Since I have been back to hunting with guns, and this world wide frenzy that guns are bad, I have the opportunity to get people who aren't fully against guns, but don't see a need for them aside from hunting to open their eyes. I have explained how to handle a pistol or long gun to people who were on the border, but never even held one. I am going to give an example. Since buying my M&P and my g/f learning they aren't the big bad guns politically stupid and flat out stupid people think they are. She loves it, enjoys shooting it, and has no issue with me buying another in a larger caliber. As long as it is in the budget. Yesterday, we had our house warming. One of our friends who was totally against any "assault weapon" asked to see the rifle. So, I took it out, removed the empty mag, racked it back, and handed it to her. She admitted it didn't look or feel scary in person. Then, I took the mag and bolt out of my .25-06 and l let her hold that as well. Her exact words. "I like the first one better.". My bro, who had a huge issue with the M&P was also around for the first time since I bought it. He's no anti, but said the M&P was overkill. I sent him pics of bullets and stats from different caliber AR style rifles, and he apologized. Yesterday, I did the same, took out the mag, racked it back and let him hold it. Now, he wants to shoot it. It only takes knowledge, and a willingness to be polite and show people in person that things aren't what they seem from media and politicians. Since May, I have converted three anti "assault weapon" people into realizing they aren't assault weapons, just rifles that look different. If more people would be proactive about physically showing and informing people about things maybe we would have more new hunters, less anti's, and not have politicians making up BS laws! I am not just talking AR platform, I am talking all guns. Know someone who might be against them or on the fence ( we all do ). Take some time and explain and teach them. An hour of your time might result in less stupidity in lame gun control laws.

Nice buck! Would look better as a mount the a trail cam pick. Hope you get a shot at him this season.

Um, no. Tree stands were designed ( even back when they were just boards nailed to a tree and a few 2x4 nestled in the crotch of a tree ) to get better sight line of incoming game, and get your scent up and hopefully away from deer. The use of them has nothing to do with private or public land.

Even white men are running away
DirtTime replied to Uptown Redneck's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
There has been a race issue brewing for a long time. Our POTUS wanted a race war, put nitro on a fire, and now we have it. The Clinton's, Cuomo, and all of the politicians who buy into the lies didn't understand, or worse, don't care about the collateral damage their stupidity have and will cause. It's easy to make stupid laws and be a sadistic tyrant when you have security protecting you for the rest of your life. Think about it, who would really want to make a war on LEO's? Well, that would be anyone breaking the law. Average people and politicians alike. To many people had blinders on ( to many still do ), now we are paying for it. -

You have your point Uptown. Now, what's you stance on these topics? https://huntingny.com/forums/topic/34198-scout-style-or-standard-rifle-for-still-hunting/?page=1 https://huntingny.com/forums/topic/34239-what-gun-do-you-carry-and-why/ Just curious. Would love to get feedback from an expert such as you. -
Can't compare to Pygmy. BBQ chicken legs, left over salads and so on.

It was worth a shot.

Many people would do the same for if you left. I bet we would even chip in for the cost of the moving truck including mileage. Maybe even air fair to another country, maybe one of the ones you prefer and defend over your own? NY has great hunting and fishing lands. Yes, it's politically a mess of corruption and lies. The political issues that revolve around hunting and guns are a joke. Too many people agree with the corruptness because they are corrupt and selfish as well. You cannot cure stupid. It's a "mental illness" and those who have can't own guns so they don't want the rest of the population to have them either.

Looks like Biz and crew. He did say he likes to aim at a pretty face while doing that.... Seriously, that is screwed up. Brazin' little punks to stop and do that knowing they were on a cam shot while trespassing. Best of luck getting them and keeping off your land.

"Common Sense" gun laws debunked
DirtTime replied to Rattler's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Just shows how factually clueless many people are when it comes to guns and hunting. -
Nice flock and good looking bucks.

The hunt was legal, so I see nothing wrong with using the spear. It was done that way for many years, and some countries still do it as a main way to hunt. Takes guts to be that close to dangerous game. My problem is waiting until the next day to track and locate. That's not so good IMO.

You can get flamed for drinking those lime beers in here. LOL I know it's early, but having a cold leftover from last night. Cut the grass, ran the weed whacker, sanded the porch railings, made a pasta salad, a potato salad, baked beans are in the oven, and eggs are cooling to make deviled eggs. It's 4 O'clock somewhere.

I never really learned anything about hunting from a TV show. Now, watching Bill Dance and Hank Parker sure did teach me a thing or two about fishing.

Pretty good interview going on right now about the "War On Cops". Obama cut funding for LEO's to get body armor and other protective gear? What a POS! Hillary backs this and also endorses it? I can't abbreviate what she is, but there is a see and Tuesday in it. I am all for keeping guns from the mentally ill, but right now, I think we need to focus on the severely mentally ill politicians we have in the USA and keep them out of office! Is it too late to impeach Osama, err oops, I mean Obama?

Very sorry for your loss and my condolences to you and your family.

Wow! Good question. I have always used what I felt suited me best for what and where I hunt. Well, now days anyway. When I was young I would buy a new gun just to have it in the cabinet. Many I never even fired before selling them. I really like a 20ga for deer over a 12ga. I don't know why, I just do. Seeing all the areas I hunt now rifles are allowed I have my 12ga for small game and turkey. When I bought my deer rifle about a year ago I went 7mm-08. Solid caliber and suits my needs. I have hunted with the .270 and .30-06, but as I am getting older I am not liking the heavy recoil. So, the 7mm-08 was a good choice and fit for me. I bought a .25-06 last Spring I have yet to shoot. But, I think my go-to will still be the 7mm-08. It's a good solid round for deer.

I have public land near me. Some gets hit hard. I do have permission to hunt a couple hundred acres in the NZ. I was told I couldn't hunt do to logging this season ( yes, I know, again, been friends with the family or a long time so def would not argue with them ), but was told the other day that logging will be done mid October so I should be able to hunt there this season.
-
Like you said, I am not going to argue with anyone. It would send the wrong message, and in the country, most people know and are friendly with their neighbors, and word travels fast. Not going to be that guy. Even if someone was rude I would still be polite.

2 is better. Don't forget your tent. Sofa is taken.
