Cuomos tax free ......
covert replied to growalot's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
This is a prime example of how disingenous they are. By even entertaining the thought of creating "tax-free zones" they admit that lower taxes in those areas will lure businesses thereby helping the economy and unemployment. If that's the case then it stands to reason that by lowering taxes across the state instead of in these little pockets, businesses will begin to flourish everywhere, helping everyone, not just little pockets where it might help political prospects. -
Went to the gun show at the Utica Aud today. Saw one guy had bricks of CCI .22 LR and the sign said "$125 in our shop, show special $99". The only other bricks I saw had $88 on them and one table had the same .22s for $10/box 50. Didn't see too many people buying though. Centerfire ammo was a little high but not crazy high like the rimfire.

I use Mr_Saw on a couple other places. After I grabbed the wrong end of a running Farm boss my dad had a bunch of Mr Saw shirts made up for me.

Easton 2118s here. I tried Grizzly Stik Sitkas and Easton Flatlines and didn't feel they were as durable as everyone makes them out to be so I went back to alyoominnieum. The Grizzly Stiks flew like a dart and the Flatlines were speedy but I just didn't like them. Plus when I knicked one of the Flatlines and spent two days digging carbon splinters out of my hand after pulling it from the target I decided I liked aluminum more.

I could give you a couple little pieces, just drive out and get them... but then I guess it'd become a $28 Euro.

I bet you a bit of heat shrink tubing would probably work too.

Takes me 3 1/2 hours every four days on a Jacobsen diesel with 6' deck just to almost stay ahead off the damn grass. When I had the 44" zero turn it took at least 8 hours. I HATE mowing the stupid lawn and I wouldn't know what crabgrass was if it pinched me. This year I'm thinking about plowing up about 2 acres of the front and putting in a corn maze. I definitely didn't think about mowing lawn when I put the house 300' off the road in a field. The absolute LAST thing I want to do is RAISE my property value, if I knew it would work I'd dump a half dozen old appliances out there to get my taxes down!

Does the fact that he's a cop have any bearing on the rest of the story at all? If it was anyone else would the headline say "Local shoe shine boy shot by turkey hunter" for example?

Sorry, can't help you. I shoot arrows that are about as big around as a broom handle.

Are you having trouble seeing through the red haze over your eyes? Midway sent several mass emails out towards the beginning explaining what was going on and what they were trying to do about it. They started with not accepting any more backorders until they had the existing ones caught up, then they imposed limits on purchases. Go on their website; most of the types of items you are squawking about have purchase limits on them. Right there under "Date expected in stock" it says "Quantity limit of 10" http://www.midwayusa.com/product/528001/federal-american-eagle-ammunition-223-remington-62-grain-full-metal-jacket-box-of-20 What are they supposed to do? Make you turn in your empty boxes for exchange before you can buy more? Make you sign a pledge when you order ammo that you promise not to ever have more than 100 rounds on hand for every caliber?

Ever watch The Wild Bunch? "They? Who the hell is They? Here you are with your thumb up your azz, a handful of holes and a BIG GRIN to pass the time of day with." No one can "guarantee" the supply of anything. They can only sell it as fast as they get it and with the miracle of the Interwebs customers can buy (and are) 24 hours a day as fast as it comes available. It isn't "They" it's "Us". "We" suck up every bit of inventory as quickly as it can be produced. This happened in 1994 and again in 2008-2009. Then when it finally did calm down some of "Us" socked away a few extra boxes up when it was cheap and plentiful and now can sit back and watch the rest go beserk.
-
Just curious how they are "failing their customers"? They put quantity limits per customer on most of their stuff awhile ago so that no one could grab a whole bunch and shut out everyone else. You're mad at Midway because what, they don't call you and give you first dibs when they get a truck in?

Only with a crossbow.

Double Durrrrrrr.

Do they all post it on the Interwebs when they do? Durr.

suggested parts for an AR 15
covert replied to jesse.james's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I know. I still don't feel confident saying one way or another if a fixed tube mag on a levergun that holds 10 or more is legal. One way you read it sounds like "Obviously it's legal because it's neither detachable or semi-auto" but then you read it again and it sounds like it isn't because in the description of high-capacity magazine it doesn't specify anything about being detachable or what it's being used in. -
Another thumbs up for Lillies Agway in Holland Patent. They deal PSE along with a few others. I took my 26 year old Darton in there and asked Ian to look it over and see if it was still serviceable. He inspected it and quoted me what it needed and also what would be nice to do and let me make up my mind without being pushy. When he did the work he did it in a reasonable time frame and didn't act like I was a nuisance. He treated me just like I had bought a $900 bow instead of a string, quiver and some arrows. He seemed very knowledgeable and didn't try to push me into a new bow. When I asked what he had for bows in the range I thought I could spend, he gave me advice on a few without trying the old "For only $xxx more you could get such and such". After the treatment I got there, when I do get ready someday to buy a new bow it will DEFINITELY be from Ian Brucker at Lillies Agway and Archery. http://www.bowguru.com/

Nope but when I saw the topic I was hoping that you did!

I always wanted one in 7-30 Waters. No particular reason, just sounded cool.
