You have no idea how tactical and deeply strategic those tweets are, and can be. You're apparently just not getting it. President Trump is able to get precisely the reaction he wants from the leftist media, any time he wants, and then to use it against them. The media has become like a roomful of kittens with laser pointers taped to their heads. Trump walks in now and then and turns the pointers on. The media exhausts themselves while he goes about his business. If the media were fair, this wouldn't be necessary.

She's very smart, very business savvy, and an excellent orator/communicator. People would vote for her. But I don't think she has one inclination to run the country, and she wouldn't accept the hassle. I can't imagine she's ever given it any thought, whereas Trump has been thinking about for over thirty years. Oprah interviewed Trump in 1989 on her show, asking about any potential presidential ambitions. Trump said he wouldn't do it unless things got so bad that he thought he needed to step up. Things got bad...and we now have President Trump. This was not a last-minute whim, folks.

I'll comply, but I will do so very grudgingly. And there isn't a cop within 40 miles of me who thinks I'm wrong about that.

The gun-grabbers want the guns in the end, but in the meantime they'll throw roadblocks in the way of legal possession in any way they can. That's what the SAFE Act was about.

Some dogs like the cold and some don't. Some people like the cold and some don't. I had a German Shepard/ Husky mix that wouldn't come in the house in the winter no matter what. And during the summer she hid under the deck most of the time. She was a cold-weather dog. She also dug out some pretty incredible 'snow forts' and tunnels.

It's almost like some people are channeling Uptown Redneck on here. ;-]

Many folks are holding out to the late days of the re-certification program out of protest. I feel for the men and women in the NYSP who will have to deal with the bottleneck caused by a law that never should have been passed in the first place.

Hydraulic rather than pneumatic?

The only component in a house that will be damaged by freezing and thawing is something with water in it. Toilet, plumbing & piping, hydronic heating system, etc. I've lived in uninsulated houses/cabins before, and you just have to make sure there's no water left in any system if you're going to leave for even a few days. For a short hunting trip I'd skip the shower(s) unless you're willing to empty the trap in the drain when you leave. Same for sinks, of course. And get all the water out of the toilet, both tank and bowl, before you dump the antifreeze in and leave. Big boat sponges work for that. Imagine your camp is a big solid tent during the winter rather than a fully functioning house. Enjoy the pioneer spirit.

It's currently somewhere between "I aint goin out there" and, "I need to bring in firewood". If I don't do the latter the morgue won't need a cooler for my body.

Always the foil for the star straight-man in shows like "Coach". He was funny, and will be missed.

Bragging about criminal behavior is stupidity at it's finest. We see it daily.

Cuomo's State of the State
philoshop replied to ADK Native's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Cuomo is Hillary without the likeability factor. -
I've killed deer with handguns in both .357 mag and .44 mag at appropriate distances. The appropriate distance for a 9 mm would be about 15 feet. Even if you empty the magazine into the animal and kill it it's more 'shooting' than it is 'hunting'.

Be safe everyone. Snow is a hassle, but sub-zero temps and high winds can kill ya.
-
I wouldn't use a self-defense handgun to hunt deer. I don't normally hunt shirtless either, but to each his own.

I've done a few tours of the Buffalo Trace distillery. Very historic, and there is nothing they make that's bad. Even their vodka is good and I'm not a vodka drinker. And the people were always very nice. Well worth the visit if you're ever in the Frankfort/Lexington area.

Joe "gimme a big hug" Biden, Kamala "killing babies is just fine" Harris, Corey "black people deserve more respect than white people" Booker, Bernie "no country should ever be allowed to be any stronger than any other country" Sanders, Kirsten "I'm just here for the money and Chuck Schumer loans me pants now and then" Gillibrand... Strong bench...

I remember the gators were for steaks and the rattle snakes were for niblets. It was all good, and I swear I can taste that gator meat right through your photo!

I got to sip on a couple fingers of Pappy-Van-Winkle last night at a party. I had no intention of going out but my friend is a mile and a half down the road and when he called I couldn't pass it up. It was like angels dancing on my taste buds.

For me it's always the sister-in-law. I don't even have to intentionally push a button on her simple little mindset to watch the reaction. It's comical. I answer her question, and she becomes outraged at the answer. Last year I told her I was carrying a gun after she asked if that was something I would ever do. I started a thread about it on this site. This year she asked what I was doing these days and I replied that I was writing Conservative political commentary and I was a Trump supporter. It was a simple statement of fact, and an answer to her question, however my brother almost had to step in to pull her away from me and calm her down. This was minutes before the family Christmas dinner, BTW. I tried not to smile as I told her that it was neither the time nor place for that discussion, and that if she didn't want an honest answer she shouldn't have asked the question to begin with.

GREAT NEWS!!!!
philoshop replied to Steve D's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
In many ways it's not an Upstate/Downstate thing. It's an urban (dependent) vs less urban (independent) thing. Those in the cities vote for Liberal idealism, and those who live outside the cities vote for Conservative reality. The biggest urban center happens to be NYC. When you're a farmer working 16 hours a day and see the continuous election of people like Cuomo, Schumer, Gillibrand and others it becomes demoralizing and it's very hard to take the time out of your day to vote when you're demoralized. I think the Trump presidency will change much of that, and that we'll see a resurgence of this disaffected population in the coming months and years. Folks are beginning to understand that we CAN win if we try.
