  1. Those units included are mostly all about access. Bowhunters with access seem to take does pretty heavily in those units. But it's one spot in one place. I honestly can't think of a bowhunter I am close with that doesn't take at least one doe (or tries without success) in bow. I'd go so far as to say that most take multiple does in bow. Maybe the larger stats lay a different truth, but blaming it on bowhunters seems misplaced IMO. It's an access issue. The cost of access in units that are 95+% private ground is becoming higher and higher as time goes on. I hate to say it but I'd rather have a full-fledged muzzleloader season similar to Kansas than this half-assed, half-baked idea. They should have long ago set their sites on opening private lands with incentives. Look at walk-in programs, tax breaks, the list goes on. It annoys me that people can reduce tax burdens and even get paid for certain shelter/programs yet be allowed to shut the door on offsetting opportunities. Reduce taxes or get paid to improve nature - encouraging deer population increases to some degree, yet box ourselves in with no access to take care of said population challenges. While we are at it, I wish the orange rule would stay out, but that is likely coming too. Hunting suburban fringes is only going to cause more issues for us. Disruptions - heck my hunting partner had an air horn blasted at him for minutes on opening day a few years back while wearing orange. Yeah...how enjoyable.
  2. You can ship it. most vendors just don't want the risk....
  3. Back to the topic, I don't have one yet. Is it pretty much only logical for sporting events now? I've flown 2x since April and have never needed to show proof, etc.
  4. Old ladies are usually good judges of character, no? She's old. Maybe she at her age/wisdom didn't want to take the risk because life is finite and she's closer to the end than the beginning. So be it. She got you so wound up you're posting about a little old lady on a hunting forum.
  5. That is clean. We've always been a Regal or Stingray family growing up. I just don't get enough free time on the water to justify the spend. Down south you have such a longer season. But hey, if you enjoy it enough, then it's worth it!!!! But that puppy is clean and that motor is proven over the years.
  6. Some weekend coming up We will head down to do some clearing. Might let it ride in June and target early July as clearing once might be feasible.
  7. You know the funny part is, that stuff is highly likely made here in wNY....
  8. I use the CVA foaming cleaner. Seems to do OK.
  9. I am no biologist, but I suppose it creates alot of what ifs to consider. To me, it's not much different than that mountain lion that ran halfway across the country. It happens, but to such a low degree that is an anomaly. I don't think you manage to the anomaly, but maybe I'm wrong. While curious and a Ripley's Believe it or Not factoid, I don't think we should look at that as any factor on our experiences - short of the perfect storm (such as a disease carrying deer spreading it for hundreds of miles. If that were really a risk, it'd have been truly realized by now (I'm sure this isn't the first deer that went that far). Majority of studies from I have seen show small home range changes in some deer, little-to-none in some deer, and a few go a little further, but they're much the minority. I have one mature buck photo - at least 5.5 or older, and that buck was killed the next day (within 24 hours) 5.5 miles as the crow flies in the third week of October. He crossed 390, too. In the same 24 hour period, he broke off 4 tines. Reminds me of that gang movie where they have to fight there way through the city.
  10. I spent a few minutes reading the Novavax methodology/technology and my head is spinning. I can handle the mRNA from Moderna and Phizer...but this recombinant nanoparticle and adjuvant stuff is bonkers. The adjuvant is like an analogy of crop oil for herbicides, so I get that, but the nanoparticle process confuses me. Crazy tech.
  11. I liken myself to the pretty one around here....LOL
  12. Figured it might give us clues as to who is next, lol.
  13. Is the forum member pretty or the mount?
  14. I have 12 boxes now and my hunting partner has at least another 10 boxes so we're covered for a few years. Last year I spent two rounds - one on the range and one on a buck; thankfully no adjustments needed. I've come across alot of SSTs, actually landed two cases of the 20g 2.75 and down to last 15 boxes to move and they'll go fast when I post them available later this week. Thankfully my Ohio trip allowed me to find some decent 243 and picked up 10 boxes. That made me feel good as that was hard to find for several months in any quantity in the same brand/bullet construction.
  15. I loaded up enough to get me through the next two-three years from a hunting perspective short of .410 field loads for squirrels and what not. I went through a heck of a time getting Accutips at the end of last summer and so I made a decision to just get what I need for a few years. Target shooting isn't something I've done in a long time - my time at the range is more geared toward sighting in and being capable when the time arises. I get that target shooting can make one better, but at a certain point it becomes shooting for fun and hitting paper. I take that target money and put it elsewhere in my hunting budget, so to speak. I am the same way with bows nowadays. Three bows total since 2009, with the third being just this past season for more of a purpose hunt (lightweight and short ATA for midwest hills).
  16. I dunno. Eataly seemed packed and serving up great food while I was there in April. Still amazed at how good the food was there.
  17. My second lest favorite time of year to run cams. Vegetation ends up being a common problem lol. I'll be cleaning up a few spots this weekend.
  18. Rhino 180 Blind - great visibility.
  19. Hard to believe 8H wasn't included in the special season... Also hard to believe that the push for orange mandate is worth spending time on - I know there is passion around both sides but safety wise it doesn't seem to be a difference maker? I guess I just feel like there were/are bigger fish to fry.
  20. Slow and steady wins the race. Panels have been etched nicely. First ones going up.
  21. We are locked in for NY/OH/MO. Going to be challenging year as work initiatives are likely going to be a factor for me for time off for the first time in 2-3 years. We will find a way to make it work. I’m just glad I didn’t splash in on Iowa since we have four points each. Ohio buck here. Cams been slow due to the vegetation getting out of hand. Will make a trip there to do some trimming in the next week or two.
  22. Nothing is cheap any longer. Plus they're not really businessmen, cost be what it is. That said, people shell out alot more $ to get a fraction of an inch better MOA grouping, or buy the latest bow that will be obsoleted in 6 mos. Buying a super mobile stand that likely provides 10-20 years of service doesn't seem so offputting. It's certainly not a stand for the masses, but the masses also wouldn't use that stand the way it was built to be used. They're better off with the lower tier stuff. That is the fun part of hunting - you can be as recreational or as serious about it as you want.
  23. Stands that are super comfy are not usually super mobile/usable. Even Alphas can be uncomfortable. Look at Dan Infalt's stand...it is $$$. I'd say LW Alpha and the Infalt stand.
  24. Again, it depends on the zone/WMU/and programs. 8C for example has a program.... https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/10001.html Rinse and repeat on Bonus DMPs. 5-10ish years ago, you used to be eligible to take a third buck (beyond the two "normal" ones) in that program, but they since pulled back on it.
