I'm new to fly fishing too. Last year for a birthday present, my wife bought me a 5wt.Orvis combo. Been wanting to learn for a long time, but just like Zem, I don't know anyone who fly fishes. I have practiced many hours in the back yard and a couple of unsuccessful trips to local water. So I too will benifit from the posts above. A book that came with my combo has been a huge help getting started, so it's worth picking up. It can't possibly replace having an experienced fly fishermen show you the ropes. But it has a bunch of good stuff for beginners.

It's one of the best times of the year to get started on the next deer season. You can still see last years rubs and scrapes. No heat and skeeters while moving stands or building blinds near the newly dicovered hot spots. The woods look the same now as they will this November, for clearing shooting lanes. One thing is certain, this time of year. There is never a shortage of things to do!

Pretty girl! And smart too. Hope she feels better soon.

Good to see that the common sense approach is finally being applied to the crossbow. By needing bow certification to use one, as needing muzzleloader certification made no sense at all. Killing by broadhead is completely different than killing with a bullet. I'm very happy to see this bill introduced! But would like to see ALL areas that have bow hunting be included as well. Absolutely will be notifying my representatives, asking for their support.

Great idea and very cool! Mmmm, got me thinking now.

Instructions...... I call em Destructions. Sometimes you may as well try to read the other language. Like the "use bolt A in side D counter rotate one and a half turns to side C" see image in picture #3. Read that again hon?????

I grew up with a lake within a short bike ride. Got hunting property by a lake. Tow the bass boat to many different lakes. Kissed my wife for the very first time by a lake. Some of my ashes will be scattered in a lake. Guess you could say, lakes have been and always will be, a part of who I am.

He'll be hunting right beside you this year. With that smile on his face that you know so well. My condolences to you and his family.

What a handsome lad! He's even got the outdoorsman game face on!

I have seen some really cool old guns on that show. I have heard ol' Chum likes the wine, women and song out there in Vegas. Full automatic weapons are legal in Nevada, so not sure why he is charged with that.

Why not, stop screwing around and leave the darn clocks alone! Daylight saving time has no real benefit anymore. Just messes up everyones inner clock twice a year.

I use a dry spray lubricant, dries to a white powder that is scent free. Started using it when I bought my crossbow a couple years ago. Before that, I always used Tri-Flow. It can be found in almost any hardware store. It's not scent free but it's one of the best lubricants you can buy, and works great for firearms as well.

As a natural ground blind hunter, I can assure you that none of my 20 or so blinds are that nice! Got plans for 3 or 4 new ones this spring, and I may use some of her idea's. Thanks for posting!

I was 12 and started working at the farm down the road. Feeding the cows and shoveling crap after school and on Saturday, paid $25 a week. During summer bailing and putting in hay, paid $75 a week. Good money back in 69. Lessons learned on that farm, are still carried with me today.
