  1. If they got themselves a B-17 and a Lancaster they could do the Dresden firebombing re-enactment. Fairly uncommon at small shows to get Japanese WW2 vintage planes; roughly 10 Zero's are flight worthy in the world. I think there is only one matching numbers plane, all the rest are assembled with multiple parts from many air frames. Interesting story on capturing a Zero and the intelligence gathered helped allied pilots who feared the plane and pilots to this point (book mentioned is a good read); https://www.history.com/news/the-akutan-zero-how-a-captured-japanese-fighter-plane-helped-win-world-war-ii You tube a Ronald Reagan video of him playing a pilot recognizing what a Zero looks like. I see Davis Windmiller is also scheduled; get a chance to see him he is hell of a pilot (nice guy too).
  2. Live from my desk tying fishing lures up for a trip; but I keep glassing the woods out the window anyway to see what crosses out of the park. Seen same one antler spike and a crotch horn so far..... Somebody shoot something!
  3. Peltors' can be pricey depending on model but are thin and amazing. I have tried Sport-Ear type and plain molded plugs but just can't seem to get used to them and my ear shape doesn't work well with them. I can't use temporary foam plugs at all. I've been trying to wear more protection in field and easy in blind; a little harder a foot depending on how things are going. Did a lot of rifle shooting on a hunt this year and last afield, was happy I made the effort. Wasn't 100% of the time, but better then nothing. Looked it up; I have 300 sport tactical and they came with carry case and extra set soft ear cups; the electronic control is supposed to be better then some less expensive models in reaction time and hearing ambient sounds.
  4. Whatever you do don't put your tags in your pocket and spill a container of acetone all over yourself. They melt. Ask me how I know. Dumb ass.
  5. Coast to Coast never disappoints.....Squatch footage from Canada. https://www.coasttocoastam.com/article/sasquatch-filmed-in-canada/
  6. Out in yard working on skidsteer and small doe came by at 10 yds and stood there checking back trail. Little spike with just one tiny antler came along sniffing all the way. I'm not sure either really knows what they are doing but instinct will help out. She headed doe the valley toward a stand I have with him in tow and they kicked up a red fox as I watched in binoculars. That fox has become a regular here and see him often. May blow off what I'm working on to see if a bigger boy comes along to check out the commotion.
  7. I work in the trades......a good percentage of all the guys on a job site deer hunt. I know one who doesn't bait along with myself. I just assume every deer I see a pic of was baited, and get surprised if its not.
  8. Ginsberg fell and broke 3 ribs and is in hospital today....one step closer?
  9. Anyone see the DEC email today where the guy in the City of Utica shot the doe over corn in his back yard out his window and the buck at night in his driveway? Worth a good chuckle.
  10. Could get interesting. Politicians don't like falling behind and California and yesterday Washington State passed laws that makes NY look behind. Cuomo likes to hang his hat on having the "best" or "toughest".
  11. If you can't find anyone local, its no big deal to mail a barrel.... google "JD Jones.....SSK Industries".....does lots of contender/encore work and charges around $85 for cut and crown IIRC.
  12. Last time hunting deer for this year most likely. Slow year on public land. 2 does just wouldn't take 2 steps forward to clear thicket and drifted away, awesome clean red fox with no mange, and a coyote on way in and had a stand off. Had arrow knocked but couldn't get clear shot. Damn that would have been better then deer kill.
  13. Looks like paint damage to me now that you posted pics. Sometimes one needs to be insistent or ask for a supervisor. Anyway, good luck.
  14. Just curious who said that? Thats why deer in NY are NOT does and bucks; but antlered and antlerless.
  15. Should have called police and filed about the mud and mischief with your vehicle. You have no standing to pursue trespass until you own it.
  16. Nice day around me, someone started sighting in by me mid day, and I thought that sounded better than blowing leaves. After I started 2 more folks in opposite directions joined in. LOL
  17. Mike Rossi play book.....way to influence your target audience.
  18. Getting kinda late in season, but I caught a open house type event at a shop that had demo's and manufacturer reps (and discounts) back in early summer. Tried a Voltbike and a GT, as former road bike enthusiast (I raced and did long distance touring) I have to admit they were lots of fun. Maybe check a few manufacturers social media spots like facebook and call some shops.
  19. Nothing says heirloom like hand packed bone color case hardening....
  20. Doug Turnbull did some with wood. Must be pics on his website. Not my cup of tea. Same with gold plated 1911's.
  21. I have both; and like both. Doing woodworking, actually the better quality the wood stock the easier it is to clean up any boo-boo's; tough are those pimped out Weatherby/Browning glossy finishes, they need a new spray job. Not terrible to do ,but oil finish is easy to fix up and a new wipe has them looking nice. Tupperware works good for rough terrain, lots of moisture. I have one rifle identical in wood and synthetic and for that one the wood is lighter and a nice carry. Hunted that gun a bunch, and has seen steam and sandpaper a few times.
  22. Amazing isn't it? The phrase "you can't fix stupid" comes to mind.
