    Ewe guy's are so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!
  2. Opening day deer, 1973, shot with an Ithica Model 37 16 ga. shooting Remington Sluggers. He was a small spike, following a group of doe's while I sat shaking in my boots on a stone wall along a field edge. I still hunt that property. And can still vividly recall every detail of that hunt.
  3. Awesome!!! Congrats!! Just goes to show, when we work together we make things happen!
  4. I feel it's all about the parents or mentors in just about anything. Take driving a car for instance. What is a young person going to learn from a poor or reckless driver? So many things, good and bad, are learned from what a young person observes. We can't lump all the responsible parents and mentors, with the few wingnuts out there who know little more than the one's they are mentoring.

    2015 RUT

Deer activity will pick up the last week in October and run through the month of November. Peak activity will be a few days before and after Veterans Day. Same as every year in this area.

    Ground Blinds

Natural ground blinds are my #1 way to hunt! In my opinion, nothing beats being on the same level as the deer you hunt! And to have a young hunter help build it and share it with you during the season, makes it all the better. Best of luck to you and your son this season!
  7. Not for me. That is the complete opposite of how I like to hunt. Though it is legal and many deer are killed this way each year. And some hunters are very good at successfully organizing large drives. If we do drive deer, it's only a two man drive. With one sitting down wind and the other walking SLOWLY with the wind at his back. Usually about 50/50 on who gets the shot. I just don't like to hunt with a bunch of hunters. But that's just me!
  8. I don't need to spend money to enjoy watching football, or any sport. Though I did win $100 in the office Superbowl pool a couple years ago. Didn't even know I won until I came to work on Mon. Never been much of a gambling type. Always had to work too hard for my money to toss it out. Everything costs money these days. But rooting for my favorite teams is still free! Unless you go to a game of course.
  9. Really nice pic's! Thanks for sharing!
  10. Awesome set of pic's! If that doesn't get the blood pumping to start the season, not much will!
  11. Shooting off the bench with the lead sled is one thing for me. I can get 1 inch groups from my cheap savage too. But like you, shooting freehand is another whole ballgame, and a six inch group is pretty darned good! I have never been what I consider a great shot. Lots of guy's can and do outshoot me at the range. But I very rarely miss a deer.
  12. Welcome Zach! So glad you decided to join us. ( I didn't know he did, until after he signed himself up.) There are some really great people and hunters here. They are always willing to help with any hunting and outdoors questions. I have learned a lot from them myself! Just pull up a seat and join in anytime! You are the best hunting buddy a grampy could ever ask for. I too, Iook forward to this hunting season with you and all the hunting seasons we will have together. I love the time we spend together. Your enthusiasm and always being there, keeps me young. I'm so proud of you and love you very much. Thanks for the nice comments. You guy's are awesome!
  13. Go Panthers! All our teams are undefeated right now except the Steelers. So expectation is high. Good luck to everyone's team today! Let's get ready for some football!

Honestly, ewe are the only one!
  15. This is the second weekend at the new house. Settling in nicely. But still have a bunch of pictures and stuff to hang . Then I need to get down stairs to set up my music studio and after that my hunting gear needs to be organized. Started yard work early this morning and finised at about 4pm. Hoping to get up the property behind the other house tomorrow, to brush in a couple ground blinds. Then head over to the farm I hunt to do the same there and maybe hang a cam with my grandson. Also hoping to fling a few arrows sometime tomorrow. Need to figure a way to make the weekend as long as Mon. and Tue.!
  16. Sure is a good looking young buck in the last pic! Plots look amazing! Nice work!
  17. Happy to hear it's all working out for you. Good luck with the new set up.
  18. I feel the youth season would still be a great opportunity for these young hunters to gain valuable experience. With the needed supervision.
  19. My 11 year old grandson has been going out with me since he was 6. He learns quickly and has a passion for hunting and the outdoors. His skills, although he still has much to learn, are very advanced for his age. He is now a better woodsman at 11 than some adults I've seen stumbling and bumbling in the woods. He knows how to safely handle a firearm and is a good shot with bow as well. Perhaps some kids his age are not ready to hunt. But he could have started last year if legal. And I know some others his age that are ready to hunt, and chomping at the bit to do so as well. It's all about good supervision and and letting them learn as much as they want, at an early age. Why hold them back?
  20. May God bless all the Hero's and Patriots of that fateful day. May we never forget.
  21. I'm all for it. Teach them young and let them carry the torch for the future.
  22. Nice pic's of a variety critters!
