  1. Crank up some 'Blue Sky' and 'Liz Reed' and have a nice cold beverage of your choosing! We all need "me" time, every now and then. I think tomorrow night, Mrs grampy and I are going grocery shopping after work. Then at 8, we have a dinner reservation at Canalie's in Rotterdam. I got her a nice card and will have some flowers delivered. She is my best friend. Not a day goes by that we don't laugh. I'd be lost without her. I make every day count. As some day it will only be one of us.
  2. When I do partake, I like a sippin whiskey like Crown Royal. Straight up in a rock glass, no ice.
  3. That's why I went to an AR from a bolt action! A quicker follow up shot.
  4. Back when I was 17 and in the Army, we weren't sure if we'd be sent to Nam or not, as things were winding down at that time. But one night after way too many beers, we all got a small tat of our first name on our forearms to help identify us if we got KIA. I know, sounds really dumb, and it was. I've regretted it ever since! But I've recently been thinking about getting a Native American bow, with feathers and crossed arrows, to cover up the one I got way back in the day. One reason is to have a symbol of my partial Native bloodline. And the other reason is for my lifelong love of the bow. I've come close to walking into a shop to see if they could do such a thing. But never followed through. But.....a new tattoo shop is opening in a plaza not far from where I work. Soooo....perhaps I'll stop in one of these days?? Or at this point at almost 63 why bother???
  5. Great thread Chef! I'll be following along. And look forward to the next installment!
  6. Last year I went from a single pin HHA slider, to a fixed 3 pin, set at 20 - 30 - and 40 yards. And I like it! So we did the complete opposite and it worked out for us both!!
  7. Just curious how it works out to 100 yards or so?? As I would be shooting out to that distance, but not much farther. And would it work at night with a light set up?
  8. Hey Thanks!!! Was up there a couple weeks ago. Next time up, I'll stop in and say hi!!
  9. Very Nice!!!! Did it come with a scope?
  10. With all the deer in 4J and the Pine Bush, I have no idea why a crossbow can not be used in there??? Even during the two week crossbow season we have now? Just makes no sense at all. But neither does the current crossbow legislation, that states you need a muzzleloader tag to hunt with a crossbow. The whole thing is just dumb.
  11. All Scorpyd crossbows are awesome! Can't wait to see which one ya got in that box!! I too am looking forward to full inclusion. It's time for it to happen, in my opinion. Perhaps when it comes. I'll upgrade to a Scorpyd crossbow too! That said, I'm a longtime bowhunter, and will prefer to hunt with my bow, as long as my shoulders hold out.
  12. My barber uses one to trim up too. I do have my grandfathers, and my father in laws single edge straight razors though. One of my earliest memories is peeking in the door while my grandfather was shaving, and him asking me if I wanted a shave too! The roughest one I ever got was the old double edge razor I used in the army. Have always shaved with a blade though. Never owned an electric razor.
  13. A shout out and a thank you to Moog too! For sending me a scope mount that may work better on this gun, (his suggestion) by getting the scope closer to the rail. Hopefully I'll be able to get to the range, over the upcoming long weekend. Covered up in snow again now. Thanks Brian! For everything my friend.
  14. Thanks Brian! I'll get looking this week.
  15. Where would I find the adapters Dan? moog is sending me a different mount, that may work better than the mount I have, for my new gun. But it is 30mm. My scope is one inch.
  16. Hey Rob, can you at least rub some fish on that new carpet? To get that good fish stank, that all good fishing boats have? Never too early! Just saying...... Best of luck with that beautiful new rig sir.
  17. Sounds good my friend. Look forward to seeing ya!
  18. I like the looks of that rig! Very nice! Is it a 223? And being able to drop the mag, no doubt is more handy in most situations. After handling a bunch of different ARs lately, I found the pistol grip the most comfortable by far. So I went with the fixed mag. But the one you have here looks like it would be pretty comfortable too? Anyways.....very cool rig!
  19. All good here in the capital region.
  20. Don't have one in the Albany area. Definitely sounds like a place I could drop a little $$ on some quality stuff. Will have to check it out on my next trip to Rochester.
  21. A shout out, and a thank you, to Nomad for sending me two Bear Flag Defense speed loaders!!! They look much better than the MEAN Arms one I purchased with the rifle. Can't wait to get out on the range to give em a try! The generosity displayed by members of this forum, is beyond compare. Thanks Larry.
  22. With each Hunter Education class we do, there are about 25% to 30% women, that take the course to get their hunting license. Of these, I think perhaps only half will actually go out and hunt. The other half may only represent an extra tag, for their husbands or boyfriends. Kinda easy to tell the ones there, that actually want to hunt. From the ones that obviously just want to get through the day, to please their significant other. That said, my opinion is that women hunters can be just as good as their male counterparts. Sometimes better! And I love seeing them out there! Especially the youngsters. They are every bit as much a part of hunting's future as the boys.
