These days with good weather I'm using the tractor to repair / fill parts of the main trail and also bring back logging scraps withing reach as things progress. The splitter can be used vertically to roll stump cuts instead of having to hoist them up. Its only a little more work. Pic shows 1/2 hour's worth. But it was friggin hot that day, sweated like a welfare addict on the last day of the month.

I would love to take a day at camp and just 'kick back'. There's too much work to get done, always something to do up there. Especially now & with a decent forecast.

Did some research on the Dunstan's - in a nutshell (haha) they are American Chestnut with spliced in Chinese Chestnut genes for blithe resistance. The native American Chestnut all but wiped out because of it. So now the research has gotten something like 90+/-% of the native qualities back retaining blithe resistance. I'd be interested in planting about 1/2 dozen despite the price except I'm in zone 4 and they say these trees are 5+. Good luck.

One of the best things about being in the woods, not just hunting, is catching a moment like that.

Not as dramatic but over last weekend while I was using the 885N w/bucket moving some #4 fill I had to stop the tractor twice and escort box turtles to the other side of the road. One of them sort of leaked water from all sides when I picked it up, thought it tried to wizz on me for a moment. I think they are nesting right about this time.

So the bottom line is there are more rights for those who commit crimes, even something petty like trespassing, then there are rights to protect land owners. In other words we own land so we have the privilege of paying more taxes and a higher risk of being sued. Hate to say it but this is why I don't like to invite people. And I would suspect why many are hesitant to get youth involved on their property. Bet the anti's love that.

Just put a few out end of May. Usually have them out beginning of the month but lots of other work to do on the place this year. Using one for an eye on one of the access trails this time.
