    I shot my PB buck this season about 20 mins after sunset. In years past, I would have been walking out by that time. I would have spooked him off and most likely never would have even known. So I’m pretty thankful for the extra shooting time if conditions allow.

    Fourth sit of the bonus week but first sit where I’ve had any cell signal. Figured I may as well be cozy in the box. I’ve had deer within 150 yds every outing but just small bucks and last-light doe groups.

    So Wolc shoots a legal deer with a legal implement, in a legal season as set forth by the DEC, and because it’s just not something you do, you denigrate him by implying he’s just a “so called hunter”? with questionable “skills”? You bring a lot to the site, but certainly not humility, tolerance, or camaraderie.

    Part of making that choice was saving a tag for the holiday hunt, not the other way around. You can see that, right? I still don’t see where sneaking into my woods next week puts any more pressure on deer than it does this week. It’s just me on a couple of hundred acres.

    Nobody hunted here from Thanksgiving til last Tuesday. I only hunted 5 times since last Tuesday. Please tell me exactly how I’ve been harassing them. I have a valid either sex tag and my wife consigned me her doe tag. Why do you care when I fill my tag?

    I can respect your opinion but I may have done poorly making my point. I wasn’t commenting on being unsuccessful vs successful. I was pointing out that it’s nice to have more opportunities to go be successful or not. For the whole regular season, I didn’t hunt after opening day as I shot a buck on that Saturday. I’m happy to go spend another week in the woods. The more, the better. I still have the same amount of tags to fill whether I filled them 10 weeks ago or on January 1st, 2022.

    I didn't think it was a race. I like being out. It's another week of doing so. I never knew this would make me a bad hunter.

    I could have taken a doe several times yesterday afternoon. And had multiple chances over the last few days. Was holding out for a buck, but thought I’d save the doe tag for the holiday hunt.

    Out for what would have been the last hurrah last year. I’m pussyfooting around the perimeter and saving the interior for the holiday hunt. Pretty cool knowing we can get out again on Sunday!

    Haha, no argument from me! I’m uneasy with heights too. Just using what I do gives me a sense of comfort, I imagine a good one would be even better.

    I know, I hear you. I do have one I bought which is a cluster f of straps that tangle, don’t hold adjustment, etc. so I don’t use it. Got at least a half dozen of the ones that come with tree stands too. I hunt 50% from a tower box blind or built in box, 25% in a ladder stand, and the rest either still hunting or in ground pop ups. I need to find a good vest-type one for the ladder stand sits.
