  1. Hence the 110 pound 14 yr old in the picture.. Deer are killed with damn near every caliber out there. its a great caliber for a sharp shooting 14 yr old boy. Place your shot properly or know what your equipment is capable of doing and have zero concern.. knowledge and educating oneself, (like im trying to do here with the fellas who are better than me) makes things possible..
  2. As reloading my intentions are to get the best grouping possible , but for deer I would be extremely happy with "around" 1-2MOA or better. I don't shoot much over 200 yards and if i do my part That's still in a heart or just outside. My main reason for loading is to fine tune my varmint guns to sub MOA grouping. Coyotes ar emy go to hunting season, And their vitals are much smaller. Also, This gun is topped with a Day/Night scope that I can save 7 different reticle/bullet combos So id be more than happy to try several bullets. I put the first 20 shots through it over the weekend. Actually my stepson did. I got it on paper and let him shoot it to his liking. I used cheap 100gr power point winchesters to get it close.. then fine tuned it for 75 vmax for now.. and these other bullets will be saved on the other reticles. I've heard nothing but good stuff about barnes, nosler and sierra bullets. followed by hornady. I just want this bullet to punch and go through what ever it needs to do.. A deer wont take a double lung hit very well, but if im spending the money and time.. i want a solid strong bullet thats going to deliver what i need it too.. I've taken several deer with ELDM and amaxand they don't go far and they don't explode either. These are ballistic tipped bullets. Shot them with Vmax bullets and the damage is ridiculous .. lol yes I know vmax are meant to explode after entrance.. Just looking for some solid tips and advice from the guys here, and you've come through. Thank you guys! I greatly appreciate the help.. hope you don't mind chiming in in the future as im a rookie to the bullet game and i'm already hooked..
  3. I shoot 52smk out of my 22-250 with great results, tiny hole in, no exits. I will be buying 2 or 3 different boxes to try. This will also be out of an AR as well Im a fan of Sierra and Nosler, and heave heard the most and best reviews for deer coming from Nosler and Barnes, Many here are far mor eknowledgable on bullets than me.. as i have not loaded a round yet but have basically everything to get started to now.. besides bullets.
  4. How does the bullet hold up against the shoulder of a whitetail? This bullet was what I had remembered you saying before, just couldn't remember the exact one..
  5. wow thats insane.. Weve seen them munched on some but nothing even close to this.. and we have a steady coyote population as well
  6. I would like to get setup with this at some point.. even if it was just a light weight mobile setup with a small lightweight stand.
  7. I was given a box of 90gr nosler ballistic hunting tip in 6mm.. was going to try those as well..
  8. Thanks all, HEard good things about the nosler partition and accubounds as well. what grain weight would you think? heavy as possible? Yes, he is who I heard it from. I couldn't remember who it was.. Ill hae to send him a message. I did buy soe reloading gear from him recently.. thank you sir
  9. I will be loading for .243 shortly, and wondering what the best bullet is for DRT on deer and can take an accidental shoulder shot if possible.. Someone before told me a barnes bullet? Thanks in advance
  10. Been waiting to see a budget blind like the surround view! I may have to look into this! awesome

  12. 5'7, dont mind being large, just when its too long it sucks with snow lol. Im def interested.. Just seems big i wear a 33x30 jean and L upstairs.. but very tempted
  13. I always tell myself to shoot a doe or 2 early on, as I wait for MR Right.. If the local doe herd are doing what you want them to do, dont shoot the biggest doe from the group.. thats many times the leader of the pack, guiding the others in effort to survive. Which is a good thing, bc they may very easily lose pattern if you take the matriarch doe from the heard. Then the woods become harder to hunt.. But it really all depends what your goal for the season is.. and whether or not the meat is really that important to you or not.. My idea is to take a deer and have little impact on the herd as possible. I would unless a target buck is showing patterns, take most of your doe quota early as possible. Shooting a doe after being bred also takes 2-4 deer for next year depending on your population needs.. and if your into managing the herd at all.. Also, a dead doe on opener of gun season can bring bucks in and around you as she lays there deceased.. some things to consider.. but it all depends on your goal for the season or future seasons
  14. Congrats to you and your boy! These are the moments we live for!

  19. It was just a guess sir. Have yet to see blight on brassica plants anywhere around me.. Don't think i have really even heard of it in Brassicas or tuber plantings. Learned today..
  20. That was my conclusion as well. For both mine and landtrace plots..
  21. Or a nutrient issue? MY frost damaged plot has re emerged with the warm temps, and with a 1.3" of rain yesterday, hope some warmer days can make it become half decent before cold weather sets in.
