  1. Still better than being at work!
  2. Very respectable, awesome job! Father and son making memories, it doesn't get any better! Congrat's to the both of you!
  3. Even with bad shoulders, I still shoot 15 to 20 arrows, minimum every week, year round. It's use it or lose it at this point for me. Using my old MQ-32, I can still consistently put five arrows in a six inch circle, out to 30 yards. That is my maximum hunting distance. But I can no longer hold full draw longer than a few seconds. After a few clean misses and a deer shot and not recovered, I learned a long time ago. That I'm never as good I think I am. So I strive to be as good as I can be.
  4. Pretty neat pic's indeed! Thanks for sharing!
  5. Well said. Perhaps the best common sense statement made on this thread!
  6. "As long as we stay within the law" I don't think those choices are. And again, I respect "your choice" to hunt with whatever you like, however you like. As long as it's legal, it's all good!
  7. Hope your special day is filled with nothing but the good stuff! Family, friends and good food! And perhaps a fine beverage of your choice!
  8. You can and you did! No problem at all. I respect your opinion even if I disagree.
  9. Very nice pictures! Thanks for sharing.
  10. We all pay the same for the tags to hunt. As long as we stay within the law. The choice of what we hunt with should be our own. I don't really care what another hunter decides to hunt with. And I don't want someone telling me what I can or cannot use. Besides selfishness, I see no other reason to not have full inclusion for crossbow.
  11. And you decide to use a crossbow. Will you still use a traditional, and or compound bow also, to hunt deer? If full inclusion happens this year. I will do all I can to kill one more deer with my compound, first. Nothing can compare to the satisfaction, for me, to killing a deer with my bow. But due to my increasingly bad shoulders, I will not be able to draw and hold my compound much longer. I know I'll always miss hunting with my compound but with the crossbow, at least I can still participate, and enjoy the early season hunt. What will you guy's be doing?
  12. What I meant was, "in range and capability" of the bolt or arrow. Not in ease of use. It's getting very hard for me to draw and hold my compound bow. But I can shoot my crossbow easily. But the "performance of the projectile" is similar. Settle down there big guy. I'm with ya on the crossbow issue.
  13. Happy Birthday!! Nothing but the best for you today!!
  14. I agree with this. The crossbow, in range and capability, is very similar to a modern compound bow. It's not a miracle weapon.. A crossbow will get a few more hunters out in the woods, that would not have been otherwise. But the overall deer take numbers will increase very little.
  15. Welcome! Glad you decided to stop by. Sounds like you have a lot of outdoor experience to share. Just pull up a seat and join right in any time! Lots of us older hunters here too.
  16. Your way or no way. I get it now. The heck with everyone else, if they don't think exactly like you.
  17. They were just that analogy's. Ridiculous or not. My point is that things change, weather we want them to or not. Is it always for the good, maybe not always. But like someone in this thread pointed out, should we go back to clubbing them to death, as that's how it was done "in the old days"? Of course not. The hunting seasons and the implements used in them, have been, and continue to evolve for the last one hundred years. And we will continue to nic-pic at each other over the slightest changes. I'm as conservative and traditional as they come. But I'm not naive enough to force my views on others, because that's the way I do it. So it's adapt to the changes in hunting seasons and implements or quit hunting. I'm not ready to do that yet! I've killed deer with everything from a recurve to high powered rifle. And I can assure you, the "trophies" I've gotten, were hard earned! If it's legal I will hunt with it, in any season that it is legal do do so! And continue to adapt and kill deer. I'll let all the complainers do what they do best, while I just go hunting!
  18. So, was our way of life stolen when the automobile replaced the horse and buggy? Or when airplanes made it possible to cross the oceans in a matter of hours? Or when medical advances cured polio? Would it have been better if we had just stayed where we were? Of course not. Things change and advance. We either change with the times or get left behind.
  19. If he had just held his original position, the dummy would have never gotten a scratch. But noooo, let's get closer! Bad move.
  20. Nice come back from 16 down in the second half! Go Orange!
