  1. You too Bubba... long time no see... good to have you back
  2. I'll be there this weekend at camp.. and probably every weekend until the end.
  3. This was sent to me today... "Hello, My Name is Tom Schultz Jr. I was excited to be with 15yr old Colton Brewslawki and Mentor him 10/12/2013 on his first youth deer hunt as he took a incredible 9 point buck that scored 131 1/8 “ on my In-laws Farm in Wayne County, NY i...n the town of Walworth. Could not think of a better young man to harvest such a great buck. I was honored that his Mom, Jen and Dad, Mark allowed me to give Colt this Experience of a lifetime everyone was high fives and smiles that day and I’m looking forward to the day I can share the same experience with my two sons." More youth hunt deer here... http://www.nyantler-outdoors.com/2013-youth-hunt.html
  4. I like antlers outside the ears and they have to have some mass.... spindly 8-point won't do it for me.. but an 18" 6-point with good mass? I'm all over that
  5. Most bucks that size only make it a few hours before the word gets out and travels half way around the world...lol
  6. Doc is right about the buy and hold method... although you can make money as the property appreciates... it is better to buy property that has some kind of immediate value... such as, timber that can be sold, leasable hunting land... buying big properties for a good price and selling off lots... think outside the box... profit up front creates more money for more investment. and quicker cash flow.
  7. I have a breakdown of recordbook bucks taken for the last few years in all counties of NY... I will be posting a .pdf fill on the NYSBBC website soon... but I can tell you that Livingston was one of the top in the state for big buck entries for the last few years.
  8. There are no references to this buck anywhere but forums... nobody I know that scores on Long Island has seen it.. I'm skeptical about where, when and how it was really killed.. I first heard it was an Ohio buck as well... I usually know within days of any big monsters taken in NY... still nothing on this buck but rumors.
  9. Unfortunately this buck cannot enter the record books having been killed with a spotlight... not considered fair chase... still a monster of a buck though
  10. I don't.... I need one more toy like I need a hole in my head..lol ...
  11. I'd recommend a light weight bow... I shoot 60 lbs Martin so use to it that I'm reluctant to change yet... but I purchased an old 45# Bear that I think I'll be moving to shortly... you don't really need all that weight for 20 yards and in... 45-50 is plenty with the right splined arrow.
  12. More pics of the progress... the knotty pine is up
  13. I have found that wearing a ghillie suit works best.. become the brush..lol.. seriously though a good leafy outfit will help out if you have limited cover... and even though you think you're down wind, sometimes the woods you're in actually creates a swirling wind that you can't detect.. blowing your scent all over the woods and alerting the deer... you can only do what you do and the deer do what they do in hopes that the advantage leans your way somehow...
  14. I don't believe you can suck at hunting if you're out there enjoying yourself... think how lucky you are to have time to be in the woods enjoying something you like to do... you may not be as successful as you'd like to be, but that will come in time... just continue to enjoy just being out there.
  15. I hunt huge private land or deep in the Adirondacks so honestly nothing drives me crazy... I'm having so much fun and everything just sounds and feels like hunting season!
  16. Very well could be... I've seen them on trunks that big... usually big cedars though...
  17. Ah yes... the old " Every deer's a trophy" line... that always gets the point across and proves a guy is the best deer hunter...lol
  18. This is the world we live in Andreas... people jumping to conclusions before knowing anything.. good luck with your endeavor. Be sure to give references before posting a kill... especially if it has a good rack... lol
  19. who cares what he scores..lol.. that one is a keeper!
  20. I have been using a call since the early 80's when they first became popular... I never go in the woods without one... I have called in more bucks than I can count ... All my bow kills were bucks that I called in... I even called in a buck for a friend... it was his first bow kill... they don't always work.. in fact many times deer completely ignore them... but lots of times it has made the difference between seeing a deer and not seeing one... it definitely should be part of every hunters' arsenal. My favorite story is a buck I killed in Maine... another hunter saw him walk into a dark, dank, swampy area riddled with blown down and dead trees in the early morning... I decided I'd go after him... I waited until about 11am to go in to give him time to settle in and bed down... my plan was to creep slowly through the swamp.. stopping to make a call every so often... it took some time to get to the huge swamp which was a long way down the side of a steep hillside...20 minutes into my walk I stopped and mad a low grunt... the nice 8-point stood up from his bed about 70 yards away... one shot and it was over... I was so far in it took me 5 hours to get the buck out by myself just after dark... I had to carry the buck out... the ground was to much of a mess and made it impossible to drag him... I don't think I could have taken the buck without a call.
  21. I saw it on the news yesterday.. not that it makes it legit... but everything looks correct... and I've witnessed worse.
  22. I worked as a mail carrier many years ago... you wouldn't believe some of the stuff that goes on there... talk about wasting money... no wonder they can't operate in the black... lots of very good workers, but many more that are just like the woman in the video...
