  1. Im an ammo hoarder as well, I did stock up some and I dont shoot recreationally caus eI cant bare the fact of "wasting" ammo.. I am now beginning reloading to fend for myself and fine tune the weapons.. That being said, Ive given out a handful of rounds out to a few people in need. but I will not sell it or give a full box away.. ITs not my fault people didnt prepare properly.. Unless they were in a real hard spot.. Id gladly help out more.. But in terms of ammo and the state this country and its citizens are in.. my weapons and ammo is mine, and stays with me lol
  2. Im no white collar firm guy, so sorry if this donest help.. but everything in life has a reason.. Theres a reason saying they want her.. IT may not be a good reason, there may be a reason the spot is open and theyre begging her to come there.. seems sketchy to me.. She should go with her gut.. If they need her that badly as Moog said.. they should compensate no problem. IMO. Best of luck to her. Sounds like a bright future.
  3. I really like my HHA I do want to switch to a .010" pin though. I like them tiny.
  4. Young girl shoot a beautiful bear and we critique its size, or mention she is doing trick hero shots.. what a joke. You think she planned it? She probably cant even hold the damn things head, or leg up to pose a picture.. Sorry, but it makes a great photo just as it is...
  5. always daytime movement during the rut.. especially midday. My cell cams should midday studs this weekend
  6. I wouls suggest a soil test since your first method failed. Though it can be a number of different things. Rule of thumb is the Cereal Rye will grow anywhere.. and ive seen it grow in many wierd places as long as it receives sunlight and ample moisture. I would also add a clover or 2 to your mix. Does this spot get sunlight? and a good amount of direct sun? Without good sun, you wont ge tmuch growth from anything..
  7. Possibly, but if you have weeds growing id like to think its not to compacted. logging rds unless really wide.. are hard to get brassicas to grow. Did you make sure your seed was fresh? as in the test date? Also, you need good steady rain to get seeds to germinate so timing plantings are crucial. As birds will pick seeds as well. Its also best to terminate your weeds spread your seeds into and lay your dead weeds over top of your seeds. You can try the harrow drag and see what happens. It sometimes does take a decent disking to start a good no till process.
  8. Our plots are full of shale as well. ITs a PITA.. if your set on breaking ground you should use a harrow drag, but the only down fall is it will bring up a ton of rock. A disk would be your second best option. A tiller would take a serious beating, I know mine did. The problem with shale is(if your not going to pick rock after your scratch the soil) you wont be able to pack or roll your soil/seeds for good contact. Your rock will be in your way and also be covering up a ton of surface area where your seeds could be growing. If this makes sense.. I highly recommend trying the poor mans/no till methods or a no till drill, when you have rock problems. IF you have the funds to double crop, and utilize summer, fall and winter blends in your plots, you wont ever have to worry about rocks again. I do the poor mans no till plantings with ease and great results, providing it snot dry planting conditions. Done it with all seeds besides field corn. No till methods with good seed blends will treat you very well sir. 4 or 5 seeds that aid in herd health as well as work your soil for you, aid in soil health and help you with your next planting, all at the same time..
  9. Dang, a long ways from me. Id let ya use one for the season if we were closer
  10. I have 2 API Grand slam climbers. where are you?
  11. 10/31/20 A.M. Action packed morning for both of us.. Ill try to keep it short.. My stepson Cole's first Mature buck... at 14 yrs old!! He came home from his dads the night before to hunt with me after showing him some recent cell cam pics, I was so happy when he did this... I have a little slice of heaven i try to leave alone until The halloween time frame.. I put him there. Great spot between several bedding areas. I told him good luck, text me when your in and ready, and you should find it no problem at all.. Shoot straight and be safe. Lets bring one home today.. we fist bumped and off he went.. He informed me he will not shoot a buck he wont shoulder mount, it has to be a good one he says.. Even though on this property I told him he could shoot whatever he wanted to.. he insisted it has got to be a wall mounter or no go! lol. Alright bud im cool with it if you are.. I said keep your eyes peeled bc they will be on top of you there when you first see them.. he had several deer and a shooter on him shortly after first light but no shots.. passed a couple small bucks waiting on mr big.. he text me at 915 saying he hadn't seen anything in awhile and his feet were getting cold.. I Told him we can get down if you'd like but if you can hold out, that stand usually gets hot again around 10am .. or we can leave no big deal to me, were here for his hunting pleasure i'm just watching and guiding from a long distance lol.. he wanted to warm his feet.. I told him ill head to the car and come get you now.. as i started walking out of my stand a giant 8 and young buck appeared with a doe and fed in the corn in front of me for awhile.. I text him if your feet get cold go for a short walk if you need or hold out until 10, there's a slammer right in front of me taking his time... Long story short i moved on him and got 40 yards and couldn't seal the deal. so darn close but he went the other direction and i left the grunt call home.. there was another shooter further down the field too! All while this is going on, I get a text from Cole, I just missed a doe... twice! lol. First shot caught a branch and deflected the arrow and broke... the second shot went under her... Then moments i get the "just shot a buck" text.. and i start shaking! lol. heck yes heck yes!! he told me, as he hung his bow up, turned his head to look the other way around the tree, and there is this good buck and he's walking through his 20 yard lane, he had to act fast as there was one more small hole to shoot through or not shots will be taken.. in one motion he grabs the bow turns and comes to full draw, stops the buck in the small opening and lets it fly. The arrows connects just behind the front shoulder and the buck takes off... so we text back and forth I told him to stay put ill be right down with the car.. and we will go in and check it out. I meet with him at the road, we discuss things, go grab a coffee and a snack then come back. About 20 yards from the hit site we find the arrow, blood soaked about 12in deep and broken the broadhead plus 2 inches of arrow. We followed a scuffed up trail a running deer had made in a straight line from the direction of the hit site... no blood for a while but its the direction he went supposedly.. 100 yrds in we find a drop of blood.. awesome awesome awesome, this most certainly has to be the buck.. Finally after tracking a small drop of blood every 10 - 15 yrds or so, the 200 yard mark was when the blood trail gets heavier steadier, and splatter everywhere. as we go over another nole, I pick the binoculars up and see him up on the creek bank 75 yards ahead.. he's laying dead right there... He double lunged him with a rage, 2 big slashed holes in both lungs, and the cape stopped it upon exiting.. that deer had an extreme will to live.. Hes shooting 58# 27in draw. We almost got messed up on our tracking efforts as we began starting the track, another shooter buck came pass us all injured bleeding from the mouth hacking coughing, struggling to walk.. so we immediately thought it was him.. we stopped the direction we were going and began to tracked him slightly to check the blood, and couldn't find any sign.. But this buck was seriously wounded. So we decided that it was best we got back on to our initial trail and stayed after the evidence we found which instead, led us to the end of the right crime scene.. So someone got an arrow in a good one and we have a wounded breeder running around .. I couldn't be more proud of this Kid! Our hunting trips together just keep getting better and better every time... from Deer to turkey and coyotes.. its always a blast and action packed with him!
  12. added water will draw deer hands down, unless they have a closer watering spot to where they bed.. but water holes will always draw wildlife ... just got to put a log in it so small critters cna get out when they fall in.. or they die in and contaminate the water..
  13. Beauty! For a second I thought that was the same one we've been chasing for a few years lol
  14. I love the ram with the hemi 5.7, absolutely love it. The power, the ride everything... except... the exhaust manifolds.. the newer models most wont even get 100k out of a set of manifolds. And that right there has kept me from going back. I also wont own a ford f150 unless its the 5.0 and a lariat or fx4, used to love them but they are just ugly now.. Ive owned a Tahoe for a few years now and its been good for the most part.. but not sure id buy another one of them either.. unless brand spankin new.. Im looking to jump into a new truck shortly since I just sold mine.. but I have no clue what direction im going. Im really considering going great condition older model or even pre 96.. As it will only be a weekend/hunting vehicle basically. Are you towing with it or anything? Id never purchase the ecoboost if it were me.. lol Im not one for Toyota or Nissan.. but my moms side love their Toyota trucks.. never an issue it seems and tons of power.. Kind of weird but they tow their race corvettes to the tracks with the Tundras lol...
  15. Yes, same time every year. ?The weather conditions may determine how much of the rut you get to see.. but always same few weeks of every year.
  16. NICE MR Moog!! I woke up to an 8yr old drop tine as well! Is getting good!
  17. I would like to guess its some sort of sensor, or an electronic issue.. But im no mechanic.
  18. soon as you cut them out... grab cast iron with butter salt and pepper.. simple and delicious !
  19. IT looks like the side cover at the base of the tree helps as well. If the plot is big and open enough I like to incorporate structure in mine as well. Though most of mine require as much sunlight as possible due to all being under an acre and on hillsides mostly. Good stuff. Regardless of when, having bucks bed on your property is always good.
  20. Definitely walk it first.. with some sweat equity you can make it good wildlife property. Do yo have a goal or dream if you ever owned land? and do you see that happening on this piece of land? Plent of room for 62 acres.. I own 12 acres with a camp and a big gamble barn and a seasonal rd that goes through the middle of the property and dead ends at the end of our property. We see and have harvested good deer from it. We've also spent time to make it more desired to all wildlife.. It is a little harde rto hunt big huge wood lots but check it out, and check the topo maps and all .. build a dream/goal and fulll send
  21. Hope the symptoms stay mild and you have a blessed 2 weeks freetime!
  22. Good luck sir! I bet its better than Moogs property for the slight history you have and how you gained access.. that is just awesome. Keep up with the pictures!
  23. never heard it put that way. Makes sense. and i agree the prior comment is untrue
  24. The guys I see having the most issues with 243 bullets are shooting those cheap winchester power points. They put double lung hits on them and the deer still go 40-100 yards. My buddy smashed a stud at 150 yards and connected with the shoulder .. deer dropped.. he left to go get drag help came back buck was gone(he learned) .. He switched to the sst last year and the deer began dropping right where they were hit. With a gun Im not concerned with 2 holes so much as just the gun delivering energy into that animal and piling it up asap. I feel a 2 hole bullet from a lighter weight caliber would be act more like a fmj and not creating the damage wed like to see.. Like last years, my 6.5cm with a 95vmax exploded inside the buck.. damaging everything and he still ran 50 yards or better..
  25. My buddies shoot them with a 22.250 every season.. and they typically drop on the spot.. out to 300 yrds. Ive been looking for the ttsx and its sold out everywere..
