Really nice pic's! Thanks for sharing!

Awesome set of pic's! If that doesn't get the blood pumping to start the season, not much will!

Shooting off the bench with the lead sled is one thing for me. I can get 1 inch groups from my cheap savage too. But like you, shooting freehand is another whole ballgame, and a six inch group is pretty darned good! I have never been what I consider a great shot. Lots of guy's can and do outshoot me at the range. But I very rarely miss a deer.

Welcome Zach! So glad you decided to join us. ( I didn't know he did, until after he signed himself up.) There are some really great people and hunters here. They are always willing to help with any hunting and outdoors questions. I have learned a lot from them myself! Just pull up a seat and join in anytime! You are the best hunting buddy a grampy could ever ask for. I too, Iook forward to this hunting season with you and all the hunting seasons we will have together. I love the time we spend together. Your enthusiasm and always being there, keeps me young. I'm so proud of you and love you very much. Thanks for the nice comments. You guy's are awesome!

Go Panthers! All our teams are undefeated right now except the Steelers. So expectation is high. Good luck to everyone's team today! Let's get ready for some football!

This is the second weekend at the new house. Settling in nicely. But still have a bunch of pictures and stuff to hang . Then I need to get down stairs to set up my music studio and after that my hunting gear needs to be organized. Started yard work early this morning and finised at about 4pm. Hoping to get up the property behind the other house tomorrow, to brush in a couple ground blinds. Then head over to the farm I hunt to do the same there and maybe hang a cam with my grandson. Also hoping to fling a few arrows sometime tomorrow. Need to figure a way to make the weekend as long as Mon. and Tue.!

Sure is a good looking young buck in the last pic! Plots look amazing! Nice work!

Happy to hear it's all working out for you. Good luck with the new set up.

I feel the youth season would still be a great opportunity for these young hunters to gain valuable experience. With the needed supervision.

My 11 year old grandson has been going out with me since he was 6. He learns quickly and has a passion for hunting and the outdoors. His skills, although he still has much to learn, are very advanced for his age. He is now a better woodsman at 11 than some adults I've seen stumbling and bumbling in the woods. He knows how to safely handle a firearm and is a good shot with bow as well. Perhaps some kids his age are not ready to hunt. But he could have started last year if legal. And I know some others his age that are ready to hunt, and chomping at the bit to do so as well. It's all about good supervision and and letting them learn as much as they want, at an early age. Why hold them back?

May God bless all the Hero's and Patriots of that fateful day. May we never forget.

Wow! And that's the small one? Nice buck!

I'm all for it. Teach them young and let them carry the torch for the future.

Nice pic's of a variety critters!

Here's to 30 more hunting seasons for you! Good thoughts sent your way for tomorrow. A positive attitude works wonders too. I know how you feel. I'm a melonoma surviver going on four and a half years.

All the old guy's who took my buddy and I under their wing, to show us the hunting do's and don'ts have all passed on. The last one, Ol Ray, passed last April. Now we are the "old guy's ". And to the best of my abilities, I will pass on to the young hunters in our area and families the patience and kindness that was given to me by some good old guys.

This is my first year hunting with a rifle. And this summer I have had a great time shooting all different brands of factory ammo through my Savage Axis in 7mm/08. Some of the best ones have been Remington core loc's in 120 and 140 gr., Hornady Whitetail 140gr. But I am going to hunt with the Federal Nosler BT in 140 gr. This round groups at 1 to 1.5 inches at 150 yards. I am hoping that if I do my part, this round will give me dead right there performance on deer. We will see! On my old Ithaca Deerslayer 2, the best slug for that gun is the Remington copper sabots, 12g. two and three quarter inch. Nothing I ever tried in that gun came close to them, in accuracy or performance.

I used the slick tricks with my crossbow last year and will again this year. They fly true for me. But look for yourself and find what's best for you and your set up.

Really surprised it hasn't been found yet in the Pine Bush. I know for a fact that a few law enforcement guy's hunt there.

It is illegal at all times in NY! C'mon man!

They probably won't come out in the open during daylight hours with all that commotion going on. But I don't think that they will all just up and leave the woodlot if they are not bothered in there and still feel secure. Keep your cams going and that will give you a good idea of what's going on. Good luck!

He is very unique. I have never killed one quite like him. I would be proud to put my tag on him!
