Wow!............the things some people put in their mouth!
-
Just getting out there is half the fun! Having one come to your calls is a thrill, and getting one, is just icing on the cake! Each time out, you will learn a little more. Have fun and good luck buddy. Some really good predator hunters on here. I've learned some tips from them too.

Thats it! Do whatever makes YOU happy. You will look at that mount more than anyone else.

What's the coolest thing you found in the woods?
grampy replied to helmut in the bush's topic in General Chit Chat
They were mine!!! Hope you didn't move them! I think I've logged more hours on a milk crate than anyone I know! -
Welcome young man. Are you near the Alplaus Creek? If so there are a bunch of public land spots to hunt, only a short drive from where you are. Since you are a minor, if you can get a parent or guardian to tag along, I will show you a couple spots.

The ONLY thing my Mom ever made that I HATED, was liver and onions. To this day, the thought of a plateful turns my stomach.

Few years ago, for my birthday, my wife and grandsons gave me a pretty expensive rod and reel combo for bass fishing. Before any fishing trip, I always rig up at least 6 to 8 rods, to be ready for wherever I'm going, then put them in the rod lockers on my boat. Shortly after, I was fishing the Mohawk, below Lock 10, opened the rod locker to get that rig and it's not there! Opened the other locker, nadda. To this day, I have no idea how or where I lost it. The only thing that makes sense, is I must have left it on the deck of the boat, and it flew off on my way to the river. My boat is not that big, so I know I would have seen it? And all the other rods were where they were supposed to be?

OK Dan, I'll start searching out a place around the Albany area. Like you said, lots of members not too far away, or a relatively short drive. Once I nail that down, I'll set a date and post it. Whoever can, or wants to make it will be there!
-
Yeah, except for the crossbow. But that is another story all together.
-
Nothing set yet. Hopefully you can make it! Again, I'll start a new thread soon.

Exactly the same for my grandson, the last two years! He shoots really well at targets. But has not put it all together yet on a live deer. Even when within his effective range. Those shakes and jitters at the moment of truth are hard for some 12 or 13 year olds to overcome with a bow. This year, he'll be 14. So hoping for one each with the bow and rifle. If this law was passed two years ago, can't help but think he would have already put that first one behind him. We all know, that first one is the hardest to kill! And also the most special.

I would definitely be in for a car pool. To drive, or ride. About four hours to Rochester area from Albany. Or if we get enough going from this area, a convoy! Still thinking of putting something together on this side of the state too, for a members meet and greet. Was considering late April, before turkey hunting. But I'm open to suggestions for a time and places. Or even if there is an interest in doing it? I will start a new thread soon to guage interest and go ftom there.

That would be awesome! Saw the pic's of a couple real giants from there! Saw a couple nice ones in the flesh at Mendon too!

Perhaps I could represent the capital region! Was out there on an invite from moog last October. Got to meet a few real good guys from WNY. Be cool to see em again, and meet a few more! Heck, maybe even growalot would make the trip?

Installed new trigger spring on my Savage Axis
grampy replied to grampy's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Here it is Bob. Couldn't make the link to the other thread on my phone at the drs. office. -
My Axis doesn't have the Accu Trigger, but the trigger pull was aground 7.5 lbs when I got it. So I just ordered a new trigger spring from Amazon, and brought it down to 3.2lbs. Think I posted a thread on here about it a couple years ago. Was a simple easy fix.

My hunting partner bought the Axis in 243 and pink trim, for his daughter. She loves it! I have an Axis in 7mm-08, and it is a very accurate rifle! I say go with the Savage. For the money, they are very good.

My wife and I get one each year. My Doctor told me this year, the shot is only 10% effective. Also told me, as of right now, they are developing the shot for NEXT flu season. And they are never sure what strain will be making the rounds next year, so they just give it their best educated guess, and hope they hit it right. Most times they do a good job, this year they were off. We also get the pneumonia shot every three years, as we have both had that a few times as well. Outside of a sore arm for a day or two, we have never had any ill effects from these shots. I hope your daughter will be fine. And as my Doc said, "even though it's only 10% effective, you may be one of the lucky ones". But the best advice will always come from her Doctor, of course.

Great video! Congratulations to you and your bride! Looks like you have a lifetime fishing partner. Nice!

Awesome! Can't imagine the patience and time involved with something like that. Looks so cool.
