I prefer my porn to have a lot less dialog. The g/f watched it for a while, read the books and stopped watching the show. Said it was way to far off to be interesting anymore.

So what about the hunts people do in other countries? Pretty sure people who go rhino hunting aren't eating the meat. Most of the companies who offer this type of hunt say it's "trophy hunting", not 'exotic'. It's difficult to reform a word people associate with exotic hunting in other countries, or that is used by most guides in the USA to describe the hunt. I knew a few people who went to other states to hunt whitetail bucks and got ticked off when they were told they had to pass a nice buck because they paid for basic service and that buck was a trophy.

LOL dbHunterNY. Oh, we had our share of 'sparring' for years about the dreaded "black guns". I wore her down enough to where she said "If you can pay cash for it, then get it.". So, the ATV went up for sale. LOL She's done some shooting before we met, mainly a few hand guns. But, I would guess as she doesn't remember, maybe 10 rounds. After I explained how the safety, charging handle, and mag button worked she was good to go. I did the initial sight in at 25 yds, then I put a few down range at 50 and made a couple tweaks. Put up two fresh targets, one for her and one for me and we just took turns. She kept her target as a souvenir. Might take a pic and post it later. Total cost for gas, ammo, and lunch was only around $25.

Thanks grampy. It was a fun morning. Finally got to kill something this turkey season, paper. LOL. The problem I encountered with a basic scope was the charging handle. To get a full view part of the scope is behind the charger making it hard to rack. I may have to drop some coin on an actual AR scope. Even the g/f shot the "scary looking" gun. She liked it and did pretty well in her own right. She shot 20 rounds and had 9 in the black and two in the red.

Nice looking pistol. I can't help with ammo, but I say put a scope on her for deer hunting.
-
Not bad for dealing with the 'spur' grip. I think I could get much tighter with a reticle scope. Still fun to shoot.

Any one really willing to go to war with our Gov't or start a revolution isn't going to advertise. They keep the head down and the mouth shut, and aren't "spreading the word" on social media. They aren't looking to become a 'martyr', just do what's right by the USA. I really don't understand why so many people don't get this. You have watched both versions of "Red Dawn" to many times. It will not be that easy to be a 'hero' of the world. Your family will be at risk, you won't have any money because you will not be able to go to work, or buy food as you will be on a list of traitors. Most likely shot on sight. I have no issue with standing up for your rights, but if you are doing it just for your 5 minutes of fame you are a ******* ***-****! All you proves was you got killed ( and maybe got many other people killed, including kids ) or you landed in jail. I really wish people would think things through and not just act on irrational actions.

This Is Worth A Watch
DirtTime replied to DirtTime's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The reason I posted it was when she stated some facts that I am sure not many were even aware of. Especially this one: "On the same day as the Sandy Hook shooting, in central China, a man stabbed 22 children and one adult." I keep saying, guns do not kill people! Stupid people with guns kill people! This vid was from 2013, and if more people used their brains like this young lady we might have less anti'gun BS! -
It's bushy tails. Watched them do it this morning. Little buggers.

Nothing special, just a cold can of Bud while I was grilling. The hand of Liberty says it all!

I wanted to see if I could get a nice char on a steak with propane like I can over coals. I was pretty shocked I actually did it. Only been cooking on propane grills for about 5 years. Before that it was always charcoal or over campfire coals. Nice little char on top and a perfect center! Brussels sprouts and a mayo based mac salad with bacon.

I am not sure if this was ever posted here before, if so I apologize. While some may get all bent that this is political, I don't see it that way. But I still put in this area to make sure it didn't get twisted. This young lady knowns more about the difference between an "Assault Weapons" then Andy, Hillary, and all the people blocking "Black Rifles" will ever know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_-N9_tnWBo

Absolutely no offense taken. We don't have chipmunks where I live. They are scared of this city. LOL I am really starting to lean towards the ratty gray squirrels that are all over the place around here.

Is anyone playing "Bernopoly" ?

The only Sanders with a hope in this is the one who makes "Extra Crispy". -
Depressions... I am not going to finger the ground so ............................. I am not fingering the ground. Geez.

LOL turkeyfeathers. It might be. But, when we had the skunk issue they would set off the motion light in the back yard, that's how we knew what they were.
-
I thought moles last Summer, but haven't seen a single one. I want to go with squirrel, or maybe the new abundance of grackles we have had the past couple years. Just odd, at least to me.
-
We had an issue a few years ago with skunks digging up our lawn in spots for grubs, they always made gouges not little holes. This one has me stumped. I have about 50 of these little digging holes in small area. Is it birds, or the wretched squirrels that live in cities?

(Dutchess County) New Turkey Hunter- Advice Needed
DirtTime replied to tonyc26's topic in Turkey Hunting
Not many will give up a spot, much less a spot the last weekend if they are still hunting. Been a tough year for a lot of turkey hunters. Scouting ahead of time is the best way to go, but you don't have that option, so you have to scout as you go. Researching isn't that tough here in NY. Google Map the area's you want to hunt. I am guessing that you will be staying in a hotel or camping. Be nice about it and ask the locals. They might offer some information. Figure out what kind of call works best for you, and practice with that as much as possible. Have a crow call or some form of shock/locater call. Make sure you have at least run a couple rounds through your shotgun to pattern it and know where you shot is the most dense. -
I got them from Price Chopper. First time ever buying them from a store. They were goooooooood! Used to be a favorite for us as teens ( friends and I ). Shoot them with our air rifles, cut the legs off and cook them with a stick over a fire like a hot dog. I was shocked when the g/f tried one. To many they taste like chicken. Not to me. They have that sort of fresh water flavor you get from pan fish.

So... Your buddy Andy is pro hunting, and anti gun....Not sure how that works. The "Cuomo Act" was the dumbest law ever passed. Even people in other states think he's donkeys backside for putting it into place. All it did was make many people irate due to his ignorance on knowing the difference between a "sporting rifle" and what he and his minions think an assault rifle is. Will the Cuomo Act stop criminals from having these guns? No! Moving on.... If you want to jump on Doc or other members for having an opinion that differs from yours, maybe try using BabySoft. I hear it helps with chafing. Mike, you do the same damn thing with your anti-lead and all about dove hunting. Now, if we can get back on topic.... How do we reformat the way people look at trophy hunters?
-
I was going to ask what my dinner was............... To see of people knew..... Frog legs. Pasta salad with crab meat and shrimp on the grill.
-
You can't plant food plots on state land. Not being a jerk, but most people know that. My point was, there are many hunters on this site that hunt state land and have to endure the laws of that public land. There are also hunters who own land and can plant plots, and have trail cans going 24/7. You can't keep leaving the state land hunters out. They are a big part of the hunters here in NY. Sorry if you misinterpreted what I was saying growalot.
-
I agree 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not everyone can plant food plots and not everyone uses trail cams. Why is everything pigeon holed into this category? Some of us still use the ever faithful ( whether we kill a deer or not ) method of boots to ground, and deal with it if we don't tag out. Many hunters are dealing with hunting state land. Some people forget that.
-
So.......... How do we make people see how hunting older bucks can be a good thing, as well as letting those who shoot does or spikes still be a viable way to hunt? How do we restructure the way people look at a trophy hunter?
