  1. Merino wool cannot be beat. 100 times better than under armour and will keep you warm and DRY and will not smell even after wearing it for serveral days in the field. You are in luck if you wish to purchase some today b/c there is a great deal on the site below you can get top and bottom shipped for 50 bucks which is an absolute steal. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/terramar-midweight-base-layer-bottoms-merino-wool-for-men~p~7648y/?filterString=s~merino-wool%2F&colorFamily=01 http://www.sierratradingpost.com/terramar-midweight-base-layer-top-merino-wool-zip-neck-long-sleeve-for-men~p~7649a/?colorFamily=01&merch=prod-rec-prod-7649A you can also use the promo code ACJSUNSET4 which will get you another 20% off. I hope this helps. John
  2. This is one area I don't skimp on. I have a few of the Sitka suits and the quality is awesome. Highly Breathable will keep you warm and dry and have a ton of pockets in all my the right places. Also merino wool cannot be beat for under layers even though its a bit pricey. You can wear the same stuff for days and it will not smell. Really lightens my load as opposed to going away for a week and bringing a different set of base layers for each day. John
  3. Got these two little guys sparring the other day over my mock scrape.
  4. That is bull if you ask me. I would contact Dec and tell them about this and see what they say. Sounds to me like this officer is pissed that you had a cam in one of his spots. John
  5. Erik Wagner he is located in mastic beach and does a great job. Also does chop meat and sausage that is awesome. 631-241-9046 John
  6. Let'see some pics of the monster!! John
  7. Ok Cool. Probably wont be back out there until the season opens but i will def let you know when.
  8. Vince as long as you spray your stuff down you should be fine. Right now those baby ticks are the worst. I usually bring a lint roller and when i see a patch of them on me i just roll them off. It works great.. Were you in the spot i showed you this weekend? John
  9. I would look into some of the dep properties in the area. Might have some better luck. John
  10. My guess would be high 130s. Great buck and if he is 5 this year i would def take him if you get a shot. Good luck!!!

  12. there has been a lot of talk about it happening this year but nothing formal yet from DEC. John
  13. Big buck taxidermy. Does excellent work located in Nassau county. http://www.bigbucktaxidermy.com/ John
  14. Yea i can get past 20 with the 4 sticks I have I was saying 17' with only 3 sticks the muddy sticks are the ones I use
  15. Pretty easy once you do it a few times. i wouldn't recommend it for higher sticks but pretty simple to use for first stick. John
  16. I would suggest a lone wolf assault and a set of muddy sticks. Cant beat it for light weight and mobility. can pretty much climb any tree you want and it might take about 5 minutes more to do so than a climber. Also you can do with the bottom stick and get higher with pretty much no added weight and less sticks. I can get to around 17ft with 3 muddy sticks using this method. John

  18. i heard it is being extended also but not sure how they are going to set it up along with the gun season. i also heard they are going to allow you to hunt with the shotgun on the weekends in January. Going to be a nightmare out there come Jan unless you have some private land to hunt. Hopefully i will be tagged out by then lol. John
  19. 1st buck will probably score about 115 and the second about low 90s. Either would get shot if they passed my stand. Job
  20. 1c, 4r, 4s, 4g, 4z, 7p. both state and private lands. John
  21. 3 pins 20,30,40. Would never take a 40 yard shot at a deer in the areas i hunt but i use it for practice. John
  22. You will be able to shoot two bucks on the island. One with your bow tag and one with your rifle tag. All you really need is 1 1C doe tag and you can shoot unlimited does. you just have to take a picture of the tag and send it in to DEC and they will issue you a new one. Or you can bring the head to the check station in Ridge and they will give you a new one there. John
