can find some good used arrows on archery talk or if you want new id recommend some Black eagles in .003 or .001 straightness for that length. There prices are pretty good.
  9. If she fell over that fast i'm betting an major artery or vein. Sometimes better to be lucky than good!
  10. I used body bags when I had a suv, hack saw off feet first.
  11. regardless of your percentage, keep improving on what you did wrong last time and it will go up! I was more confident that ever this year and still jacked up a shot. Everyone messes up a shot as some point and as long as you give that animal everything you have to find it your fine by me. Nothing is wasted in nature.
  12. i HATE latter stands for bow, i smacked a cam off one before trying to shoot a doe. i now have a hang on just above and to the side of my ladder stands so i have a double set in each spot and i do have to buy ladder sticks.
  13. Personally no, however i will not object if enough people push for it. To me a cross bow is not a bow, therefore should not be an "archery" kill. I'm sure people said the same thing about a compound when it happened though. 1) Do you support Full Inclusion of Crossbows into the NY Bow Season? no2) Do you want to see the arbitrary restrictions on Draw Weight and Limb Width removed? not sure 3) Do you believe crossbows should be permitted to be used by everyone in all Archery Only areas? no 4) Do you believe we should be using the Bow Privilege instead of the Muzzleloader Privilege? no 5) Are you a current 2018 NYCC Member? no
  14. I've been sitting by 6am. sun comes up a few minutes later each day!
  15. my 30 yard pin is used if i'm on the ground within 8 or so yards. you gotta account for the difference between your sight picture and actual arrow path. For sure low, a clean miss is never a bad thing though!
  16. Well after a crappy morning hitting one in the brisket and stomping all over my small urban hunting area looking for her i was not expecting much this evening but knew that deer are all over here. 530 pm i have 3 does coming up from down wind of me... not good. They have no clue i'm there and the constant noise of people driving by and getting home from work keeps them distracted. All three start feeding on my clover mix 20 yards in from of me and i have plenty of time to pick my shot, quartering away 20 yards.. smacked her, drilled opposite shoulder. she didn't make it 35 yards on a dead spring. Arrow and Broad head are toast but was well worth it. After this the other two deer continue to eat the clover under me and have no care in the world, i would have shot another but decided not to due to time restraints so i just started snapping photos and videos. Got to see some cool deer communication with bleats and such. Had to have wife and kid go for a walk to my stand and jump them outa there( they literally trotted 50 yards and just watched us), let the 5 year old track with a flashlight and he did pretty well. A blind man could follow this blood trail.
  17. I’ll update later, I had deer sureounding me till dark had to have my wife and stepson come for a walk and scare them off, 5 year old got to track even though i knew where she was. Lots of blood.
  18. Been no wind here all day. Makes it tough to move and shoot.
  19. Well i just rebounded fast, go in stand, 5 minutes later just got a doe. Big one and dead in sight.
  20. Well got the neighbors permission at 4, jumped her again, checked the bed and there was only a few drops of blood. She looked to be in good shape, hopefully no infection.
