i found a scrape a few weeks ago and i decided to put some scent in it to see what kind of bucks would show up. I have been freshening it once a week since then and have gotten some good results. This is on Long island and i will be hunting Wed-Mon trying to get one of these bucks down before the end of the season. A lot of nighttime pics but its still good to know they are around the area. I also got these pics during the daytime under my stand but i wasn't in it at the time . you can actually see my stand in this picture in the big pine tree. I guess if i don't get any of these bucks down this week i will have a lot of sheds to look for in a few weeks. Good luck to anybody that is still out hunting the island!! John

I was watching at work and got interpreted by a phone call so i had to turn it off. From what i heard most of it was about getting armed police officers in every school in america. I believe it is a good idea but they will still try to ban assault weapons saying the general public has no need for them besides to carry out crimes. I don't agree with it but i know it will be happening sooner or later all b/c of a piece of scum that decided to shoot up a school. John

I will still only use my bow during archery and not my xbow. I guess i will have a lot of time to practice with it from now until next Jan if it passes. John

Great i just bought one so i could hunt my private land spot on long island in Jan. Looks like i wont be doing that anymore. John

I have seen two shed bucks already on the island this year already both were last week. One was a real big buck and the other looked like a 1 1/2 year old. i would say about 40% of bucks are done shedding antlers by end of January on the island. John

Music (pandora) Hunting (scoutlook) GPS (motionx gps). It will turn your phone into a real gps (awesome for hunting) Also if you turn off wireless and location services when you are not using them and turn down the brightness to half way you will get much better battery life. Also as doewhacker said if you close out of apps when not using them it will help with battery life also. There is also a case you can buy that has a battery in it that will give you a full charge from 0% battery. Its great for hunting and will make sure it lasts the whole day and then some if you are on your phone alot. Hope this helps. John

Same here didnt see one deer today. Not hunting tonight. Ill be back out next weekend an the following week in between christmas and new years. Wind was killer this morning and probably had them all bedded. John

Sorry to hear. Saw a ton of does tonight but no bucks. My brother was 100 yards away and he had a nice 8 come in but got winded and the deer walked off. Hunting alone tomorrow morning hopefully withe the bad weather they will be moving good!! John

Didnt see any deer tonight. No ticks on me all day either. I think there are less and less ticks on the island every year. I was even walking around today in jeans scouting and i didnt have one tick on me. Gonna be back at it in the morning. John

If you aren't supposed to be hunting in there i would stay out. You don't want to take a chance at shooting a deer in there only to get it taken away and get a huge fine for hunting in a restricted area. What county is this in? John

ill be out on long island starting tomorrow. Gonna be hunting with the bow fri-sunday trying to take down the big buck that we got pictures of last week. I asked Santa (Fiance) for a crossbow so i could hunt the January shotgun season on my private land spot on Long Island. She ordered it for me the other night so i should be all set to go by Jan. Got the Excalibur Axiom package. John

You should wait in your stand and next time he gets in and stares at you and fires off some shots you should stare back at him with a smile and do the same thing with one of these looks .
