My wife and I have been together since we were 13. About mid November when hunting gets good she will start on me about taking a break. I'll have to remind her that I haven't changed in the 17 years we have been together and I won't be changing anytime soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My antique crono won't turn on. What kind does everyone recommend. Use it for bows and guns. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I dress light myself but I don't spend much time in a stand. When hunting with new people in often asked "that's what you're wearing?" I also wear my toque over my baseball hat but mostly because it keeps my sunglasses from fogging. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh my bad, when I wrote buck state I was referring to a state people would travel to hunt because of the bucks being killed, like many of the Midwest states that have short gun seasons. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Count me in! I did a little balloon shooting tonight with my 2 main rifles 35rem and 35whelen pumps getting ready for our annual tire shoot tomorrow. This year it might turn into a pool party with the temps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lol The problem is there is no way to make everyone happy. NY cares about money and the guy that hunts opening weekend on public land probably doesn't spend 100$ in a year on hunting. Many Landowners/leasers spend 10+X that in year on hunting. As soon as NY figures this out they will start catering it. The guy who hunts public land a few times a year is becoming a minority I don't know if this is good or bad and I'm not saying I'm in favor of it but it's on it's way wether we want it or not, especially if the state thinks they can make more money if NY became a "buck state." But if they shortened gun season there would be a longer bow season. I work in a mill and we fight over vacation time now if you don't have 30years on the job you aren't getting a vacation day during SZ gun season now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To get back on topic Larry quit being cheap and get the wife a Subaru! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm not much for fashion much to my wife's despair if I'm wearing shorts it's usually with crocks or boots both of which my wife despises! Hell I still wear suspenders regularly but not often in public I guess she has broke me of that. With all the labels that Subaru drivers have I wonder what category they put me in when I get out of one with cargo shorts, a t shirt with the sleeves cut off, boots and suspenders? A buck that weighs 200lbs in the middle of November is a very rare NY deer. There is a big difference between 200lbs in October and 200lbs in the middle of November. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Where are those plots?
Buckmaster7600 replied to growalot's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Big shout out to Wolc! Although we often disagree he gave me some awesome advice on the fishing line and it gave a few of my plots a chance to finally take hold after severe over browse. Thanks again Wolc! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I think if there was a study done you would see that of the many hunters that actually kill deer regularly kill them after opening weekend. How many of the hunters that only hunt opening weekend actually kill deer? My guess is not many. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My Dream gun.......
Buckmaster7600 replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
How's she shoot? I have had a handful of blr's they are pretty guns! The only one that stayed was the 358win. Had a 270short mag that was the best shooter in the bunch " would hold 1"@100yds" but didn't care for the cartridge. All the other blr's were honest 1.5-2" guns. My dream gun hasn't been built yet. I want a semi or pump with in overall length around 35" a 16" barrel that weighs under 5lbs scoped in 35 rem or 358 Winchester. I'm probably as close as I'll ever be with my current Remington 7615 in 450 bushmaster. Should be around 6.5lbs scoped Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Then why are the big buck states that people spend a ton of money to go hunt the states with the shortest gun seasons? With some of the highest hunter participation and out of state tag sales? Once again sorry but you're wrong bud. Just to be clear as I stated earlier in this post and many times prior I don't want the state to change anything I like the challenge of hunting here and haven't had much trouble shooting mature bucks. You contradict yourself when you say "want all young deer shot make season 3 days" but right before that you said they don't get old by being dumb and they have to make a mistake? If season is months long the they have a lot more time to make the mistake you speak of. If you don't think shortening our seasons would help put age on our deer herd than there is no reason trying to explain any more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have fished metcalf a few times. Plenty of small trout. I fished another pond in the area a week ago and see very well with a 3" gulp smelt on a jig head. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'll be totally honest this is the reason why I hate setting any kind of standards like this. This is how I judge a deer, is my heArt pounding? Does the buck get me excited? Do I want to kill one today and where I am? I fall of these boxes are checked the trigger gets pulled. For the last 10+ years that has only happened to 3 1/2 yr olds+ but if that buck checked the boxes he's dying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Shoot, tough angle but I would bet 3. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Never hunted western NY but have hunted a few Midwest states and hunter density out there is the reason I won't go back during s firearms season. Way too many people hunting out there for my liking! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
