    snake

Was out in the woods today and came across this snake. Wasn't big but just not sure what kind it is. Anybody know?? John
  5. Happens every year. Its cool and then the season comes and its 80 in Oct. This weather is Bull! Been in the 60s all month just about and now that season is only a couple days away Mother Nature decides lets turn up the thermostat....
  6. Not sure if anybody saw this but its pretty crazy!! http://now.msn.com/golden-eagle-attacks-sika-deer-in-viral-photograph John
  7. First two weeks of Nov. Also taking first Friday off of the season for a 3 day weekend. Then I get two weeks off for Christmas and new years which is still bow season on LI.
  8. i use the muddy sticks and like them a lot. i also found this video on another site which shows you how to make a few more steps on the bottom stick so you can get to just about 20' with 4 steps. i tried it out and will be using this method this year to keep down on weight. i didnt take my stick apart to get the rope attatched i just took the loop at the top of the rope and wrapped it around the stick and through itself it that makes sense lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPU6UtQHNbc John
  9. i saw it on the long island deer hunting facebook page
  10. I saw that today as well. Def looks like long island and from the title by the date and time it leaves me to believe its either east or center moriches. Cant wait for the season to start!!!! Ill be hunting long island first two weeks of NOV.
  11. Anything but wildgame cams for me. I despise that company. They make the worst products on the market its all junk. John
  12. I really don't like the under Armour tops (find them itchy and uncomfortable) but i have a pair of heavy base layer bottoms that work really well. They are not itchy at all and keep me warm without making me sweat. john
  13. Asat.. They will see right through you!!!
  14. I had two spikes walk 4-5ft next to me while i was still hunting during rifle season. I could have honestly smacked both of them with my gun if i wanted to. I was wearing orange so also and they never saw me. I also had a doe and fawn walk up to me and eat a few yards from my feet while i was sitting up against a tree another year. I don't like being too close to wild animals like that b/c you never know if they are going to spook and run right into you. Even though the bucks were small i still wouldn't want to get hit with a 5" spike. John
  15. Look at first lite base layers expensive but they are great. 100% merino wool. You can sweat in it for days before it starts to smell and they will keep you just as warm but will breathe 100% better than under armour or cabelas ones. There is another company that makes them called minus 33. Its the same stuff but cheaper. John
  16. Great news!!!! I hope you have a great season.
  17. Looks at least 4.5 to me maybe older. John
  18. I would call them and tell them you are not happy. I have sent back every wildgame cam I have ever had because they all broke. They sent me a new one every time. Its to the point now that I will never buy another one of their cams again or any of their other products. I can't even watch their show on TV because I hate the company so much. Been using covert Bushnell and Moultrie for the last few years and have been happy with them. John
  19. Thanks guys! I'm going to scout it in Late Oct since bowhunting doesn't start out there until Nov 1st and see what i find. Hopefully it will be a good season this year. John

    Hither Hills

Has Anybody bowhunted Hither Hills or Napeague State park in November? I'm thinking about trying it out this year but im not sure about pressure from other hunters. Also Looking at Napeague on the aerials it doesn't look like there are many trees to climb. Looks like all small pines to me. I really want to get out there and scout but i'm not going to do so until Oct after all the chiggers are done for the year. John
  21. Heading upstate tonight with my fiance. Cut some grass BBQ do some fishing and swimming and check cams.
  22. Congrats geno. I'll keep the deer in check for you down here don't worry Lol. Moving upstate is something I have been talking about with my fiance also and might not be too far off in my future. I wish you the best of luck up there!! John
  23. Geno they are still giving out unlimited doe tags and i think people will still shoot does and get more tags which will keep the numbers down also. Either way I can't wait to be in my stand come Oct Lol.
