  1. I don't think you can hunt fahnstock for turkey. You might want to confirm that before you head in there.
  2. Here are all of them together for the day including my brothers two and the deadhead that he found
  3. Got back out this weekend and got a few more including my biggest shed to date. Biggest one i have found yet!! Picture does not do this thing justice. John
  4. Man that's a great trip. i have thought about traveling out to Ohio to shed hunt on State land but not sure how the pressure is out there. Good luck next time out here in NY. John
  5. Way to go wooly!!!! That should def make up for the slow season you are having because of snow. I see a lot more in your future since the snow melts. John
  6. This is a good deal for stand and sticks. I have these rails and they work great. Stand looks pretty comfortable also. Where in NY are you located? http://mobile.walmart.com/ip/Bone-Collector-Deluxe-Hang-On-Backpack-Treestand-with-Rrail-Combo-Kit-Value-Bundle/33617614?type=search
  7. Saw one last week with both sides still while out shed hunting.
  8. Have both a summit open shot and a lone wolf hand climber. I really like the lone wolf a lot better. Its lighter and packs down smaller. Much quieter to climb with and once you get to your desired height and pull the cinch straps tight the stand is rock solid. I also just ordered a lone wolf hang on and will he trying that out soon. You really can't go wrong with either stand since they are the two best companies out there. I will say this my summit is def more comfortable but I'm not there to sleep I'm there to hunt!! P.s. trying to sell summit will take 100 for the stand its in good working condition. John
  9. Sorry to hear about your friend. John
  10. Just ordered a lone wolf assault yesterday. 12lbs and one piece platform should he a real good one. Planning on putting it up and taking it down on the day I'm gonna hunt it. John
  11. found a few more since i have posted last. I also found this frozen black racer snake while out looking. Put on a ton of miles so far this year and am probably around 70-80 at this point. I hope to start finding some more now that the snow is almost all melted off. Good luck to everybody still looking!!! John
  12. There was actually 3 deer hung there. He didn't say where it was but said it was within distance of a road where they could have basically drove up to the deer to retrieve them. John
  13. Cool Deadhead!! Good luck next time out.. John
  14. I would rule out the field edges if there are a a lot of people looking for sheds in the area that will be the first place they will look and should be pretty easy to spot. Is there anywhere that you can get up high and scan fields with binos?? Would save a lot of time waking fields and you should be able to spot them if corn is cut down low enough. Also i would concentrate on thickest bedding areas I could find that nobody wants to go into. I have found a good amount in those kind of places. Good luck!! John
  15. I'm hoping to make it out to Iowa next year. I have 2 Points and will have my 3rd this year. Just have to put the money together to get out there. I will be hunting state land during bow season.
  16. you can also watch it here online http://video.pbs.org/video/2365159966/ John
  17. I have been out 5 times since Jan 1st with nothing to show for it. Usually by now i have a few old ones but until yesterday i had nothing and covered a little over 30 miles. Finally found one yesterday and it was an old 4 point side but it was still in pretty good shape. Probably wont get out for a week or so now with the snow but im happy to finally be on the board with something. Good luck to everybody looking! John
  18. I use one and it is so much easier to climb. http://www.lonewolfhuntingproducts.com/shopping/Products/Hand-Climber-Sit-Strap__LWHCS.aspx
  19. Can't find them if they are still on the deers heads!! I'll be out for my 3rd hike this weekend and finally no snow on the ground. Supposed to rain but im going anyway Lol. Good luck next time out!!
  20. There are some big bucks and turkeys in that area. Not a ton of them but they are around. Two years ago I got a ton of good bucks on my cams last near not so many. John
  21. Good luck wooly. Did 4 miles today an no sheds either. Did see my second Buck in the area with both sides still so I just think its too early. I did find a ton of beds and sign where they are tearing up the snow to get to the acorns so I know there will be sheds eventually.
  22. Same here wooly. A lot of snow and bucks still carrying but I did see two shed bucks they other day so some of then have dropped. Heading out tomorrow with hopes to find something. John
  23. Yea he will be a nice buck one day. Maybe I'll get another shot then.
