It doesn't matter what we think. You were there, you took the shot, and it is up to you to follow up and make a decision based on what you find or do not find. Tracking and interpreting sign is part of the hunt. Not sure if this is current but when in doubt call in some help: https://huntingny.com/forums/topic/7058-deer-search-inc/

I sometimes climb with my pack on and the bow hoist is attached to the pack. Then when I am set in the stand I pull it up or I tie a rope or hoist to bow and the stand an once again pull it up when the stand is set. I always have a "extra" cord in my pack as a back-up and would never consider climbing with my bow. One distraction that is not needed during climbing. If for some reason I should not have a means to pull the bow up after getting set I would be heading for home or the hardware store to get one.

Don't let to many pass or you will be going into gun season without one. You need to break your cherry on one, get the first one out of your system and then become more selective. Don't expect your first one to be a whopper although it would indeed be nice. As long as you are enjoying yourself and having fun....that is all that matters.- 10374 replies

When I am hunting I never touch my screen or use my phone. My brother in-law has missed opportunities on two different nice bucks while using his phone and while he kicked himself both times he still plays with it. When I am hunting I hunt and don't want to be distracted by anything but what distractions mother nature provides. It can wait until I get out of the tree and if not...oh well. But to each their own.

Precisely why I haven't been out plus it has rained every day here except one since the season opened. First nice day I have to cut the grass...first cool day I will be in the stand.

Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Workshop a Success The 2018 Becoming an Outdoors-Woman workshop, held September 7-9 in Cortland, NY, was a success! In its 25th year in New York, the BOW workshop brought together 125 women from 34 counties, as well as women from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Florida. Participants were able to choose four classes of the 51 offered, ranging from fishing, paddleboard yoga, hiking, and trailer handling, to rifle shooting and big game hunting. Our workshop fosters a safe environment for learning new outdoor skills, while promoting camaraderie with like-minded women. Some testimonials from this year’s workshop: “I LOVED the program. I LOVED my experience. I LOVED everything about it. I came home feeling inspired, empowered, confident, and of course so much more educated and knowledgeable.” “I know I’ll use the skills I learned here, these are the stepping stones for doing what I’ve always wanted to do, but didn’t have a way to learn or begin.” “This was a fantastic experience! I loved the classes and being in a supportive community of women. I gained quite a bit of confidence with all the hands-on practice and am very grateful that this program exists.”

The famously private first lady has sought to find her footing in the global spotlight while escaping the media glare of the White House. She is currently on a solo four-nation tour of Africa. Why are we paying the first lady's way to Africa when she could be doing some good here. Maybe Trump is trying to get her out of his hair for awhile??? Sorry I know it has nothing to do with hunting. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/melania-trump-speak-abc-news-exclusive-interview-lady/story?id=58284244

I read it as the one blocking the trail was close. Just busting your balls. At least you got to see some.- 10374 replies

He would have to make one descent and one climb not attached. Probably not a good idea. My point was to make some up and put one in each stand.

Shoot him and let us know.

The only danger of moving one is forgetting you did, going back to a tree and not having one. Make up your own they are relatively cheap to make. A good stout rope, a prusik., and a carabiner.

Hotel or Motel might be a good idea. I have been camping/hunting up there and gone to sleep with temps in the 40's and woke up to 4" of snow on the ground.

Truglo is marketing a 2x lens for their sights for around $40-50 depending on where you purchase. Have not tried it so I can't say if it is any good or not. https://www.truglo.com/archery-bow-accessories/archers-choice-range-rover-lens-kit.asp https://www.amazon.com/TRUGLO-Range-Rover-Diopter-Lens/dp/B00BBXHRNI

All I know is when you walk across the yard all you hear is squish, squish, squish.

Make sure you have a compass, map, and if possible a gps. There is limited or no cell service in a lot of areas up there and while it is beautiful country it is not a place to be lost. Numerous people get lost and or injured up there every year. When you are lost up there it just may be for good. BE PREPARED. Just having a compass and map will not get you out so it may help to learn how to use them if you don't already know.

Hope it wasn't rabid.

Hope you have a wonderful day and are able to stay dry
