but it's ok at camp.. I chose the knarliest, knottiest pieces of slab wood I could find from a lumber mill waste pile and trimmed the windows of my camp with them... I wanted rustic and I got rustic.!!

2008 Toyota Tacoma full extended cab long bed... the truck is an absolute champ of a 4 wheel drive and tows my 12 foot trailer loaded as if it wasn't even there.

My wife realizes it's part of who I am... gotta love her for that!

Pretty much what US conservatives have been saying about him from the get go... one of the comments under the video says it best... "Sadly, it doesn’t seem to bother most Americans that we have a President and his wife who act like royalty and continually embarrass this Country. But, we have become a Country “intimidated” with anyone who speaks the truth, and instead are called racists. These mental dwarfs called “liberals” are an embarrassment as well. People like Martin Bashhir, Chris Matthews, and even more sickening Piers Morgan and John Daly…make us look and sound like fools. Incredible our Country has become a bunch of brainless bottom feeders."

Potential Ammo Drain
nyantler replied to Doc's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I had heard about DHS ammunition buys, now this confirms it. I wonder how a government agency can purchase anything without disclosure... puzzling. -
Really? You don't think that's a record brookie? I wouldn't bet a paycheck that it isn't 6 lbs.
-
The DEC announced the weight as official
-
Good question.. can't honestly say I know the answer to that one... but I'll find out. One of my buddies held the record a few years back until in was broken a few weeks later.. I'll ask him.
-
Yeah, but we don't need you liberals deciding what is stupid and what isn't. You don't seem to have a problem with Obamacare and it's stupidity or the cost of it... which the public will have to bare.. get my point? Freedom means not being told what to do by people who think they can legislate and tax their way to some fairytale euphoria... as a hunter you complain that the DEC infringes on your rights by mandating rules and regulations ... but your okay with taxing people for exercising their freedom.. you liberals make little sense... ergo.. who are you to decide what is stupid and what isn't?

Rick Beauchamp, of Mayfield, NY catches the new state record brook trout by catching a six-pound, 22.5-inch brookie in Silver Lake on May 16, 2013. Beauchamp reeled in the record brookie while fishing Silver Lake in Hamilton County in the ...Adirondack's Silver Lake Wilderness. Beaucamp caught the huge trout on a lake clear wabbler and worm, weighed in at slightly more than 6 pounds, surpassing the previous state record set in 2012 by two ounces.

Yup.. taxation is always the answer. lets tax people that use chainsaws too... or anything that could be dangerous... nothing like getting the government involve completely in our lives to make sure we do exactly what they think we ought to be doing. Better yet we should educate liberals on freedom and why men fought and died for it...

Not to mention anything with preservatives in it, food grown with pesticides, and a variety of other toxic materials which just don't get the hype of tobacco products... We all know people that lived into their 90's that smoked their whole life.. yet, as intelligent people we don't assume that there is a correlation between smoking and longevity of life. Even with a huge growth in anti smoking ads and all that has been done in the last 40 years to reduce smoking (which it has)... lung disease still remains at the top of the list of killers. I will argue that a can of Spaghetti-O's is worse for you than a cigarette... and the government telling you what you should or should not be doing is worse than either of those things.
-
So we all know smoking isn't good for you... but neither are preservatives in your food, daily inhalation of automobile exhaust, even breathing in the bug spray you put on before turkey hunting... everything can be linked to something negative... the attack on smokers and tobacco companies is nothing more than another activist agenda of trying to control everything that happens in the world.. yeah I know it costs us billions of dollars in medical bills and increases insurance rates... so did electing the last President. What's new?? If you need me I'll be on the porch smoking a good cigar... and enjoying every bit of the stress free moment.

very nice!

What is going on with todays turkey hunters?
nyantler replied to noodle one's topic in Turkey Hunting
I use a single shot 10 gauge... so I'm not one of the hunters you'll be hearing shooting multiple times. Gettin' them close is much more fun than chasing around a wounded bird that you pushed the distance envelope on. That ol' 10 gauge will reach out to 50 no problem, but just seems a bit far to be shooting at a turkey for me. -
obama gives no respect

I hunted this buck for 3 days on the snow in Perryville, NY... each day tracking him to an empty bed in the same pine wood finger as he swung downwind of me before bedding. On the 4th day, I had only a short time to hunt before dark and decided to come in from the opposite side of the pine woods trying to catch the buck by surprise... I reached the empty bed at a bit before 4pm... I was upset for a second before noticing four other empty beds close by...the buck was with does.. so, with only about 1/2 hour of shooting time left, I decided to get on the tracks and try to run the buck down... off I went on a dead run out the end of the pine woods finger up a small hill to a ridge that ran along a cornfield... I thought to myself that I would keep running on the track as long as it stayed in the woods and didn't cut across the corn which led across the road to posted land. If he stayed in the woods it would lead him to a small ravine and I might catch him on the other side climbing the hill... sure enough the tracks stayed in the woods and I followed running to the edge of the ravine. I looked across the ravine about 125 yards away and there he was standing on the slope of the opposite hill. I pulled up my Rem 870 took aim and fired.. nothing! He just stood there looking away from me... I took a deep breath to relax myself from the five or so minute run.. took aim again and fired... and down the hill he tumbled... at the bottom he got up and started running.. I fired twice more, but he kept running.. with one slug left I took a deep breath, took aim... then suddenly he dropped.. no need for the last slug... later I found that I hit the buck with all three slugs having missed the first time. Rather be lucky than good any day.

Who was your hero when it comes to hunting
nyantler replied to DeerStalker22's topic in General Hunting
I know many excellent hunters... but my father was my hunting hero... not an excellent hunter but got me started and was always enthusiastic about hunting with me... he made it so enjoyable that I quickly fell in love... It was never about the deer and always about doing it together. -
you must be having a bad day..lol
-
That it is... and no kissing up to sponsors.. that helps... I just wonder where they always get the seven dwarf characters for these shows.
-
Not much of a HUNTING show.. mildly entertaining though... same old goofy characters... Dopey, Sleepy, Grumpy.. etc. They don't waste much time on building up to the kill.. see 'em ... kill 'em... that was nice.

From what I understand they have permission from all the neighborhood so retrieval shouldn't be a problem... the conflict in the show I think deals more with the difficulty hunting in a suburban area with all that goes on there during the day. I hope it turns out better than the show "Diggers" that sounded like it was going to be a good metal detecting show... turned out to be two guys acting like complete goofballs and finding a bunch of crap... then making up there own pet words for the type of stuff they found that sounded stupid to those of us who are serious diggers.
