What to do with 3 acre field with house in middle?
chas0218 replied to Core's topic in General Chit Chat
See go for the Timothy grass. You could even have the local farmer hay it if you wanted. Have him leave a few round bales to shoot at or use as a back drop. Either way much cheaper. When the Timothy gets tall like you see above it will seed out and keep re-seeding itself. I forgot to add it will generally keep down the crap golden rod and the deer like Timothy in the spring when it is young. -

If you plant to grass seed and every year go over with more seed you will have a nice lush yard but it might take a few years. I think if it were me I would plant it to timothy grass or pasture mix. You're looking at about 1000lbs. of grass seed for fescue, Kentucky bluegrass mix for that 3 acres as new yard. -
There are reputable shops all over that will rebuild the transmission. I wouldn't take it to a regular mechanic or a dealership a shop that specializes in transmissions is ideal and usually cheaper than a new bought one. I would opt for a rebuilt transmission with a few upgrades. This is where I have ordered the majority of parts for my built 700r4 in my camaro(same as the 4l60e just no electronics). https://www.700r4l60e.com/ If the tranny ever goes in the truck I will be getting my parts/fixing it from the above mentioned site and using a lot of the heavy parts. My truck is my hauling and towing vehicle usually not the nicest to the old girl.

Is this 3 acres a part of a larger chunk you're buying? My grandparents have a 5 acre front yard and mow close to 9 total. If you want all grass see what it would cost to hydro seed probably a lot cheaper than buying bags and you spreading it. Usually you can buy bulk seed but it usually has a lot of weed seeds. Pennington usually is the best seed to use but pricey. -
New motor or used motor guessing new/rebuilt for that warranty? I know when I replaced my motor I paid $500 from intake to pan the motor had 112k. Transmissions were $400 used I'm pretty sure and they ranged in mileage. I opted for the used motor because I don't drive the truck much and would sell it before I got my money out of a rebuilt/new motor. 3 years later and 10k miles I still have it, go figure.

Did mine with 4wd engaged. You need to bleed/actuate the front too.

RR beans are really nice but pricey, I was going to do RR corn but holy $$$$ I think it was close to $1.75/lb. and that was cheap locally. -
I have always wanted to shoot one and had my chance twice but whiffed it both times. First time I hit him good but only got 1 lung and he lived all night and ran off with no blood. The other I hit the limb of my bow on my leg sitting down trying to shoot him. Both bears were in the 500lbs.+ range.

F Him I can't stand chuck schumer the POS. He is one that needs a swift kick in the butt out of DC. -
Would having one of these in your quiver during bow season be illegal if you wanted to whack some squirrels while hunting? According to the regs these would be considered barbed. I carry an arrow with one of those carbon express judo tips that I use on squirrel but these are a lot cheaper. Not sure if this would be like carrying my .22lr and my .270 out into the woods while gun hunting to shoot squirrels or small game while on stand.

Those little sheet metal screws with some gorilla glue on the threads. Won't change the way you walk and add grip like you wouldn't believe. I would just caution walking into your house on any surface that isn't concrete. I have used these in my boots for years and the boots go bad before the screws need to be replaced.

Just curious why were you afraid to run the fat through the grinder? When I have added fat and smoked it the larger fat chunks don't really give you that yum kind of feeling when nawing on a piece. Maybe just a texture thing for me but I don't like my ground meats with big chewy chunks. -
It's only poly so I would imagine it wouldn't take much.

Clip draw. Anyone have one of these on a handgun ?

I prefer my IWS leather this reminds me of the holster that had a post that went up inside the barrel of the gun great concept but not very practical for everyday all day carry. The leather is nice because inside the waist band it has a little give and the parts of the gun don't rub on my back or my pelvic area depending on where I'm carrying it. Summer time carry is usually in the front and winter on my back easier to conceal with longer and heavier clothing and I'm not flashing everyone my bangstick. -
There are weights under that cap on the side of the bait caster. Adjustment all to the outward position. That helps slow the spool down until you get used to throwing the baits. Start with a little heavier jigs or baits and keep that thumb ready on the spool the second that bait hits the water push that thumb onto that spool as fast as possible. Below is a picture of the door (1st picture) on the side and the little weights I'm talking about (2nd picture). You can click them in any position but with all of them out it will slow the spool a lot faster making the casts shorter but less likely of backlash.

Interesting, I think I would rather just stand a few feet from my target in the garage and shoot a few arrows and work on form. If I were a target shooter and wanted to practice during my lunch at work or something that would be a nice aid.

It's hard to beat a Shimano Sahara front drag I have fished a lot with other brands and the only ones that compare are Okumas and Penn. The lower end Penns can be finicky but great customer service. Out of my 16 trolling reels 2 are Penns the rest Okuma. Out of the 8 spinning reels 3 are okuma and the rest shimano (mix of Sahara and Spirex). I have only used a few Pflueger a couple lews and I have always went back to the Shimano or Okuma. I used the customer service through Okuma once when I bought a broken reel and wanted parts to fix it. They sent me all the parts free I just had to cover shipping, they are a great company and take care of their customers.

I would make up 2 different combos because those 2 species are on different ends of the spectrum when it comes to fishing for them. Most bass pike and musky are heavier setups where in the river you want long noodle rods. I would look into any of the better shimano spinngin reels ($70+) and invest into 2 rods. Normally when you buy the more expensive reels you will get 2 spools allowing you to just change spools to allow multi-species use. Rods aren't as big a deal get a couple gander mountian rods (lifetime warranty) one long 10' medium/medium light for the river fish and another 6' or 6'6" in medium heavy. The rods should run around $30-$40 each. You will spend a little more than your original budget but it were me I would setup for whatever you are going to target most often then get the other pole later.

The thing looks huge. I shoot a 75 gr. BH and if someone came out with a decent 75gr. small game head that would be great. I know there isn't much of a market for those lighter heads but my bow shoots them great and haven't ever had an issue with energy. I have thought about just making my own head with a triangle shaped piece of stainless attached to a stainless shaft but don't really use my bow to hunt small game it's usually my .22LR.

Yeah sorry it wouldn't show up. No biggy I knew what you meant. Yeah I can't complain we have sown wheat into Timothy before and it seeded fine not that it was a huge crop but did a lot better than we figured.

I don't think this will apply to Forage Oates. I think it can be grown well in the spring if I'm not mistaken I haven't done any research on oates.

The only show I really follow is Salmon Showdown. The hunting shows don't do it for me my father in law takes what they say to heart about products and stuff. He has bought more stuff sponsored by different guys because it is the new and improved yada yada. I do just fine with my real antlers and $10 true talker grunt call.
