Some pics - These two bucks are not the same are they?
Fletch replied to burmjohn's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
It really looks like the same buck to me. The right main has a curve to it where the left is straighter. Point lengths match up. -
I got mine as a gift from my wife in 97. She got me the supersportsman for 500 and bow for 125. So 15 years now and paid for it self a long time ago now. I got my sons when he was 4, he is 10 now.

Wow down to 7 days!! The cold nights have been getting me more excited! I have got to get my clothes all washed up and my packback organized this week. My buddy in GA got a doe yesterday and called me for tracking advice and got me more excited! Two loins marinated in the fridge headed for the grill.

Congratz!! Very nice animals there. I always wondered how good they taste?? And can you even logistically or legally get meat home or do you donate it all there??

I use the Tecnu as well. It is a scrub and i leave it right in the shower. I come in from woods work and wash my wrists and face with it as instructed. Also use it if the rash shows up. It is the best I have found with a little calamine on the worse spots. I never got it as a kid and then started getting it multiple times a year, and a few time real bad just about whole body. I hate the stuff and have tried it all. My wife tried a jewelweed tea she made and washed the rash with it and had some luck with that as well. This one I have not tried. I have tried every product in the store as well as lye soap, bleach, gasoline....... when you have it bad believe me you will try anything!

The time is coming quick to start the season once again! I am not sure I am really thrilled about the early start. I do not want to hunt some spots that early for fear of hoggin them up before the bucks start chasing. I have been getting ready though. I built a big tower blind so the kids could sit with me and have more cover and cover up their figiting. The old man is trying to talk us into building a staicase to it for him!! My son and I put up a new ladder stand down farther in the hole a month or so ago. Got some new arrows and broadheads and been shooting. Also am looking to try lighted nocks this year. I am fearing the possibility of a big aquisition at work may hog up my fall hunting. If it kicks in soon I may be on the road a lot. You guys that know me will realize how much that will bum me out due to how much time I spend in the woods. I may have to live through your guys journels so keep on them!! Well off to fillet some bass and cook up my sons squirrel for his supper. 16 days yikes!!

Shooting is improving! We went 1 for 1 Wednesday. My son was stoked to see a big barred owl perched about 20 yards from us.

Ouch! that is plain wrong! The dog found a ground nest Sunday afternoon. I was catchin up on some football and all the sudden I hear my daughter start screaming outside. Kids runnin all over dog as well. Get dog in the house. Jackets are comin out of her fur. She was not a happy dog. Hid in the closet and under the desk the rest of the night. I located the nest today so tonight they will be feeling a little burn them selves when I cook their a$$e$.

Went out with my 10 year old son Saturday. I was 0 for 5 with the pellet gun! We did walk up a 1.5 year old one antlered 2 point at about 30 yards stood looking at us. My son spotted him as he did a small yote at about the same distance. We went back Sunday with the 22 and did better at 1 for 3. Deep fried him but the boy says he liked parboiled and sauted in butter better. We might just head out tonight for anothr round.

Photo of new property for me to hunt, lets see where you would hunt.
Fletch replied to carloracer1987's topic in Deer Hunting
My first was the 2 Ts like the rest said. But my next question would be what is everyone around you planting? If there are a certain something growing in one field that they want and no one else has there might be other potential stands. Along those same lines, any secluded natural food source? Acorns, apples.... -
Great topic!! I was born in 67 so I qualify!! The biggest difference I notice is we were outside ALL the time. After school, all summer and all winter. I have a 10 year old and 12 year old and there is no way I would let them out of my site from dawn to dusk like we were. You did not have to worry about so many wackos and shit when we were kids. And all the neighbors kept an eye on all the kids. My neighbors had permission to chew our asses! Now I have lived where I am now 10 years and still do not know some of the neighbors! I certainly do not trust people nowadays. When I was 14 I would walk from the house through a strip mall parking lot, across a very busy road, through the bowling alley lot to the woods to rabbit, squirrel... hunt. No body looked at me twice. If a kid made that walk now with a gun the cops would be called how many times?? And this was the burbs not out in the country. And criminies with all the helmets for the bikes and skate boards and safety this and that........ How did we ever survive!!

I was down in Charlotte working at a new location for my company a few weeks back. I am managing the construction and all of that. I am in the warehouse and go to pick up a box of trim molding and just catch something move near my hand and drop it. Over come on of my guys a local and there are two quarter size spiders there. He is oh yea those are nasty. They were brown recluse spiders, two inches from my hand. The next week my security guy running wire runs into a black widow and later another recluse. Could not get back to NY fast enough! On my way back down next week though.

You can do with or with out a holder but it is a lot easier with a can holder. I take a piece of kitchen twine and just put a tie around the body to hold the wings to the body to keep from burning. Drink half the beer or soda and rinse and pat dry the bird I rub on a bit of evo and some rub. Check with a thermometer for doneness. Simple and very tasty.

Love these threads! I had an encounter one night, coming out I had to cross a stream over a downed log. I get half way and from the other side here comes a porky. I shouted at him and stomped my foot he did not care I was movin not him. I had to back off log or fight him so I backed off. Had another time at the old house I had one spot I would sneak to before light for first watch. I had to cross some flooded timber about 40 yards of it or so. I could just do it by sliding my feet as the water came to about an inch from the tops of my rubber boots. It is pitch black out and with my lttle light I am about halfway across when a whole flippin flock of turkeys about 6 feet above my head spook and start flying evrywhere bouncing off everything. At first I did not realize what was happening and scared the bejeezus outa me and yes I landed on my a$$ in the water. That sucked!

I have 3 packs of loins, 6 packs of steaks, maybe 10 pounds of burger and 15 or so pounds of various sausage I made, Oh and 5 packs of sticks. Most all of this will be gone in a month except a few sausages. I had two in the freezer so had to make it last. I will do up a big chilli and a burger vegi soup that will kill most of the burger. The steaks go quick and I save a few to fry up on the taigate to have on bread with horsey sauce during break in bow with the boys. YUM The sticks I had to hide to keep this long! And I am sure my bro will be stealing more sausage.
