  1. 5) Flyer.. He was a tougher buck to follow, I put a 52 acre piece of property i hunted for years on the back burner as my son was born and required a lot of extra hands on attention, about 1 mile from my 12 acre camp.. The Amish next door trespassed on it all the time.. And i was busy.. While busy.. A neighbor(relation to a member here) moved in and began hunting my stands. So i just backed out completely.. Let him have it, and never went back in.. At the same time.. The Amish packed up and moved out. turning their 105 acre property into a huge phenomenal sanctuary of overgrown ness.. This buck made it home.. After a few years of chasing him and only getting eyes on him, as he was very present at my camp still too, The new neighbor got him.. I'm guessing him to be 7.5yr or 8.5yr old based off history and pictures of this deer.. And yes I have the history in trail cam pics and sightings to prove all these bucks.. I did lose a few pics from transferring archives over the years.. But its fun to follow these brutes, they really teach you a lot if you follow what they do, and piece the puzzle together..
  2. Wrote about a few of mine last year in a thread.. 1) Chunk.. 10.5 yr old. Disappeared in 2018 ML Season(When the poachers began showing up after dark... ) Very patternable buck.. Was anyways 2) The Ghost.. 9.5 yr old. I Missed him with my bow at 8.5yrs died by gun at 9.5yrs old. Both bucks lived on the same hill at the same time.. 3) Big10.. The buck that started my madness for only Mature bucks.. Patterned him for 3 years straight, Missed him at 7 yards with a ML as a 5.5 yr old. Got wounded and succumbed in a crick at 6.5 yrs old during gun season.. Can see my bullet graze on his belly in the night pic. Hes squaring up to "The Ghost" when he was a 3.5yr old in the daytime pic.. 4) Sixxy.. A Big 6 that grew a ton of character and stickers at 5.5-6.5 yrs old.. Missed him at 35 yards with my bow when he was 5.5yrs old, same deer season I missed "Big10" hundred yards a part on my 12 acres.. Big10 is next to "Sixxy" in the daytime velvet pic.. To be continued..
  3. Triticale would be better than rye.. and as good as oats or wheat.. Perfect timing. Unless he terminated a great field of cover/natives..
  4. I always forget to take pics being in a hurry with everything, but I snapped a couple yesterday. Got the elevated platform started. This plot has growth but not quite what i was expecting after several inches of rain. IT did not get liquid fertilizer yet so it makes sense. The liquid fertilized plots are 4-8" tall already. Sprayed the Fert on it yesterday as well as cleth for grasses at the same time. If growth is not where i want it in 2 weeks, ill add the Wheat. I'm Really hoping this plot takes off to get my wife her best chance at a bow harvest or two.. Its been 8 years since her one and only bow harvest. 2nd harvest ever. The panoramic views are from her ladder stand which is positioned behind and to the left of the platform about 50 yards. From the ladder stand, its a 10 yard shot to the close edge, 45 to the far edge straight across.. The ladder and platform are an easy 100 yard walk in so she can leave when she gets scared or whatever the reason is that day lol.
  5. One thing ive learned is not to let these damn cameras fool you. As bucks age, many steer away from cams, not all but they certainly show caution around them.. Anyone ever throw cams up and the first few pics are a good buck? Coming to figure you out, and that he does. Its also taught me to not get hops up as they tend to make is very anxious and upset at the same time. My cams are slow, but i know they are there. And will be present at the right times and right place depending on what you have to offer on your property at that time of season.. Had the buck ive been waiting for show up last night finally.
  6. a man only needs a whitetail buck and a field his 30-06 can reach that 500 yards! you'd make a killing! lol
  7. Oh man do I have to? I may start my day off with tears lol.. What do you feed your deer? Steroids! gah-lee! You should raffle off hunts!
  8. Living a good life by the sounds! Keep on making those memories. Thanks for sharing.
  9. That is great! thank you for the info, I peaked a little online but i dont always trust sources. You folks here are who Id rather hear it from lol. Im not sure what id do with it. but it just got cleaned up, I suppose i should grab a few boxes for it.
  10. Checked my new plot that I had high hopes for. 3 weeks in and several inches of rainfall since.. and plants are only 2-3" tall but coverage is perfect. I have to get some Cleth sprayed on it for grasses this week since they are coming back strong in spots .. and get the liquid fert on it shortly after... so i can apply urea a couple weeks later.. Really need this plot to take off. Have to get my Elevated platform put up this week as well before season gets too close. Wife will love that. She doesnt even know yet.. Will check other plots this weekend when getting stands ready..
  11. The bog pod death grip works good Certainly not the best but a good overall tripod clamp system. But the more and more you clamp down with the locking knobs they slowly strip/lose grip. They have plastic components inside. I have one and worked great for a year or two.. For ground blinds they are great but take up a little room and are a bit heavy carrying any distance... The primos trigger stick is another great setup. as long as your seated, the trigger stick works really well. Even standing.. I use tripods at night for Coyote hunting, but have over 700$ invested into my tripod. I used the carbon legs off my bog pod death grip and put a ball head on top of it instead for my backup/stepsons tripod. My death grip now mounts to the ball head eliminating the cheap system BOG uses. I can help you there if your ever in trouble with yours if you go that route.
  12. Thats a beauty! Not to derail, but does anyone know anything about the Winchester Model 12? I was told its made around the 1920s? Its a 16ga in good shape. I just inherited one.
  13. Going to check a couple plots I hadn't checked in 2 weeks when there was only tiny sprouts visible. Haven't had a chance to get liquid fertilizer on this one yet as its hidey hole plot and haven't got the quad over there yet. I will compare this one with the plots that did get liquid juice and see the difference, I'm really hoping this plot takes off. Otherwise its getting some annual clovers and some winter wheat/rye in a week or two. Brand new plot.

    Big one

    HEck of an Eye! Dang
  15. This year is a terrible year for experiments. so dont completely throw ideas out. In regards to future plantings. If you have the time, hold off until the 2nd week september and see what they look like. If un satisfied, cereal grains and peas and such will work.
  16. If you cant disk them in you can always press them in with a lawn roller. big seeds like pea and beans press easy and soil moisture will germinate them! they are great easy plot seeds. PLots look good!
  17. You should see 1" sprouts in 3-7 days, when enough moisture/rainfall was present..
  18. September 4th starts the day when a permit is required for semi auto long guns. Id imagine you can still have ammo shipped to your door, but you are traceable with any purchase over the internet. I do know of a couple companies that will ship here but you must call over the phone so there is no "trail".. They've been that way for a long time.. for safety sake.
  19. It was proposed but i have not heard anything of it. If i had a guess, it will go through.
  20. Yep my wife has no real concept to time either. So I could go over rot my camp or lease to get work down, be gone for 4-6 hours and not get hardly anything accomplished.. and she wonders why every single time still lol
  21. I have a great relation with our farmer we lease with. And even before the lease. He always stopped and talked and so did we.. I love working with crops and soils etc.. Im not sure id enjoy being a Dairy farmer but Ag.. i certainly would. PLus there is just something about row crops!
  22. I wish i could do this all year long like farmers. lol. ITs addicting and fun and frustrating. lol. Can we get food plot insurance? lol
