I’ve used it for years and have seen it work well on property I’ve hunted in the past. I’ve had my current property for four seasons and haven’t found it to be as effective- there are a lot of deer on this property, especially does, and I think there’s so much real scent on the ground that the bottled stuff goes unnoticed. I’ll still use an estrus scent during the rut. I’m also gonna try Nose Jammer this year during bow season for a better cover scent.

Dole Whip is awesome, especially with the rum added. That was one of the best parts of our Disney trip last year.

I know. Those were last year and the year before. I’m still pretty new to turkey hunting and probably rushed it a bit. My bird this year bought it at about 30.

I use an SBE2 also. I use a Carlson choke that is made to match the Longbeard XR ammo. I’ve killed two birds at 60 yards.

Holy crap. I meant no offense to lovers of bacon and cheese. Bacon and cheese are two of my favorite food groups. Too bad that thread about coyote dens died.

I knew someone would say that. I meant that, it seems that a lot of game recipes start with wrapping the meat in bacon and stuffing it with something. Probably tastes great. But, seems more like an effort to hide the flavor of the meat. Breading and frying might technically be considered ‘doctoring it up’ , but doesn’t really mask the flavor of the meat.

I haven’t found that you need to doctor up the breast with bacon or anything else. I like to slice it thin and then bread it and fry it like chicken cutlets. Comes out great.

Turkeyfeathers, ask your brother if he knows of a guy named Craig Matthews. About twenty years ago, I was fishing on the Firehole River and ran into a local flyshop owner who offered some really helpful advice. Turns out that he’s a legend in the fly fishing industry.

I think they have about the right amount of hackle. It just takes practice. Lots and lots of practice. After a while, you’ll be able to crank out a dozen flies in no time. But, you gotta get the right tools- starting with a decent vice.
