Good PSA post! And despite my feelings for Dick's and F&S, I'm glad to hear that they're standing behind their product. I tend to shy away from those fabric seats in favor of a metal seat. But the issue I've seen isn't necessarily from workmanship, it's the damn critters that chew them up. But I leave mine out constantly, so I guess I'm giving them a long chewing season.

My wife and I spent a few days exploring around southwest Virginia last week/weekend. Weather and season wise, they're about 3-4 weeks ahead of us. I took a strong liking to the general Roanoke area. Took a couple of drive-bys of houses that were listed for sale, and walked some of the property of the ones that were vacant. Nice area, friendly people, Blue Ridge Mountains in the western views, and Smith Mountain Lake 30 mins away for water fun. Best of all, reasonable housing prices and dirt-cheap property taxes. For example, we drove by one place for sale - 62 acres, 2200 sq. ft. house in relatively good condition, and a 60 x 40 ft pole barn along with a two car garage. Annual taxes were $1240. That's probably an annual $12k+ in NYS. And just for Andy - 80 degrees and sunny there today.

I doubt that guy was ignorant, my guess is that he did it on purpose. And thought he was justified because he was going 5 mph over. The lanes are not called slow lane and fast lane, they're called driving lane and passing lane. You're supposed to complete your pass and move back over if being overtaken by following traffic. So pretty much if they are in the passing lane and not passing, they're doing it wrong.

We're going to check out the Clarksville, VA area. Either side of the border of NC. Not looking to live on the water, but within 20-30 minutes of it. Ideally with about 20-30 acres that a soon to be old dude can hunt on. Who am I kidding, I'm already an old dude! Real estate taxes are 1/12th of what they are here in New Yorkistan.
