Agreed.

Looks like a super wide 4 to me as well.

One thing I have done to help get a lot better at estimating range is while I am hiking/scouting I pick something like a tree, rock, or a bush make an estimate, and then pace it off with big steps like stoneam2006 mentioned. If I was in a stand, I would have a range finder because the angle will add to the distance. I also agree 100% with philoshop as far as not getting to caught up into being overly precise. Usually, when you over think something, something goes wrong.

That's all anyone can do.

Had many great movies. Blazing Saddles. Stir Crazy, and Silver Streak are my favorites. RIP

Whats the cost and does it have to be de-boned and skinned?
-
I have always been of the ilk that we some great hunting and fishing in NYS.
-
I don't have a range finder, but I almost always have my spots picked out while scouting before the season. I will pick a few trees and pace them off to get close, sometimes I will use tape, but that's usually more to keep track of wind changes.
-
Looks like an ATV trail. Couple nice bucks in the pics Gencountyzeek. Hope they stop by during the season for you.

the 10pt is a shooter for sure.

It just seemed like such a silly law that some state might do it. Look at some of the stupid laws we have here for deer LOL
-
I would guess around the same, 3.5 to 4.5.
-
They were around $2.99 for 50 when I started hunting. You have yourself 1,000 rounds of good ammo right there.
-
I think is a 'nut busting' thread. But, I had to look it up out of curiosity of such a silly law being passed. http://www.wvdnr.gov/hunting/hunting_regs.shtm http://www.wvdnr.gov/hunting/Regs1617/Season_dates.pdf

I'm not either but, I say 3.5 because of the chest and shoulders.
-
Try looking in a mirror and saying that, because you do that same thing every time you post.

Bow is going to greg54 as soon as my new bow gets here, need the box to ship. Which should be Friday. Hope he gets a deer with it.
-
But, imagine when they fly over and let one go. It might sink the boat or kill you if in the wrong place. Just sayin'.

hunting without a truck how do you transport your deer
DirtTime replied to Chef's topic in Deer Hunting
We acted like cave men and just had a feast of raw meat. J/K..........Maybe I have an SUV with no hydraulics for the rear door or window. I have a mid grade tarp that's bigger then the back area. Make a tub forming around all sides, get the deer in, fold the outer part of the tarp over the deer and take it to processor. If you have a car, do the same, get a tarp that would make your trunk a tub to avoid spillage. -

We will all be there at 9pm sharp. No breaking out the cheap stuff now that we have seen the pic.

Breakfast, pulled pork, bacon, and eggs on toast with a side of hash browns. Instant caffeine free coffee in my favorite cup. Dinner, beef ribs low and slow on the grill. Leftover slaw and pulled pork.

Cycling the bow out. Offering it to someone who can use it and get in the woods. Ordered a new bow today. Nothing great, but will do the job and fit me much better.
-
I just ordered the new bow. Diamond Prism. Should be here by Friday, so after our camping trip this weekend I will get it to the shop and get range time in. Also hopefully get into the local club and be able to shoot a few nights a week.

Nobody close interested?
