  1. Another thing I would recommend is to make sure the ol ticker is working good. When that first one walks by and you are ready to commit it will be pounding like never before.
  2. If you are a registered Democrat you can keep Cuomo off the ticket in November by voting in the Primaries tomorrow 9/13. If he looses the primary he will not be eligible to run, and his dream of sticking it to us some more for two more years before making his run at the presidency will be nipped in the bud. Not to say that he still won't make a bid but if he can't get elected for governor it might curtail his enthusiasm. Do the right thing and help fellow New Yorkers get rid of the guy who is more interested in helping Puerto Rico, bashing Trump at every opportunity, putting more gun restrictions in place, and finding ways to squeeze more tax dollars out of each and everyone of us. Another bonus is you won't have to watch his re-election ads for the next two months. STEP UP YOUR FELLOW NEW YORKER NEED YOU. Most primary polling places are open from 12:00 noon to 9:00 pm so there is plenty of time. Get er done
  3. My list never ends. I do what I can but when the time comes I put out the "gone hunting" sign and the rest can wait til later or I get around to it
  4. Sounds like you may have a peep problem. Maybe it is twisting on you when you draw. I personally never use one because I have found them to be unreliable but I know a lot of guys like and use them.
  5. Just imagine what wooly could do with those
  6. Congratulations on taking the plunge. I bet you won't regret a minute of it. It is without doubt one of the prettiest times of the year to be in the woods and if it isn't hot also one of the nicest times. It is the time of year I don't care if I am successful or not. Just all you see makes it all worth it to me. Don't be in to big of a rush to up the poundage. Some of them very chilly mornings after sitting for a couple of hours it may become difficult to draw that extra poundage. Make sure you are comfortable with it or you may regret it later. Enjoy yourself and I look forward to hearing of your journey through the best time of the year there is to hunt deer.
  7. Hence the "Me Too Movement" 10-20 years after the fact.
  8. Sacrificing everything SHOULD NOT include disrespecting your country and everything it stands for even though it is your right to do so.
  9. Page 17: https://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/wildlife_pdf/15huntguide.pdf Remember, it is unlawful to: • Cut or injure trees (including construction of permanent tree stands, construction of natural blinds, clearing of shooting lanes around portable stands, placement of nails or other hardware into trees, or use of live trees as targets while sighting-in firearms). • Store personal property. Tree stands or hunting blinds that do not injure a tree, and are properly marked or tagged with the owner's name and address or valid hunting license number, may be placed during the appropriate hunting season, but must be removed within 30 days of the end of the season
  10. Kapernick is a P.O.S. period. He sucked as a quarterback, sucks as a person and doesn't have the intelligence to figure out whatever your beliefs are they should not be aired at the expense of the national anthem If he was so smart he would know there are ways to express your self and stand up for what you believe in without disrespecting the national anthem or the American flag.. As far as Nike I do not or will not own anything with their brand name. but just in case; I will ad them to the list with Dick's and Field & Stream. Business practices and personal beliefs are one thing but restricting rights to buy guns and kneeling during the national anthem, or disrespecting the American flag are going to far. Some things should be sacred but to him, Nike, Dicks/Field & Stream and a few other brainless others nothing is sacred or cannot be disrespected. I would like to see him kneeling in front of a firing squad with his Nike sneakers, T-shirt, and hat in place while I sing God Bless America End Of Vent.
  11. The first time I have to pull the cord on the Ariens I will be thinking of yesterday and will not regret one minute of being out in the "bone-chilling cold" I can always dress to get or stay warm but hot there is not a cure for.
  12. Hope you had a great day and to bad it was sow freakin hot. Sure hope you had some AC
  13. Town of New Hudson Allegheny County Unattended State Land Death: On August 25, DEC Forest Rangers were notified of a lost hunter in the Hanging Bog Wildlife Management Area. State Police and Rangers were directed to the body of the missing 56-year-old Portageville man by his companion. His body was found within a marijuana plot. The County Coroner determined a natural cause of death and the plantation was removed by Rangers and State Police. No further investigation is anticipated
  14. DEC Announces Oak Wilt Detected in South Bristol 08/29/2018 DEC Announces Oak Wilt Detected in South Bristol The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced today that oak wilt, a disease that affects oak trees, has been detected in South Bristol, Ontario County. This is the second location in Ontario County where oak wilt has been confirmed. The disease was confirmed in the town of Canandaigua in 2016. Ontario County is one of four counties in the state that have confirmed oak wilt infections. Other counties with confirmed cases of oak wilt are Kings, Suffolk, and Schenectady counties. A concerned landowner contacted DEC after several oak trees on their property in South Bristol began showing signs of oak wilt, including dropping discolored leaves in July and then dying rapidly. Samples from one of the trees were sent to the Cornell Plant Disease Diagnostic Clinic where they tested positive for the fungus that causes the disease. The current treatment method to contain and kill the oak wilt fungus is to remove the infected trees, as well as any nearby oaks that could become infected. DEC will issue an order establishing a quarantine district prohibiting the movement of oak material out of the immediate area to prevent the fungus from spreading. In addition, DEC will conduct aerial and ground surveys over the next few weeks to identify additional trees that may be infected. Impacted property owners will be contacted with information about oak wilt and to provide them with information about how to help protect remaining oak trees. During the winter months, DEC will remove infected trees. Surveys will resume in the spring, when dead trees and signs of the fungus may be more apparent. Oak wilt, caused by the fungus Bretziella fagacearum, is a serious tree disease in the eastern United States, killing thousands of oaks each year in forests, woodlots and home landscapes. As the tree attempts to defend itself, it produces gummy plugs to restrict the movement of the fungus. These plugs, together with the growing fungus, prevent the water transport in the tree. As water movement within the tree is slowed, the leaves wilt and drop off, and eventually the tree dies. DEC asks the public to report any occurrences where an oak tree died over a short period of time, especially if it occurred between July and August, to the Forest Health Information Line toll-free at 1-866-640-0652. For more information about oak wilt, please visit DEC's website.
  15. Treatment for Heat Exhaustion If you, or anyone else, has symptoms of heat exhaustion, it's essential to immediately get out of the heat and rest, preferably in an air-conditioned room. If you can't get inside, try to find the nearest cool and shady place. Other recommended strategies include: Drink plenty of fluid (avoid caffeine and alcohol). Remove any tight or unnecessary clothing. Take a cool shower, bath, or sponge bath. Apply other cooling measures such as fans or ice towels. If such measures fail to provide relief within 15 minutes, seek emergency medical help, because untreated heat exhaustion can progress to heat stroke. After you've recovered from heat exhaustion, you'll probably be more sensitive to high temperatures during the following week. So it's best to avoid hot weather and heavy exercise until your doctor tells you that it's safe to resume your normal activities.
  16. During his speech, Cuomo accused Trump of violating the Constitution by giving Puerto Rico “a different level of care than Texas and Florida and other states” following Hurricane Maria last year. “We’re going to hold ‘King’ Trump to the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution said equal protection under the law. Puerto Rico did not receive equal protection under the law,” Cuomo said. 17. Absolutely...movement will alert and or spook them whether you are 10 ft., 30 ft., or sitting on the ground.
  18. Regardless of what they say it wouldn't happen and they would have something to hold over your head for the rest of your life. This would be my choice

  20. Yeah but that was when deer would seldom look up. They have since been educated, learned about tree stands, and look up often. I still don't hunt much over 10-12 feet and don't see the need to. Last year I saw a 25' ladder stand set up at Cabela's and I can tell you that thing looked like it would be a royal pain to put up.
  21. Camo, Four wheel drive and a winch. You can ad other bells & whistles later as you see the need (or have the desire)
