  2. Not that I will ever need it but for those that would like some options for processing I came across this list compiled by the DEC. Not sure how accurate it is but it's dated November 2019 and may give someone a place to start. It is a complete list by region in a PDF format. Hope it helps someone. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjat6bGw-TsAhVRmeAKHX2bDfsQFjAAegQIAxAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dec.ny.gov%2Fdocs%2Fwildlife_pdf%2Fdeerprocessors.pdf&usg=AOvVaw2Vpz68T1xxKqVyd-D13oeQ
  3. No reason to keep this on the forum. I will send you a pm with some information later on today so you can make a decision if it is something you want. Sorry to hear of yours getting stolen.
  4. Give or take you are 5hrs. away but if you want to make the trip you are welcome to it.
  5. Not sure where you are located but I have a old style Loggy Bayou climber you could buy cheap or use for the season. It is in great shape, comfortable, very sturdy, light, and the weight capacity is 250 lbs. I would only make it available if you have some experience using a climber but you are welcome to it if you are anywhere near 8H.
  6. Don't know about the deer but I think they will move when the urge is there regardless of the weather. I do know I won't be sitting in a tree if the wind is much above 10-15 mph. It is not fun sitting in a tree with the wind plus the wind make it feel a lot colder.
  7. Probably not....the easiest way to identify a active scrape is a overhanging branch usually 4-5 ft. above the fresh dig and some times there will be a broken branch on said branch. Turkeys and others will make areas that may appear like scrapes but the overhanging branch is the telltale sign. If it is really active there will be tracks, sometimes droppings, and occasionally will see tine marks in the dirt.

  9. Boy I hope you and them are right. I am getting pretty tired of hunting in lousy weather.
  10. Just bought a new dozen this year and have about 18 or so just for practice.
  11. One would hope so but I have picked them up in December in 20° weather with snow on the ground.
  12. Got out this morning hoping to beat the rain that was forecasted to start after noon. It started @ 8:30 and didn't quit. Had a small spike come in close and spooked when I tried to get a picture of him. Got home and it hadn't rained a drop here Climber and clothes are in the basement drying out for the fourth time of getting soaked based on weather forecasts. Probably going to need another dose of permethrin even though I haven't seen a tick yet.
  13. How about a 2020 DEER report. I have been hunting my tail off and not seeing any deer or deer sign period. Checked two cornfield edges the past couple of days with not a single track to be found. Any pictures on trail cams are at night and far & few between. Hardly any rubs, only a few scattered scrapes that are not getting freshened, and hardly any droppings. Most "historical" trails are covered in leaves and do not seem to be getting used.
  14. They ARE walking on a designated hiking trail. It is an easy 8' wide trail. They are using the leaf blower to clear the leaves off a hump so they can get their mountain bikes over it so their tires don't slip on the leaves. They are also trimming trees making their own trail off the designated trail which is illegal unless they are state employees.
  15. I put two cams on some out of the way state land a couple of weeks ago and fully expected to have at least one or both stolen. Due to weather etc., I wasn't able to get back until this morning. I decided not to hunt because of the rain but knew I had to get those cams removed and could do a little scouting while I was there. Sure as dodo one of the cams was stolen. I did find a couple of fresh rubs, 5 new scrapes, and plenty of acorns. The cam that got stolen was deeper in the woods than this one. I figured out of the two the second would survive because of it's location but was proven wrong. Keep in mind that these pictures were taken on a hill that goes almost straight up. The camera was in approx. 1/2 mile and the one that got stolen was farther yet across a ravine and nowhere near a "people" trail. The location was picked because it is an area where bucks have historically rubbed trees and used as a travel route. I did get a few deer pics. but was amazed at what else the camera captured 1/2 mile off the road.
  16. Just goes to show how dumb he really is. There are probably hundreds of thousands if not millions of AR's out there they do not even know about and how could they possibly have a clue on how many or what kind of magazines a person owns. Maybe he will concentrate his efforts on the AR-14 he spoke about and all of us will be safe from his tax plan.
  17. I know it is Fox News but well worth the watch. https://video.foxnews.com/v/6202464668001#sp=show-clips
  18. Hope deer search is able to help. If not maybe the third time will be the charm. Good Luck
  19. Known as a cubby where a body-gripping trap will be set once the season opens. Sometimes they get pre-baited to get the animal coming to the trap on a regular basis. Not knowing your location makes it difficult to determine the targeted species but judging from the size in the picture it could be coon but if it is near water more than likely for mink or weasel. Normally it wouldn't be used for coon since most are using DP's (dog proof) or leg hold traps for coon. Kind of early to have them out but maybe it is a location the individual uses every year and was just left there from last season to be used this season or they just forgot it was there.
