  1. I use cable locks on all my hang-on stands on my land. I don't have any real concerns about my neighbors stealing them. But, I think the locks will stop anyone who might trespass and be tempted. I never leave blinds or climbing sticks in the woods unless I'm up there and will be in the woods. Cameras are a different story. I don't lock them up- I just hope for the best. Haven't had any problems in the five years that I've owned this property. But, I've had stands and cameras stolen from other property in the past.
  2. It's amazing how quickly the personal insults start on these threads as soon as someone doesn't agree with the crowd.

  4. Anyone else see this?: I posted this in another section, but probably should have put it here. https://www.foxnews.com/great-outdoors/new-york-hunters-fined-after-deer-thought-to-be-dead-jumps-from-truck

  6. look up Elite Long Island Outfitters. They do goose hunts in fields on the east end and have a good reputation. They also do hunts on the water for puddle ducks, sea ducks and geese.
  7. I bought a kit to repair my waders. it came with a couple of patches for the neoprene part and a tube of goop for the rubber parts. I had a couple of tears in the rubber parts and the goop worked well. the kit cost about $7 on amazon. https://www.gearaid.com/products/aquaseal-repair-kit
  8. There are loads of birds out here. A spring season would be great.
  9. 'Elevation Mode' is kinda what I assumed 'AI' meant. Seems like there'd be no reason not to use it?
  10. I just bought a new range finder because I accidentally left mine outside in last weekend's nor'easter. The instructions that came with the new one are pretty useless. It has a regular mode and an 'AI' mode. The 'AI' mode looks like it's meant to be used when there is an elevation difference between the shooter and the target. Does anyone have/use something similar for bowhunting from a treestand.
  11. Maybe but if he is home why does he still have all his hunting camo clothes on ? He shot the buck after 6pm. The photo was probably taken the following day- I'd imagine that it was pretty dark by the time he recovered the deer. If I shot that deer, I'd want photos with good daylight.
  12. Oh great, the conspiracy team is here. No chance he posed for that picture at home like lots of the photos on this site with deer hanging in their garage?
  13. There aren't any public ATV trails on Long Island.
  14. The article mentions that it was killed on public ground. All of Long Island is essentially suburban. There are a few relatively large tracts of public ground that wouldn't be considered 'residential'. The public ground here on Long Island is not where you'd find those 'tame' deer. That would be in the residential parts of the Island. But, those truly residential areas are actually in peoples' backyards- private land- and there are plenty of guys who hunt those properties.
  15. The moderators always seem to lose control of these things and the audience gets nothing out of it. Their microphones should be turned off and on at prescribed intervals to keep them from talking over each other and to force them to stay within the agreed upon time allowed to respond to questions.
  16. Right. I think that’s because, in that case, the adult is considered to be responsible for the youth. If you have a stamp and you’re the responsible adult, no need for the cameraman to have one. Good luck this weekend. We’ll be out there also. Weather looks warm.
  17. When I do it in the oven, I crank it as high as it’ll go-525 convection. The hotter the better, unless your dough is very thick. As far as seasoning, don’t treat it like cast iron. If you rub oil on it, it’ll just smoke like crazy. It’ll get seasoned as you use it. I don’t use a peel. I use a rimless baking sheet with a generous amount of flour on it. You don’t want the pizza sticking when you’re trying to slide it onto the hot stone.
  18. Yes. Get the stone screaming hot before the pizza goes on it. I use mine on the grill in the summer and it works great.
  19. Can anyone explain why the NRA would pick a fight with Thomas the Train- the kids show? I don’t know how to do links. But, it’ll be easy to find if anyone is interested.
  20. I hate small dogs. But, someone was probably pretty upset about losing a pet.
