  1. Still cannot find it easily in the Syracuse area. The super expensive match grade stuff is available at some stores, but its well over $10 for a box of 50....No thanks. I bought an air rifle last year just for the fact I could readily buy pellets...and the pellet rifles of today are pretty accurate. Mine will hollow out a quarter sized target at about 30 yards.
  2. I use Antler Insanity(free) on my Iphone 6. There are a bunch and all of them are pretty much the same...weather, stand locations, areal maps...etc. Scoutlook is good I hear, but I havent pulled the trigger on the $4.99 in the app store. I use the Wifi setting at home and at work, so my data RARELY goes over 1G. Being out in the woods, and using the app doesnt really use alot of data anyways. Do all your updates and such over a Wifi internet connection and it wont suck up data....... with 2.5 you should be just fine if you do that. Also if your going for a "long Haul" with a phone ie not upgrading every year or so...I like to get maybe 3 years or so out of a phone if it doesnt physically break....dont cheap out and get the free phone. With the way technology leapfrogs, the "free" phone will be obsolete and slow within a year, as they are free because they are already old. Plus that free cost just gets sprinkled onto your bill over the life of the contract. When my wife and I upgraded to New phones, we kept the same plan, and our bill was about $15 less per month than it was in the past with Free phones.
  3. yep, just a simple squeeze will turn it on.
  4. http://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Make-a-Free-Tactical-Pressure-Switch/?ALLSTEPS This guy made a pressure switch to turn on his red-dot. Made for a paintball marker....but still cool idea. This could easily be done to a turkey gun, no movement, and no worries of dead battery due to leaving it on by accident.
  5. Good Morning, I bought my son a used Mission Menace for his upcoming birthday next month. The bow is in good shape, but I'm going to have a new string put on it along with a matching one on my bow. Since my son is only turning 6, the bow will be set to its minimum poundage, and then we will set it to his draw length. My question is should I start him with a release? Or is it easier to start with a shooting glove? Mainly wondering so that I can get the nock point set with either extra serving or a D-loop. I want this to be the "easiest" transition for him. Just curious as to what other parents have done. Thanks
  6. Hey everyone. I'm thinking of upgrading my bowsight, and have comtemplated the micro adjusters that are built in on some sights. Are they worth the extra money? In theory would you even have to use them after the bow is tuned and sighted in? Anyone who has used or currently uses them I would like some feed back. Thanks.
  7. CAD jockey! I design and draw(3D) equipment tooling for assembly lines. Mostly Automotive components.
  8. http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/26129-what-else-to-do-with-stew-meat/ I asked the same question a while ago...lots of good ideas in this thread. Enjoy!
  9. (numrich.com) gun parts corp. I found mags for my old out of service 9mm here, much better prices than Ebay.
  10. What is the screw in question holding? Trigger guard to the stock? I ask because it doesnt sound like a machine screw, and is probably not holding any metal parts to the stock? You could always clean up the hole in question and then use some Delrin or other hard "plastic" material and make a slug for the hole. Press fit into place, and drill out the slug to receive the screw. Having access or knowing someone in a machine shop can help alot with this. You might be able to find delrin or acrylic stock at home improvement stores, if not, it can be easily ordered online. OR you could do this to both holes so they are the same, then use new screws...Use a knurled threaded inserts like these: http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-threaded-inserts/=vdnezy
  11. Thanks I enjoy the yoga, its harder than it looks. I had the unbearable pain for about 3-4 months, and moderate/aggrivating pain for a few months leading upto and after the worst of it. I did PT and that helped some, excersize helped a little bit but didn't last long, the daily strain was exhausting. I am doing some yoga that works full body, and I add in lowerback and hamstring specific stretches at the end of my routine...it has helped alot, and I am feeling better than I have in months. I am still going to be cautious of over doing it. I have heard alot of good things about the DDP Yoga program, so I may try that after a few months. DR said I dont need surgery and the injections are optional, but I am hoping to not do those either.
  12. Yep, doing 3 or 4 days a week of yoga. No weights right now, I have a herniated disc and it ruined my summer of 2014, and much of my deer season. I am determined to be pain free and have my mobility back by the summer of 2015.
  13. I sold my first gen Optima, and am looking to upgrade to a Stainless steel version with the QRBP design(or a Wolf). I also like the new break open lever, just has a much cleaner look. I may also look into the Apex(yes its more $$) but I like the idea of having the ability to change barrels.
  14. YEP. I was going to say the same about ArcheryTalk.com in the classifieds. I've seen some amazing deals in there. You could also comb Ebay for a few weeks and see what pops up. Top end bows all over...most of them already set up and ready to go. Good luck on what ever you end up with.
  15. Trying this one today, meat is in the crock pot right now! Thanks for the ideas everyone!
  16. I tried to shred it like pulled pork, but I haven't found a BBQ sauce that pairs well with the venison....much different than shredding pork or chicken breast. I did just find a recipe for venison gyros...Sounds great, I may try that.
  17. Ok, so aside from the traditional crock pot stew...What else have others done with Venison stew meat?
  18. OHHHHH that looks awesome. Pair it with a side of mushrooms and wash down with a nice IPA!
  19. I strayed from this one year.....I will never do that again. This is the staple gift for the 3 big days of the year....Christmas, V-Day, and B-day.
  20. I want it to be done.... BUT.....if I had to make a list: - Ruger American .223 - CVA Apex Muzzleloader - Summit Viper Elite SD climber stand - $1,000 loose cash as a start for all the other small stuff I cant think of right now...
  21. Nice. I have never tried to go squirrel hunting. I may try this year...I just looked and season goes through end of February.
  22. ^ This! Except I am investing in a quality climber stand (Summit or Lone Wolf). I plan on doing more scouting in the spring and late summer/early fall, to try to get some better patterns of travel, and familiarize/plan MY travel routes. I also plan on hitting up a few "new to me" spots that I never really checked out before. I hunt almost exclusively public/state land, and I want to get some spots that are closer to home. I basically had 2 main spots that I went to for the last few years(40 Mins away from home), and this past season I only ever saw one deer in the woods, and she busted me from behind. Every single sit, I saw ZERO deer, but kept going back...I was frustrated out by Thanksgiving. Perhaps even check out a few "bowhunting only" areas a week or so after Gun season starts, never tried that before, and always wanted too. TL;DR: More stand locations, different/more land locations to goto.
