My parents cooks the whole fish with the roe intact. The fishes own belly serves as a sort of an oven and infuses a little fish flavor into it as well. Awesome. If they don't cook the fish whole, then they take the roe out, dice it up to really fine pieces (almost to the point where it looks like it ran through a blender) and mix it in a bowl with a couple of eggs and cooks it as a soufflé. The chewy part is the membrane that hold the roe together. Sort of like a sausage casing. You can remove it but it's tedious.

I didn't have them like that but I've had them breaded and fried but without the bacon. They're were okay. I think the bacon would definitely make it better. Then again, bacon makes everything better.

I didn't get a chance to do any scouting this year so I'll be heading up there blind.

Working at a top fortune 500 company doesn't really mean anything. Not saying anything about anyone. Just saying you can't really use that as an argument. I've meet some pretty dim people who are in big companies simply because they know a few people and I've meet some really intelligent people working in small boutique firms and startups. Just saying. I've had the privilege of sharing a couple of beers with a fine individual who graduated from one of the top high schools in the country, then graduated from Harvard, went on to serve in the Army in Iraq, then came back to startup his own not-for-profit group. Far from a fortune 500 company but one of the smartest guys you'll meet.

Yeah, 8/31st. I just remember it as this Saturday. I once slept right through New Years Eve. Woke up on Jan 1st thinking it was Dec 31st. That was back when I was working nights and pulling 80+ hours/week shifts.

I'm in a fantasy football league (or what my wife calls, my football fantasy) that's been going on for over a decade. Each year, friends who has since moved away would fly in for the live draft and we all catch up with one another. We get piss drunk to the point where one of us would draft "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey as our kicker in the 12th round. This year, due to scheduling, we decided to do it on Saturday, Sept 1st. Sunday would be recovery day and when my wife will fill me in on what stupid s$%t I did the night before. Monday...I'll probably go shoot some squirrels.

A goose I took last year, I broiled one of the breast and sliced it thin and made fajitas out of it a couple of days after the kill. It was awesome! Everyone who tried it thought it was great. Several months later, I took the other half, mixed it in with some pork chop meat, and ground it up into burger patties and slapped it on a grill. Smell a little funny. Took one bite and had to throw the rest away. Did it spoil in the freezer? I know beef will hold a full year but game bird doesn't? Or mixing it with grocery store bought pork chops ruin it? The rest of the meat in my freezer didn't go bad so it's not like my freezer was broken.

I measured myself and I come out at 28". The pro shop told me I was 27.5" but he really set me up as 27". I would still hit my forearm every once in a while. I had it adjusted down to 26" and I never hit arm again plus my groupings got better. The lesson I got out of all this? Just shoot the damn bow and practice. You'll get the most accurate answer that way. Every one is unique. There will never be a magical formula that applies to each and every one of us every time.

You'll constantly hear people tell you of how deer has been killed with a 22LR and it's certainly possible because as you know, shot placement is everything. I've never tried but if a 22LR can take down a deer, I'm certain a 17HMR can take down a coyote. For small calibers, you have to place the round perfectly. Larger calibers are more forgiving. So how good of a shot are you really. That's what you have to ask yourself. Are you willing to pass up an opportunity if you don't have a perfect shot? At under a 100 yards, no crosswind, open field with no obstructions, I'll take the shot with a 17HMR. At a 100 yards with heavy cross winds and the coyote facing me, bobbing his head up and down as he sniffs the ground, then the air, I would pass on him with my 17HMR. With my 308, I just aim at the chest and let her rip without a second thought. So a 17HMR can certainly kill a coyote with a 17HMR. The real question is can you kill a coyote with a 17HMR. That something only you know the answer to.

Anyone has any experience with this rifle? 410 in a lever action got my attention. Would be something different to try. Everyone keeps saying that it keeps jamming while a few people said it just needs some breaking in. Don't know what to believe.

I liked the 70 steals Ellsbury over the 30-30 Ellsbury anyhow but I never like giving guys who rely on their speed a fat contract that runs past their 35th birthday.

Nearly ten lbs boy? That's a healthy baby. Congrats!

Biz - your beloved Jacoby Ellsbury would look good in a Mets uniform.

Nowadays with advances in medicine, most pitchers come back from TJ surgery pitching just as hard if not faster than when they went down. Only issue is it takes them a little while to regain their feel for their control. Despite the fact that the Mets will have $70 million coming off the books this off season I don't think they were going to contend next year anyway. If you look at the free agency pool, it is one of the worst years of free agencies ever. Wheeler responded well last night after unofficially being thrust into the ace status.

I was at the archery range on Saturday and this guy shows up shoots a round through a whisker biscuit with the cock vane facing straight down. His groups were over 12 inches on a 30 yard target. I ask the guy nicely"isn't you arrow upside down?" and he fires back right away "nah, that's how it's suppose to be". He then shoots another round horrible grouping, sits down and doesn't shoot again. Later on, when his buddy asks him if he's going to shoot again, he told his friend he's good and done for the day. Funny thing is that I wasn't trying to show him up. I wasn't 100% positive myself and was opening up a dialogue. Some people think they know everything and gets defensive when they think there's any form of criticism.

I spent the day building a dresser so I can make room in a closet for diapers. Wifey did treat me to a fancy dinner at night though. Technically I got what I needed for the season last week when I bought my lifetime super sportsman and lifetime bow and they arrived today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

Welcome to the forum. You're wrong about other hunters being "bothered" to show you around. There are some of us that actually enjoy sharing our passions. Too bad you don't live near me but I tell all my friends if they are ever willing to take the class and buy a license, I would take them out a couple of times to get their feet wet.
