  1. It will have to ship to a FFL after September 1st. Good things never last in this state
  2. Shelves are beginning to stock back up. Sportsman warehouse had a ton of 308 last I was there. Also, You have a bout a week left if you find it online to have it shipped to your doorstep.. I haven't seen lite. But I have seen fusion in 150, 165 and 180 gr.
  3. Athlon makes a good optic if you stay above the lowest/cheapest models.. Have several scopes and binos by Athlon
  4. Congrats Brother! Hope life has been well for you!
  5. It will come back regardless of rain, the lower night temps will create moisture. As long as the days aren't smoking hot. Usually early September they start to take off again and really pull some deer in. If it starts to grow good early mid September. Id give it a high clipping. It will control your weed smore than anything. And keep your clovers more palatable and preferred
  6. Got another inch or so of rain this weekend. I will say as dry as my soils are this year, the little bit of rains we got earlier in the month germinated the seeds, but no following rains and current dusty soils killed the sprouts. Even the plots i tilled.. As well as the no till. It certainly wasn't a year for no till here. That requires adequate moisture above and below ground. But each plot has germination some better than others, all got a light reseeding Friday of Hybrid Forage brassica and PTT/Radish. will reevaluate early September where Wheat and Rye will be seeded either way, for next years no till. Perennial blends in two plots to convert them harder to reach areas.. We are putting down 2gallons per acre of 9-11-9 liquid today following this last rain fall this morning. and will hit it again in 4 weeks with this 9-11-9 and a little added urea. Found urea pretty cheap for 21$ per 50# bag. I Cant wait to see how it works. I'm not one to use fertilizers. But the no till plantings and rotations have been missing for a few years now. lol.
  7. Half our lease is situated in complete AG fields, but theyre typically harvested and nothing is left for colder weather. besides the clover/hay fields and sometimes some sloppy harvested corn fields. This is part that has sevreal un picked green bean fields that are getting absolutely hammered right now.. so im hoping these seeds take off between the rows. if i had the ability id go and mow an acre or two to help them out. The other half of my lease next door to my camp is all organic farmed, and it literally has limited food sources on it, besides a neighbor who has soybeans this year. Also this half of the lease is surrounded by several neighbors who all compete for better bucks and plant food plots as well. So to out perform them is crucial imo. I want the deer on me, and not them.. Dry years like this, most wont go above and beyond to produce good plots. So i try me best to..
  8. Rains and cooler moist soils this fall will have your clover slamming again. And a mow early to Mid September to control broadleafs and your golden
  9. In terms of clover, patience is a must lol. Slow growing to start and no going during the droughts. lol
  10. Checked mine yesterday and was kinda saddened lol. Im going to give it a few more days and re check and stop being so worried lol. Feels good to plot again though.. Would have thought to have more germination than i saw yesterday. Todays sun should help. They could have been there and just covered in brown soil kind of hiding them or just starting to pop. I probably should have waited longer to check, but I'm freakin ancy this year! lol. 3" of rain since Tuesday, got another half inch yesterday as i pulled up from a tiny cell.
  11. You know how to work magic, I have seen miracles happen with those hands! lol. I for the first time in years am fertilizing, and doing it with liquids instead of granular. Interested to see how this works. Also hoping my 1" sprouts didnt die before this rain hit.. Damn weather doesnt know by now that its planting time!
  12. It all depends on how many days you have before your first average frost to get the most out of those bags. Bulbs planted after Mid august at my lease wont do much in the way of bulbs underground unless its perfect growing conditions. Which this year seems to NOT BE good growing conditions. Unless your cool with mostly top growth and maybe some bulbs if timing lines up. As far as packing or rolling seeds, you don't have to, a rain will germinate them. And packing really only helps the seed when there is soil moisture, if the ground is bone dry your seed really gains nothing if its already sitting on the soil surface. slight soil moisture and a roller/packer will push seed in and most times start germination that day. Dry hard soil, is hard to push seed into. unless your pushing it through some "thatch".. On top of all that you dont want to overseed and get too thick of a stand if your first seeds haven't germinated at all. Kind of a hard spot to be in.. Do you have plants growing currently? Or is it still bare? Not knowing if morning dews germinated them but conditions were too dry and they ended up dying.. if you follow what I mean. But yes, you can leave these seeds on soil awaiting rain to do its magic.. But they also become bird food at that point too, so seeding heavier if you anticipate birds picking them is a good idea.. Or just hold out and wait until September for cereal grains and peas etc..
  13. Got about 2.5" of rain at camp 8P the last two days finally. Time to check germination in a day or so and address.
  14. Kinda funny how giddy we get with the forecast and fall food plots lol
  15. And it just doubled again from what was forecasted at 1030. lol. c'mon .7"!! c'mon!! lol
  16. Studies show if a hen cant produce a successful clutch in her first year or two, odds are likely she never will produce a successful nest for the remainder of her life. Mike Chamberlain speaks about this. They need to learn the best habitat and best location to nest and make it work or they just never will in most cases. Which makes a lot of sense why we always see groups of adult hens with zero poults. I have two hens at my camp that have about 8 poults, the young are quite small so I'm guessing it was the 2nd nest attempt of the season and all hatched by one hen, but luckily had a second hen join the group to be mother. I think statistics show(due to lack of quality habitat and high predator populations) only 10-20% of hens will successfully get eggs to hatch.. and after that the next 3 weeks are the hardest of them all.. I also have several groups of hens with zero poults.
  17. Just checked the weather again, and it just tripled in the amount of rain we are supposed to get today. vs what it said at 8am when i checked it. and doubled tomorrows forecast as well.. Please please please. Have more money invested in plots this year than ever before. 8.5 acres this year. when i typically do 1.5-2 acres a year
  18. If your intentions are to fertilize and plant a few days later. it wont harm anything. Just cover the fert lightly. Clovers are looking terrible everyhere, unless they were spring planted with a grain, and the grain was harvested recently.. I just terminated my aflalfa clover plot bc i cant compete with the alfalfa next door.. Did this in hopes to get a good bulb plot established.. now I probably wont have either and really messed it up good lol
  19. A nice green and red cell went less than a mile from most of my plots yesterday. lol. That was a nerve racking hour or so lol

  21. 1. To have a fun filled season with family and friends. 2. Get my wife her first buck. 3. Get my stepson the best of opportunities possible for another wall worthy buck, and teach him at the same time how to scout and pattern these creatures 4. Get out a few more time than last year. 5. Smash some night time coyotes! (that being said) anyone in finger lakes region wanting coyotes shot with some open ground to scan, id gladly try to help you out.
  22. 75# or so per acre, but you want to spread it on dry plants with a rain coming that day or so. OR the air will lessen its effectiveness
  23. I also Just picked up a nice single row 5' disk Thursday night, for 200$, to modify and to use with my tractor as an all in one planter. And the next day my tractor brakes lol
