Kill first before you till, or till, wait then kill sprouting weeds and grasses. then plant. If you are planting In august, I would add a bulb, Radish or Turnip. Or wait until Early september and do Oats and clovers. Your biggest issue is controlling weeds. and getting new seed to germ and grow asap.. You can also just skip the tiller, Grab your seed, spread it, roll your vegetation over the top of the seed 2 or 3x, then spray gly on it.. a day or two before a rain.. Oats and Clover germ pretty easy, But clover sprouts very slow as it builds roots first..

There was a few 30/40 at Double L in Arkport last week.

That is typical. It usually takes cold weather and or snow to get deer to eat the bulbs. but unless you have better foods available in your area, they will be there to eat them. I like a blend of seeds, it keeps deer in the plot more days than not as each seed has a preferred time frame.. radish, Purple Top, Rutabaga as well as winfred brassica. Regardless your are adding tremendous amounts of Organic matter to your soil for the next year.

So you think there's no chance that this is a early born fawn, with good genetics, good nutrition and living in a very healthy habitat? Or what about a late born fawn buck that was just malnourished coming out if winter and straight into a drought all summer? But the thought that he should be shot at a young age, being completely unaware of his genetic potential due to his 1.5" spikes, I don't agree.. I've been told by a biologist a Button can most certainly grow an inch or so spike if born early enough and genetically inclined as well as living in prime habitat.. You're probably way smarter than me at this but as far as managing bucks, I don't think bucks should be shot at 1.5yrs old regardless.. There's plenty others around obviously that are breeding your does.. Just what I gather.. Maybe i'm wrong?

6 deer in our freezer, I didnt have to pull the trigger once, And Only had to get bloody and messy on the first one.. I got two youths some experience and trigger use, as well as trigger discipline! A complete success in my book.

You would just plant them sooner or later to change size. To get them slightly smaller, Plant them a week to 2 weeks later. In the heart of the winter they will probably eat them regardless of size, but for a late season pull, I like to keep them a little smaller in size like apples etc.. easier to pull or dig up.. And sometimes they will only eat them to the dirt level when the ground freezes as they cant pull them from frozen soil most times.

Those are green globe Turnips.. I dont have as good a luck with them VS Purple Top Turnips, Radish or Rutabaga.. Pull a few out and leave them on top of the soil for them to figure out.. Sometimes it takes a couple years befor ethey tear them up. Also, I like to keep bulbs no bigger than softball size if i can help it. The bigger they are, the less palatable they are.. and if there is better tasting plots around, they'll go to them first

Save your smaller plots for perennial blend like clover/chicory /alfalfa mix and the other for a fall winter blend. I think you will have better results. Do your big plot with a corn soybean blend. Corn is great but it doesnt do much as far as nutrition fr whitetail, besides getting energy and fats back in late season. Soybeans will fuel a whitetail soul from the minute they sprout until they rot the following spring.. Protein power lol Corn is very expensive to plant and get to produce.. Only down fall of the blend is they both have to be RR or planted separately. Im a big fan of offering more than 1 food er location. If planted with soybeans, you can get an early maturity bean, plant it Memorial Day weekend and you can double crop it with Bulbs and fall blends in August through September.

Kentli Lithium rechargeables or an Anker battery pack. Battery pack is much cheaper and a 10k anker will last several nights. Then a few hour recharge.. I run a 15kAnker and lithium rechargeables on both my wraiths. The wicked 403ic is on one of my wraiths as well, The other has a coyote cannon. -
Browning Strikeforce and Tactacam Reveal - not bad
LET EM GROW replied to moog5050's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Good stuff, Is it the strike force wireless? Or a regular cam? I have both and are by far my favorite cams. Hands down. I use the wireless model for Security purposes and it has pretty good detail. -

planting soybeans with tiller
LET EM GROW replied to wmg's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
that will work. I would just spray/terminate your crop with GLY, wait a week or 2 till your soil, spread seeds and anything to pack your soil in will work. Or if you have rain coming, just let mother nature take care of the rest for you. Soybeans are very easy to grow. Then when plants are 6-10" tall.. spray gly one more time if weeds and grasses are coming back .. I plant soybeans, by spraying the existing vegetation with GLY, spreading seedat 1.5x the normal rate, then rolling that dead/dying vegetation over top of the seed and it lays over top and dies creating weed barrier, and also protects the soil from the suns hot rays. then the germinated seeds grow up through the dead stuff... Great germination as long as a good rain is coming after planting. -
Standard Transmissions...How many can operate one ??
LET EM GROW replied to Pygmy's topic in General Chit Chat
I prefer standard transmission for my long daily commute. ITs better on fuel than an automatic and in the winter you cant beat it! 5spd 2.2 ecotec are bullet proof high fuel mileage combo. I had to teach myself when i was 18, my boss told me I had to take the f450 to the job site by myself. Talk about pucker pop! It was an 1986 with a Bored 460 Race motor with headers, talk about an animal! And loud! lol It had a dump box full of top soil, towing a tri axle trailer and a 44hp Diesel Ford tractor. I never did stall it but it sure was interesting! I love driving standard, and so does my wife. But my next vehicle may be an automatic as my 34yr old wife has RA and doesnt enjoy shifting anymore.. Everytime i get in her Tahoe im looking for the clutch and the shifter as i approach stop signs lol !! -
Congrats man! A buck you wanted from the start

It works, its best to do so quietly slowly and let your wind bump the deer out. before they see you. Using a 2nd man as a sitter in an area you beleive the deer will head to after being bumped.. That way they arent running 100mph near your sitters Idk if id try this solo, You can if your quiet and slow enough i bet, and once done, youd have to make sure your wind is correct to where the deer may have gone. But its really no different than just still hunting with wind in your favor to check on a local bedding area.. IMO

If youre going with an AR you can build a nice 223, 224, or 22nosler all on the ar15 platform. I see 224 valk ammo more available than any of the other 2 calibers listed. If you are going to go bolt gun. get a 22.250 if your not in the calber restricted units.. If you are get a 204. Then get your self a sightmark wraith hd for an optic the 2x model has a wider field of view compared to the 4x.. Academy just had them for 329$ last week. Then get your self a better bigger external IR light. Any brand will work well. Wicked, Night snipe, sniper hog lights etc.. Next youll also want to get a good bipod or tripod setup. A good durable adjustable tripod can be used for sitting, as well standing position .. And this will soon begin your addiction to chasing coyotes and youll want thermal and everything else upgraded that you can think of lol.. -
Selling wild game meat is un heard of.. that better not pass. That is flat out disgusting on many levels! Absolutely wrong. We cant trust people for anything these days, now your going to allow them to sell "road killed or harvested game" disgusting! The dawn til dusk rule is wonderful, it will change nothing on how shots are taken, besides making the early shooters, who (mostly all) can clearly make out there target and what's behind them, legal vs being illegally taking game. Not a big deal. Shots wont get fired any earlier than they already do.. Xbow.. no comment.. ITs not the weapon that bothers me as much.. TIs how its treated, its the people you don't want in the woods are now in the woods all season doing there un sportsman, unethical garbage the entire season now and not just half of the season like before.... In 3 seasons i've seen mor ewounded to Xbow than vertical archery.. Doe tags and their issuance need to be re addressed.. Our properties are loaded with doe and you can barely get ahold of a tag, going on many years now unless you own the land. The mature bucks used to be present all over, now they seem fewer and farther between

yep, most all ours are broken up. but they're usually busted up good every year

Like the Blood sport arrows. They are to see blood and penetration depth usually if your arrow snaps. I was thinking of doing the same at some point. Also helps with color checking blood and such on marginal hits. I believe

Mid Morning to early afternoon is prime time for Rut sits. All day sits if you can. My son shot his mature buck at 1015am on Halloween morning. Ive told many before, dont leave the woods middle of the day during the rut.. put cams up if you need the proof.

My guess is upon or a micro second before impact the angle of bolt into the cavity changed quick, resulting in a hard track and no happy ending.

Can you get a search dog on him?

So I could not find the ttsx, I picked up some 85 grTSX and 90 gr Nosler Tipped. both shooting moa or less.. What would you choose for deer between the 2? I fine tuned for the TSX as i thought itd be a more solid bullet, and less explosive compared to the 90gr Nosler ballistic tip. Even though both could be shot with the same reticle with no issue to 200yrds or so.. .
