  1. Looked like he was just going to stand there soaking them up at first. That's a big ol' critter right there!
  2. Then next year he'll outlaw crossbows with a pistol grip and you won't be able to carry more than two bolts in the field. I mean, who needs a whole quiver full of bolts to kill a deer anyway?
  3. I have a 4 y/o and I've been waffling on the same thing. Last spring after the unSafe Act passed I decided instead of giving the $350 to NY I'd give it to the NRA for a Life membership for him instead. Since then we have been giving serious thought to relocating somewhere out of NY, so I'm hesitant to drop a bunch of money on a license he'll probably never use.
  4. That's not an X-bow it's a Y-bow!
  5. Last week when it was 10 below here I talked to my brother in Fairbanks and he said it was 21 above!
  6. I will normally take them down the last time I sit in them for the year, then I don't have to worry about it. A couple years I went out around this time and the straps were all iced up and I had a heck of a time.
  7. There we go, that's better! Still a nice bear but the picture looks 100% nicer.
  8. Wow, dude, that's harsh!
  9. I could pick out at least five different sets of tracks coming in from three different directions right to this spot. Looked like yesterday probably? I'll have to try and get over there tomorrow and snap a picture of it.
  10. I encountered something today in the woods that I've never seen before. I went to the spot where I got the drop tine buck during muzzleloader to see if anything had cleaned up the gut pile and when I got to the spot where he died I found it all tramped up with deer tracks and the whole spot had been pissed on. I estimate the area to be about 4' x 6'. The whole spot was yellowed up and a mass of deer tracks. Anyone ever see anything like that? It's almost like they were marking up the area where he dropped?
  11. I think the worst I've ever run into is evey time a grouse blows out right undr my feet
  12. I know it; geeze. Been thinking I wanted to move anyway.
  13. Could've been worse. You could've woken up and found that you had adopted a gay lifestyle!
  14. My Dad covered 3/5ths of the taxidermy bill on my drop tine muzzleloader buck.
  15. Wow, guess I need to start watching the news more often. I hadn't even heard that you guys got an ice storm until now! Amazing it's even possible, I am right along the Thruway and it was in the 60's here! Good luck, hope you can stay warm.
  16. Why is it so many people look like grumps when getting their picture taken with game? I ever got a bear that nice in that pretty a color I'd be ear to ear.
  17. Watched? Didn't know you they had a version you could WATCH? I listen to it on the radio at night. 91.9 on "Tuned to Yesterday". Love old time radio programs. Not real big on Gunsmoke but I like Have Gun Will Travel. How about Throckmorten P. Gildersleeve? Oh yeah, neat buck; it is amazing how tough they are.
  18. Heve seen it done with a boat winch bolted to the wall too.
  19. Man, you are touchy on the whole Dove thing aren't you? Myself, I probably wouldn't be eating any feral hog either so sorry 'bout that. Your bolded statement is exactly what I was getting at. While there may be a "sizeable" number of people interested in hunting doves they obviously aren't in the majority and/or they don't make enough noise or they would be classified as a game animal and there would be a season.
  20. I think people who are likely to shoot does will still go whether they have a buck tag or not. People who won't bother going because all they have are doe tags probably wouldn't be shooting does regardless.
